Just kind of a summary for those who might not have time or get a chance to catch up on today's happenings. We try to gleam some of the important/interesting stuff that are topics/questions on the forum. http://www.thephins.com/index.php?o...ay-afternoon-news-and-notes&catid=15:dolphins
Really nice write-up. You do it yourself Muck? Just had one little question. In the quote below, you talk about the Jets praising Donald Thomas but you put a quote of Thomas praising the Jets. Is that an misinterpretation by me or is that right?
Trying to keep Ricky and Ronnie fresh for what? The offseason? I can understand Ronnie to a point because he is coming off an injury, but you need to win the game, and those guys need to be in the game to win.
"They're real good.... One of the best defensive lines we'll see this year" how can Thomas, a rookie, make an unequivocal comment about the quality of the Jets D-line in relation to whomever else he'll face all year? Muck nice write-up to whomever wrote that.
Didn't make sense to me either. You have two "star" runningbacks, that in and of itself should accomplish what he says he is trying to accomplish (keeping guys fresh) without detriment to the team. Adding Cobbs to the mix seems like overkill IMO.
I'm still ticked. Our WRs were getting negated all game. You got a guy who carried the whole jets defense (about 10 guys) 8 yards for a first down a couple years back. We don't have Glenn and TO and Crayton, we threw it to Bess, a 5'8" UDFA. He is wonderful, but that is not the right decision no matter what. R&R still gave us a better chance. Less variables. Give them the ball, put a FB in front and freaking mow them down.
Thanks. Yes, it's me. I write all of them. Admittedly I probably could have written that part better. He said the Jets lineman were giving him props after the game. He didn't really give any specifics beyond "keep working" and "you're going to be a good player". So I was general with that line.
He did use the word 'probably' before that, albeit before a few other mumbling words. It was in my literal translation and for whatever reason I didn't include it at the beginning of that re-written sentence. So I have to say that I misquoted him, in that I didn't properly relay what he was trying to say. I've corrected that in the article and will take due care of that in the future.
Thanks. We've been doing them for months. This is just the first time I've actually drawn attention to it. The things we have going on the home page (roster, depth chart, etc.), we keep them pretty well updated.
My bad. I guess I will have to change my bookmark to the front page instead of the forums page. Anyway, new or not, great job!
Well, I don't know, but Cobbs getting more touches than Brown or Williams still doesn't make sense... Particularly the point at which he was in as the 3rd down guy, with the game on the line...I don't see it as a very good move...
Attaboy!!! Why Ginn wasn't returning kicks is a mystery to me, although the way he handled the ones he did get I can maybe see why. But needless to say I was VERY excited to see Bess step up and do well w/ his opportunity.
I think you answered your own question. Bess was decisive made people miss and didn't get too horizontal. That was a knock on Ginn coming into the season. That he needed to stop dancing and just 'go' (the latter on kickoffs more so). I was hoping Lorenzo Booker could have been the punt returner last year, as his skill set is perfect for it IMO. But the dude couldn't field the kicks, which is kind of a problem. But back to Ginn, he hasn't shown a lot of that quickness to make those first guys miss. As we saw in preseason, he's got the long speed to make things happen once he's going. But on punts, you gotta make guys miss.
Cause it ain't. You put your best players in to win the game. If Ricky and Ronnie were tired then you didn't do your job getting them conditioned properly. This could be the first situation where our new coach has outsmarted himself. I hope it's the last time.
From what I understand Cobbs is in on third down mainly for blitz pickup. Take it for what its worth.
not buying that. RB is an excellent blocker and an even better receiver out of the backfield. This move makes zero sense on any level. RW or RB MUST be the go to guys when the game is on the line. Every HC will make some poor calls, and this is TS's first. Let's hope BP gives him some stern advice.
Yep. Bess seems to juke the first 2 or 3 guys on every return. Not sure if he's got enough to go the distance with it, but he'll at least give our O great FP. Very special player, and what a find as an undrafted FA.
Not saying I was buying either. Thats why I say for what its worth. I believe it was Sparano who said that was why he was in there. I think you are absolutely correct. We need our best players in, especially in a goal to go situation. Heck I would even entertain the idea of using Ronnie as FB and Ricky as a RB (or visa versa) and you can run it or you can playaction and hit one out of the back field if they load the box on an either or play (run/pass) depending on the defense faced during presnap reads.
My brother and I (TheWeasel) have a good laugh all the time about not bringing your 'A" Game if you post on this site. If you DON'T, someones gonna drill ya. That's the reason I don't attempt very many technical post. I'm to lazy to do the research. Anyway, I'd much rather play linebacker and respond to post than create them. Nice work Muck. I forgive ya. OBTW, just do the job right the first time. You might as well, they are going to call you on it if you don't.
