Yeah and weren't like 9 of those points from FGs? Heck of a "clinic".

I'm sure Fitzpatrick would have put up 73 points today.

Tua has the wins? Or does the TEAM have the wins? Because the QB doesn't win or lose the game alone. And if the Bengals' D plays like they did today, and our offense plays like it did today, and they have Burrow, then we would have had trouble.

Wins and QBs will always be synonymous. Sorry pal it's been like that for 60 years.

I am doing cartwheels one the fact that winning a game by 12 can be disappointing.

Sheesh, both teams had zero wins last they played and we are the ones expected to win by double digits

It's assanine that fans of a team that hasn't had a franchise quarterback in 30 years can scoff at the notion that Tua can possibly be the one.

    LOL keep the wins coming.

No, flash. That's not what's happening. So, what have you seen to give you such a strong "notion" that the 30 year old wait is over and we finally have that guy?

Look guys, like I said in my last post we are still a very young team. Half of the team are new personnel from last season. Let's try and put some things into perspective, ok?

We're running a rookie quarterback. Personally I would have liked Tagovailoa to sit behind Fitzpatrick this season and learn from not only Fitzpatrick did right, but also what he did wrong. Mahomes sat behind Alex Smith for a year and look at him now. Tagovailoa could have learned just as much from Fitzpatrick, but that wasn't our call. We have what we have. Tua's going to go through his growing pains. During the lead up to the draft, I questioned whether or not Tagovailoa was the pick to go after. That being said however, of the "Big 3" quarterbacks drafted, I truly feel Tagovailoa is the one that's in the best opportunity to succeed. Cincinnati and San Diego are hot messes of teams and if Burrow or Herbert are going to succeed, it's going to take a number of years before those TEAMS are in a position to do so.

Having Gaskins back in the line-up was a great relief and helped the offense out a lot. 21 carries for 95 yards will help a young quarterback but he's still not the answer. Miami ranks 30th in the league in yards per carry. I've said it before and I'll continue to say it that we need that premier running back that can carry the ball 25 times a game for an average of 5 yards a carry. THAT will help Tua out quite a bit and I have a feeling Flores will address that in the offseason.

On the receiving corps side, we were bit with the injury bug losing Williams for the year. Parker and Gesecki are the go to targets, but we do need another big WR to give defenses yet another target to have to worry about.

Additionally, our run defense is absolutely atrocious! Pass defense? Yea, go ahead...the Mosh Pit is going to kill you but if you make an honest effort to run the ball against us, you're going to give us a run for our money. We definitely need to shore up that run defense. We keep giving too many opportunities to teams by allowing opposing running back to rip of 10-15+ yard runs.

Jason Sanders? I say we sign that kid for life!

The reason I point all of these things out guys? We have to remember that Flores has fielded an almost new team from last season...and that was essentially a team of replacements after gutting our roster from 2018. To be sitting at 8-4 and currently the number 6 seed for a playoff appearance is in itself incredible! I didn't expect us to be doing this well until 2021...and I've said that in the past.

Everyone relax guys. Remember who and what we are. Keep expectations realistic and be thankful for the wins we do get. If we win, we win...if we don't, we don't. We could truly be sitting below .500 right now and I wouldn't be disappointed with this season, but we've become accustomed to winning...and becoming overly critical. We're going to the playoffs. That's going to happen. We're probaboyu going to lose that Wild Card game. So what?!?!? We technically shouldn't be where we are right now, but that's a testament to Flores and the will to win he's instilled in these young players.

Next season? THAT'S the season I'm going to have GREAT expectations for the Dolphins.

No one is saying Tagovailoa can't be the team's franchise quarterback but like I said earlier, let's be fair and realistic. Tagovailoa has NOT played well, save the 2nd half of today's game. His play has been average at best. His fault? Maybe, maybe not. Chan Gaily opened the playbook and upped the tempo in the 2nd half which actually seemed to play to Tua's strengths. So it's possible the OC and his play calling was holding Tagovailoa back. But then again, I'm sure Flores ***LIT*** into the team at halftime because both sides of the ball were playing MUCH better in the 2nd half.

