Oh yeah, especially the stamina songs.

I will typically use it when I'm hunting something I know I'm not going to have a problem with, or I'm catching up another friend that plays less occasionally than I do. It's just a little tougher because there's some equipment and skills that need swapping around first.

But I just love Great Sword. So satisfying and it's never been more versatile since they added the shoulder tackle.

With Personal 5 Royal on sale almost half off, and no other games on my list for the next three months, I decided to go ahead and grab it. I like how deep the game is, and the fact that after seven hours of gameplay, I seem to basically seem to still be in the intro. Moving the character around actually reminds me a lot of FF7 and FF8 when inside a town. I'm wondering if there's a point where the game opens up and becomes less linear, though.

Got Watch Dogs and Watch Dogs 2 for $15.

I'm about 1/4 through the first one. It's fun but it definitely feels awkward in some respects. Like you can't shoot your pistol while driving, which is a blast when all the enemies in the game can do that to you.

Also the protagonist is like a slice of bread dipped in a bucket of gray paint. Just nothing remarkable whatsoever. Seems like they were trying to go for a Bruce Wayne feel. He's so boring.

Anxious to see the differences from 1 to 2 when I get there.

That matches up with the reviews that I've read. No real interest in the series.

I'm 20 hours into Persona 5, and I've just started the second main mission. The game is a LOT of story, mixed with very JRPG dungeons, mixed with almost Pokemon-like finding and leveling up of spirit/avatars.

I'm actually glad I posted all my crap about my road to the show player, because I jumped back in to finish another season of his career this weekend and was able to review it lol

One thing I like about the mode as a pitcher, even though I individually dominate every year I've only won two World Series in my 11 or 12ish seasons so far. Granted that is good for any player, but it's not like I can single handedly win it all no matter how good I am on the mound.

This season with the Rockies is going well, I've given up a lot of HR but mostly solo shots so my ERA is still really low at 1.5 and closing in on 200 innings and 300k for the year again with about 40 team games left.

I had The Show glitch, and stop taking inputs from my controller when batting or pitching. So I tried to reinstall it, and have had constant errors since then. Guessing I have a problem with the disc, but I can't see any scratches on it. Thankfully, everything else works.

I'm at 80 hours played on Persona 5. I'm guessing i'm somewhere around halfway through the story. I'm enjoying it, but its a different kind of experience. A lot of the game is time management, and choosing what you're going to do at different points in the day. You really have very little freedom, and its frustrating that it often just fast forwards through spots and doesn't let you do anything at all. But the story is good, and the battle and leveling systems are tight when you get the chance to do it.

I checked out Godhood. A pretty good "god game" which is really just an autobattler. You are a God, and you build up your prophets who auto battle it out. Build stuff, level them up, and hope for the best. As an indie game it is pretty good.

Playing the everloving **** out of Children of Morta on Switch with a buddy of mine. We're on New Game+ and really having a blast with it outside of some weird sound issues that can only be solved by rebooting the game. Only happens every now and then though.

So you’ve never tried it? It’s not terrible to try to get into it nowadays. You’ll just have to kiss the rest of your life goodbye.

No, it came out right as I moved somewhere where I couldn't get broadband access, and I lived there until two years ago. Other than some text based MUDs in the late 90s, I had never played anything like a MMO during until recently.

I bought ES Online last year for the PS4, and while it was OK, it just ate too much of my hard drive space, so I deleted it. I plan to try to get into it again after I get a PS5.

I went over the 100 hour mark in Persona 5 yesterday, and I think that I'm getting near to the end of the main story. But I know that the Royal edition has extra content tacked on after that point.

Always know a game is good when you break triple digits in hours and you're still going. For me anyway.

Would you recommend it? I've always been semi-interested in the Persona games but never took the dive.

It's certainly a different kind of game than I'm used to. Certainly the game that gives the player the least freedom and leeway of any I've played, even compared to ones like FF13. Its almost like you're playing an anime at times.

