Ha. 32? ...I hear ya', bro. I hope. However, we would have to give this year's first. There is no way we can hope to get him without giving up that pick. It is going to have to be a lot more to get him.

Yeah that doesn't make sense, but I don't think there is any way possible to not part with #3 in a Watson trade. It's unlikely enough to happen as is, let alone if Miami starts deeming such things as untouchable. Just not gonna happen.

I still think there is a solid chance Iggy ends up as a safety, not a nickel or CB.

I think Iggy, like Rowe would be really good at Safety where the jury is out at CB

Absolutely. IMO, you're not a very good GM if you don't at least have a conversation about any player that you think can improve your team. Especially, a QB.

Well, as of today this is officially real now, and not just speculation then. Normally, when this kind of story makes it out there, it means that the two teams have actually started talking, and the question is to whether they can agree on a price. However, Houston's situation is truly weird right now, so they may in fact be stonewalling the rest of the league and not returning anyone's calls. We've seen Denver, Carolina, and now Miami all make it known that they want to talk to them this week, so maybe its all a way to try and make it clear that they need to pick up the phone.

I'm not sure that's what it means at all. Miami can have all the interest in the world and Watson can be dead-set on playing for Miami, but it's still up to the Texans to start the conversation. They essentially have 3 more months until draft day and they're going to have to figure out how to make this as pain-free as possible...another mis-step sets the Texans back a decade.

Fun story. One of my first adult jobs was at Ballys/Scandinavian Health Spas just down the street from where the current Miami facility is in Davie. The GM there tried to hustle me, I caught him in it and he offered me a job. And on the first day, he taught me how to sell anything.

Step one, relay the benefits for the customer (better health, better fitness, better life, etc.)
Step two, tell them the price of the membership and place the contract in front of them.
Step three, shut up. Don't say another word until the client speaks.

Why? Because if I give my pitch and drop down the contract in front of them, there's nothing else to say that's better than what I've already said in the sales pitch. Anything I add from that point forward gives them a chance to rebutt me....if I say, they'll feel so much better getting in shape, then they can say they might not have time. Or they're already in pretty good shape. Or a 100 other things. By me speaking, I'm automatically placing myself on defense and giving them the opportunity to walk away.

However, if I shut up, smile and just listen, then I can stay on offense. Like in boxing, I just sit back and wait to counter-punch. They'll give an excuse...I don't have enough time, money, energy, whatever and then I can counter that appropriately. And once I do that, I shut up again and wait once more.

By the way, that job SUCKED! I despised everything about that place and quit in less than a month. But I did learn a thing or two about how the world works from them.

Basically, Houston is in that EXACT position as people who get scammed at overpriced health clubs. They know it's in their best interests to make a deal happen, but if they speak first then they appear desperate (which they clearly are) and they lose the few ounces of leverage that they had. So they have to play it this way, stay stone faced and let people call them...all the while hoping that they don't wait too long and waste their golden ticket. Meanwhile, they're absolutely desperate for people to call and make offers. They are so screwed without that, LOL!

In this case, I think Miami is smart enough to be that counter-puncher. They're interested but not TOO INTERESTED. Because that's the game within the game, just like a chess match, you can't show your hand and it's often best to just shut the heck up and let the game unfold before you.

I can absolutely see a little Honey Badger/Earl Thomas in Iggy. But I also see him on the Island. Kids got skilz, just needs to match his eyes to his brain and let his feet follow. Takes a year or two, just like Wrs. If they let Bobby McCain Face go I could see Iggy sliding into that role on the D

Biggest thing most people miss in sales. Shut the Eff up!
And life is sales so thats good advice for every relationship you have, professional, private, family...Present your case, be real about it, then shut up and listen.
My favorite "close"... paperwork on the table, hand them a pen, sit back.
    First person to talk loses

You don't have to have a physical product for these rules to apply. Works for job interviews, dates, any negotiation. You are always selling yourself.