I'm optimistic and hopeful that Tua will be that franchise quarterback that will be with us throughout his career but I'm also realistic as well at what he's done and not done.

Are you talking only about today or all games up until now? I ask because you say "has not played well" rather than "did not play well". If it's all games then don't forget that Tua played fantastic in that Arizona game, so it's not just the 2nd half of today. Just making sure here. Otherwise, I agree that overall his play has been around average, which is fine for a rookie.

Anyone else watching Denver play KC tight? Granted, the Chiefs can turn things around on a dime, but I hope Flores and Boyer and getting some good takeaways into strategy.

I don't have an agenda for him at all, you must be confusing me with someone else. I dont think he's bad, I think he's playing bad. He doesn't look ready most of the time, but I get the fact that he's young and you're going to take lumps, especially in a season where he really had no camp. So rather than jumping to serve your own agenda... you need to relax a bit.

Sorry if you can't handle a little criticism on a player on this team. Doesn't mean everyone has an agenda, it's a simple assessment of his pretty dismal first half play. Grant shoulda caught the pass, it was perfect to me. He had to adjust a bit to the ball, but it was what, 60 yards downfield? That's as spot on as you're going to get. But he made some bad plays in that first half and he looked alot like the QB that got benched a few weeks ago. And yes, the FACT is he's been bailed out of several turnovers in his time starting. As I said they don't hit the stat sheet, but you still have to consider the decision making when you're looking at his progression.

Today in the first half I saw a QB that was hesitant, and lost makign some questionable decisions and didnt look on the same page as his WR's. As I said, looked alot like the QB that got benched earlier. So yeah, when you keep seeing that there's a place for concern. He didn't look like he belonged in the first half IMO. Not compared to how we move the ball with Fitz. He's playing scared or conservative IMO. Second half, different story. He anticipated better, he threw nice passes, he used his legs and made a play rather than freezing under pressure. Plenty of reason for concern and plenty of reason for optimism in my opinion at this point. The second half was as encouraging as the Arizona game IMO. That's the Tua I want to see so we win plenty of games, not the first half Tua. Sorry if that bursts your bubble. Don't be so fragile.

And man do we need a better backfield. Like, way better. Etienne or Harris early please, and hell, maybe go for Aaron Jones in free agency too. That would be a nasty two-headed monster, and hopefully our young line will only get better. We could potentially upgrade Karas though.

I agree completely. Unfortunately though, we have folks here that love being on one side of the fence or the other- either Tua is an instant Hall of Famer or he's hot garbage. Neither of those statements are true and he's still adapting to NFL speed with a young line, a weak running game and his favorite target out for the season (Williams). That's not optimal for any rookie QB...but at least we have an amazing D that really shows up when it matters. It's "saved him" in a way since he hasn't needed those massive Burrow/Herbert efforts to try and score 40+ a game with a horrible team around him.

Tua does a lot of things well and he still has a long way to go. People just need to calm down and take a breath here....it's his rookie year and he's on an 8-4 Dolphins team. I honestly can't understand any of this hostility over someone mentioning Fitz or Tua playing poorly at times- rookies are supposed to play poorly at times. There's nothing at all for anyone here to be mad about....yet certain people just keep stirring the pot trying to get instant hot take reactions.

Can we all please come to an agreement here and end this senseless hostility over Tua/Fitz/Burrow/Herbert/etc? It's not like any of us get a say on who starts next week anyway, and it's foolish to keep these hate-fests going over nothing. The Dolphins are a freakin' 8-4 team going into December- all this senseless bickering needs to end.

I've been saying the same thing all season long. I know it's not popular opinion these days to grab the best back in the 1st round, but someone does it every year and it makes an impact. I think we're one stud RB away from being a really dangerous offense.

No, I meant what I said...in general he hasn't played well.