Mileage will of course vary depending on your own style, but as someone who exceptionally careful and methodical, and loves to spend time grinding and leveling up my characters, I'd say I've spent about 25% of the game actually exploring the "palaces" and dungeons and fighting enemies, about 10% more exploring the cities and neighborhoods of the game, and the rest of the time is basically spent either going through the story at the game's own pace, or choosing which characters you want to talk to, and what to say to them, or having your character do things by themselves to increase one of your stats. This is compared to an open world game like AC Odyssey, where I'd spend about 80% of my time exploring and fighting enemies, while I completed quests.

That said, the story is well written, smart and extremely deep. They do a good job of tying over a dozen different storylines together and having it feel rewarding when the connections take place as you go. Most of the characters are likable and have depth. The battle system, leveling system, money and loot systems all feel very balanced and fair and make logical sense. And if you tend to enjoy anime, manga and JRPGs, you'll likely enjoy the humor that's thrown in.

The negatives would be that if you want more freedom, this is NOT the game you're looking for. Much of it is basically choosing how to spend your time, and then having conversations where you make the choice of which option to say to the other person. The graphics are very much intended to be comic-style, and a lot of it is a hard on the eyes combination of black and very bright. And like a lot of stuff from Japan, the characters are mostly 16 and 17 year olds, yet look, talk and act older. They could have very, very easily been college students and had the overwhelming majority of the story not change at all. It would have likely given the player more freedom and choice, and I've read that they might do it with the next game in the series. I hope that they do.

I bought it for $35, which was on sale from I think $80. And I feel that its pretty fair at that level.

This is very much a YMMV game. I'm a huge fan of JRPGs but I found myself not enjoying the structure of this series, which I guess is Shin Megami Tensei.

There's a degree of finality to everything that you do that can either be liberating or claustrophobic depending on your mindset. For someone who didn't see themselves playing the New Game+ to get everything, I just couldn't get into it. After 10-15 hours I kind of floated away from it.

And that's why you buy games on sale.

Last night, at a pivotal point in the game's story, I spent between two and three hours essentially just watching it like a TV show. I had some choices in what I could say, but I don't know that even that had an effect on what happened. I'm curious as to how much I have left, and whether or not it will allow me to max things out before the end as much as I'd like. One of my frustrations is that it limits you on how much time you can spend doing this or that, so the player is forced to choose which directions to focus on. Whereas I'm usually a "dump as much time as necessary into it to do it all" kind of guy.

Under normal circumstances, I probably wouldn't do a NG+ on this one because there isn't any more DLC coming that I'd want that wasn't already included in the Royal edition, and I'm not sure how much I could do differently compared to the first time though. However, if I'm not able to get my hands on a PS5 for a while, then I won't have much else to play, and I might at least start it once I finish.

    So, random question.

Those of you who play on PS4, how many trophies do you have and do you care about collecting them?

I like to 100% games I like, but I dont always do it and I dont have THAT MANY games.

I think i have somewhere in the 580s or something with a few platinums.

    I have 1702 Trophies, and a level of 242.

    Zero Platinum.
64 Gold (largely from finishing games)
    254 Silver
    1384 Bronze

My biggest haul is from AC Odyssey, where I have 3 gold, 14 silver and 63 bronze. That one really rewards you for being digging into things and doing all that the game offers. Compare that to Uncharted 4, where I only have 9 bronze even though I played through it twice, because most of the ones in the game are for doing really hard or unusual things.

I dont particularly care either, but I find it gives just about any game more play time. So if I like the game and dont want it to end, or it's a hard game in general, I'll collect them.

That's a good number! I'm not sure of my full breakdown, I'll post it later when I'm home though to compare.

I feel like if I owned more games I'd have a lot more than I do just due to all the bronzes that you accidentally get just by playing.

I do know my rarest and probably most overall was the Megaman Legacy Collection. Last time I checked, according to what it says on the PS4 list it shows you that one was like 0.01% completion.

I don't generally try to do anything in order to get a trophy. But it can be fun to get one for doing something that I put a lot of time into, or to find that I'm one of only a small percentage of people to accomplish something within the game. The more freedom and choice that a game offers, or the more some things are hidden and you need to find, the more this is the case.