    ALWAYS BE CLOSING!!!

A short(ish), simple review of some of the different aspects that will influence a trade for Watson - and why this individual thinks that, ultimately, the Dolphins will not be interested in acquiring him.

Watson IS NOT a sure thing no more than Mahomes is a sure thing to get at least one TD in the Superbowl but, 4 1st rd picks is a sure thing to improve your team.

No, 4 1st round picks are not a sure thing. Teams bust on high first round picks all the time. We busted on a third overall with Deion Jordan not that long ago.

I only see so far at least 2 players in the last decade worthy of a 1st rd selection.Tunsil and Fitz and we traded away both.
So yea give me Waston.First rd picks are overrated.

I'd probably be willing to ***** slap Ross and Grier's mamas if they let that happen. Oh HELL NO!

Christian Wilkins needs to be the soul of this team.

I'd feel better if they just pay Fitz starter money, give him 10-12 a year for the next 2 to compete and push and learn how to coach and be ready to ball when he gets he call. And draft a QB in the second or third if you want more competition for Tua.

I honestly don't want to see ANY of the players mentioned so far as trades for Watson traded to the Texans. Eff that team. Trade them back their picks is all I want to see. If not I'd rather see what kind of house these guys (Grier and Flo) can build with the tools and materials they have.

Watsons a GREAT player, but he's not a team.

So we get Watson and we get to keep #18 and one of our 2nds this year which means we have one 1st and one 2nd like any other normal draft....and we keep our 1st in 2022? Sign me the **** up. Wilkins isn't anything special, even if he was as good as the DT we should've drafted that year (Jeffery Simmons) I'd probably still do this deal.

Watson is not going to be a Texan next season. If we don't do what we need to do in order to trade for him, the Jets will. Then we can deal with Watson AND Allen for the next ten years and not sniff an AFC East championship that whole time.

I’m sure Watson would want him here considering they’re really good friends but no way Wilkins would keep me from getting a deal done...as a player he’s hardly irreplaceable.

I saw this on Yahoo Sports today as a potential trade scenario-

"The Texans trade Watson and pick up Miami's No. 3 and No. 18 overall picks along with an undisclosed future first-round pick. Houston also adds cornerback Xavien Howard and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. With the No. 3 pick in the draft, the Texans select Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields.

Then former New England Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio helps out his old team with the quarterback situation. The Texans deal Tagovailoa to the Patriots for the AFC East club's No. 15 overall selection. Houston then uses that pick to select Florida State cornerback Asante Samuel, Jr."

This trade would literally make me lose it- but it's a possibility. Personally, I think that's giving up too much overall since Tua = a 1st round pick and Howard = two 1st round picks. That's giving 6 first rounders for a franchise QB.

I would counter w/ Tua, Howard and #3 overall OR Tua, Howard, #18 overall and a 2022 1st.

Howard seems to want out anyway, so I'd definitely work the best CB in the league into the conversation and hype his value as much as possible.

Hate to say it but I don’t think Tua is worth a 1st round pick at this point. I’d hate losing X since he’s such an integral part of our defense. Really hope this trade doesn’t happen unless we fleece them again.

If we trade Howard I'd rather do it in a separate trade. I don't think we'd get two 1sts, maybe a 1st and a 2nd.

I'm a FSU guy till I die. I like Samuel but there is no way he's a top 15 draft pick. He's good but he's not that good.

As much as I like me some Daniel Jeremiah, I think that's a very overly simplistic viewpoint. Miami and the Jests may be the obvious front runners based on current draft capital, but I still think a team like Carolina could be a serious suitor. WFT and Chicago too, perhaps to a slightly lesser extent.

Houston will want him out of the conference if at all possible.

NFL Network just spent ten straight minutes talking about Watson, and never came close to talking about the actual problem he has, which is ownership. Hard to address a topic when you aren't allowed to, I guess.