He did alright in the game against Arizona and I literally mean alright. Two of the 3 touchdown drives were aided by pass interference and unnecessary roughness penalties on Arizona's defense. He also had a few ill advised passes, one that was initially ruled an interception that was overturned on replay. He also had an intentional grounding penalty followed by an 11 yard sack. He had a few GOOD passes but he literally played alright in that game. A lot of his yardage came on YAC after short passes. We ran the ball well and that helped him out a lot in that 2nd TD drive.

In all of his other games, including the first half of today's game, Tua has not played well. I'm not hating on Tagovailoa. I'm being realistic, fair and honest.

I see. Then I disagree. I think he played fantastic in the Arizona game, even more so than the 2nd half of today. I also think he played terrible in Denver and that one shouldn't lump the rest of Tua's play with how he played in Denver — it was that bad — except arguably the 1st half of today. Otherwise, I think he's played mostly around average.

When someone doesn't think that he didn't play excellent in the Arizona game you know the bias is strong.

Tua made throws today in the second half that made me erect.

This team needs wide receivers that can get open and catch the ball consistently.

Running back will be the last of their priorities on offense this off-season.

I don't think a playoff caliber team drafting RB in the mid-late first or early second is a bad thing, especially if it's a glaring need.

More like a crappy team picking early taking a RB over premier spots like QB, DE or LT is bad management, like the Giants and Barkley, is what gets panned.

We need both. Someone like Juju would be a good free agent target to pair with Parker. Him and Aaron Jones? Sure thing, depending on cap room.

I wouldn't be horrified by going WR and RB early either. Maybe Smith at WR in 1 and Harris in round 2. Not that I'm intentionally trying for an Alabama reunion hah.

Four picks in the first 2 rounds, we need to use some to increase our offensive firepower, maybe add to the LB corps and maybe a pass rusher. I could do with that.

If you're referring to me, which I believe you are...I have no anti-Tagovailoa bias. I've had, and still have concerns about him but I've also said I believe he can be that franchise quarterback for the Dolphins for entire career. He played extremely well in the 2nd half of yesterday's game...what we've all been waiting to see. Hopefully the coaching staff (Gailey) is going to open the playbook up and up the tempo for our remaining games and we can see the high power capability of Tua for the remainder of the season and beyond..

Tua's second throw of the 2nd half at 14:15, lightning quick release laser pass in between two defenders to Gesicki.

And the throw where he escapes pressure, rolls out to the left and tear drops a perfect pass to Gaskin over two defenders.

Those are the two throws that gave me an erection yesterday.

I dont see any valud way to look at Tua in the game except this.

His first half was awful. His second half was a lot better individually.

If you get the QB from the second half consistently you're doing fine. If you get the first half QB consistently 0-4 is a legitimate possibility to end the season.

It was. Personally I have no questions about his ability to make plays moving left and he seems to be adept at it.

The question going forward is can he open up the whole field because a good defense isnt going to just let you do what you're comfortable with all day.

I think the fact Tua has now shown twice high level ability — Arizona (which IMO was more impressive because we needed to score on multiple drives the way Murray was playing) and the 2nd half of yesterday's game — suggests that it's going to become more likely to see that Tua in the future.

I don't think he'll consistently perform like that this year, but it will be increasingly more likely. At least that's my prediction, taking into account expected acclimation and improvement you tend to see with rookies.

Very optimistic we have our QB, even if it takes another year before consistent above average play sets in.

I think you're really underestimating how hard it is to extend downwards and forwards while running to catch a ball trailing away from you and wobbling like a punt.

I maintain he should have caught it but it's in no way hands of stone and I'm not convinced he isnt tackled as he recovered from going off balance if he does catch it, though I'd need to see where the defender was again, I'm not sure if he fell or was just a step behind.

This is what someone mentioned before, regarding Tua vs Tannehill. You say that you've seen flashes, and that gives you the belief that Tua is the future. Not for nothing, but that's what we were saying every season about Tannehill. We'd see flashes, and others would disregard flashes in favor of win%, sacks, etc.