I think that its amusing that I have PS3 games on my list that I played through multiple times and have zero trophies. SO they're there, but empty. I guess the trophy system might have been retroactively added after I finished playing them.

If you're interested, you can also go to a website called TrueTrophies.com and enter your PSN ID and it will keep track also, and show you how you compare to other users of the site. They show you your number of trophies and PSN score the same as the PS4 does, but also assign you points of their own system based on giving values to different ones. Its a total novelty, but I look over it sometimes. My most valuable trophy in their system was for completing Greedfall with the best possible ending, which I didn't specifically set out to do, but worked out that way based on how I played. Its apparently extremely rare unless you know just what to say and do.

I updated my PS3 for the first time in years today, and updated a few of the games that my kids play the most while I was at it. I laughed that Little Big Planet 2 had 32 updates.

What I found weird was that although I was able to access the Playstation store and look at all the items, it won't let me download anything. Has this been turned off for the system? If so, why even leave it up to be looked at? It seems weird.

One trophy away from the Streets of Rage 4 Platinum so I'll probably finish that off and then start a new game of something.

I was looking at some other beat em up and 2D types potentially but I havent decided yet.

I got my platinum trophy in SOR4 but I'm a huge beat em up kick. I decided to try a little indieish game called River City Girls. It's a spin off/sequel to the old River City Ransom game. It's got a pretty generic story but some funny dialogue in places, for my dry sarcastic humor anyway.

River City Ransom was one of my favorite NES games of all time. I still remember when a friend and I "discovered" it at the local video rental place, and spent days doing nothing else. I also remember that there was apparently a sequel to the game that was made and sold in Japan on the SNES (Super Faicom?) that never came to the US, and I was really sad about that.

A year ago, I bought my PS+ membership on sale for $30, and its going to auto renew in two weeks unless I tell it not to. I'm pondering turning it off for the time being. I almost never play games online right now, and I'm not likely to for a while whenever I get my PS5 as well. And while I really enjoyed the free games that came along with the membership for a while, its been months since they had one that I was interested in.

Not on sale through the PS Store or the major retailers, as far as I can tell. I looked in the ads this morning.

And honestly, I haven't used the discounts a single time. They don't ever seem to be on games that I would wan to play.

Got my platinum trophy in the last game River City Girls, started an RPG called Rainbow Moon.

It's a turn based battle system but I kind of dig the mechanics. I think it was actually a PS3 game and it's available free on PSNow or w.e but I downloaded it on sale for $2.99

I decided to pause on Persona 5 after finishing the last big mission, before I complete the story and move onto the post game stuff. I've been playing it as my primary game since September, and its very repetitive.

So....I downloaded some new mods I hadn't used before, and got into Skyrim again, lol. They've been able to make the game way more beautiful on the PS4 than it ever was before.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War is free on Playstation Plus this morning, so I decided to give it a chance. I haven't played it since it was upgraded to remove the in game marketplace. Which is why I stopped playing since the way you make money in a game like this is to annoying me so I spend money to not be annoyed, which is just making the game worse.

It is a fun game, though very easy at first. One thing that made the first game fun was how hard it was at the beginning. It was the first game I played where failure was fun. I still haven't gotten to the part where it becomes siege base building.

It does make me wish they would make an Overlord type game where you get to play Sauron conquering middle earth.

Still working on the game I mentioned Rainbow Moon.

I'm actually really enjoying it. It's an RPG where the battles are strategic and turn based. The story is kinda generic and not a motivating factor, but it has some of the best balancing in battles I've ever experienced and it's fun to progress slowly but surely.

Almost every game I've ever played was simply a matter of leveling and you COULD level your way through, but it's one of the few games I've played where adjusting your strategy in battle the 2nd or 3rd try is just as effective and will normally let you progress by just barely clearing everything.

Early on poison is a major pain in the butt but eventually your party members all can learn passive skills that make them like 99% immune to it.
