Anyone here going to be watching the draft live and if so - any particular plans? Getting together with any other fans in person or online? Day 1 only? And is there anything anyone here would like to do?
Probably not going to watch it, 2am little late/early for me. Looking forward to doing some research on or draftees and how people here are going to react to our draft.
I'm toying with the idea of taking a day off the next day. Staying up for the first pick would be okay, but 18 will be a late arrival. I do this each year though, and then wonder why I bothered because it's not as though the news changes the next day!!! With the league's growing international focus they might need to consider moving things like this to a Friday night where it's the weekend the next day. Then day 3 they can finish on a Monday, because it will draw far fewer people.
I organized a NFL draft party for our breakfast club 2 years ago. Weren't able to get together last year due to Covid but we're getting back on track next Thursday. I'll also watch rounds 2-4 and then probably occasionally check in after that. What about you Galant?
I'm over in Europe, so round 1 will be a start around 2am. And then work the next day. Not a lot of options here. The only other NFL fan I know is a Patriots fan, and he hasn't always been the nicest about it, so there aren't any local options. I might just waste a night's sleep and watch it by myself. If I do, I might be on here.
I was invited to get tickets for the draft from a local Fins group, but I couldn't see traveling during COVID just for that. Would have probably been pretty cool though to see it live....maybe next year if it's an option again. I'll watch the 1st round on TV then peek at the rest online....really only interested in the first two rounds this year since I never researched past that.
Will definitely watch the first two rounds; with four early picks, Miami is in play for almost anyone, so I’ve read about more players than most years. Plus, there are the increasing rumors of first round trades, so there’s that to look forward to. After that, it will be online check ins to see where the droppers end up.
West Coast here, so I am going to watch the entire first day and second day of the draft. I probably will not watch the third day because my fiance lives out of town and I will probably be visiting her that day. Which is fine because Miami doesn't have many picks that day. Do people have ESPN+? Do they show the draft?
Where to watch: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft...-tv-streaming-options-for-all-three-days/amp/ Looks like it will stream free on the NFL app: https://www.nfl.com/draft/ways-to-watch/
While I absolutely hate that the draft is in Prime Time here on the East Coast instead of being around lunch on the weekend, I'll be watching live. This will be the 30th year that I've watched the Draft, and like every other one, I'll be alone on my coach, lol.
Definitely watching days 1-2. Day 3 I will probably be at work during most of it, so that's disappointing but gotta get that bag. I've watched pretty much every day of every draft for the past 20 years or so, always been a big deal to me. Hard to really explain why, but I love it. I do hope they chill a bit on the sob stories this year though, and (prior to last year's pandemic edition) I found the fanfare to be a little much and taking away from the core of the event - the prospects and the fit with the teams. Hopefully the networks get back to that a bit.
LMAO, tell your coach I said hi! As a writer, I love innocent typos that take on a completely different meaning. I do that kind of thing all the time and can't see it on my own stuff. =)
I want to see our picks live, but at the same time I can't stand the commentary once it gets out of the early rounds. Sometimes they'll talk about a player for 10 minutes as 5-6 picks get zero attention or even an announcement. So I'll leave the TV on but go do something in another room while trying to time it perfectly...which never works, LOL.
I'll have ABC/ESPN's coverage on TV and run NFL Network's coverage on my Amazon Fire TV. Will also be monitoring Twitter closely because they usually get the picks about a minute before they're announced on TV. Finally, I'll have probably two browser windows dedicated solely to draft coverage (probably CBS Sports, ESPN, Fox Sports or NFL.com). Love having a pick early and mid-round because it'll keep me engaged.
After round 4, they like to hear themselves talk. Sometimes, they'll conduct an interview and let a couple of picks go unannounced. By round 5, I'm off the TV and on Draft Tracker solely for the rest of the draft. This only changes if I have a favorite player who dropped.
My phone is super aggressive with auto correct sometimes! It'll change one real word into a different one far too often.
I would have been headed to the local watering hole to watch round one, but had to quit drinking so thats out of network. So it will just be me and the dawg. I'll watch round one and two, but after that I got other ish to do. Of course I'll be checking here to enjoy the panic attacks and instant judgements thru the days.
I've been unable to get the Friday off so since I'm going to have to work I don't think I'm going to stay up and watch it. So I'll be looking for the results the day after.
I think I'll watch round 1, possibly round 2. I'm working from home so, luckily, I can afford an extra hour in bed if needed.
I'm in England so I guess it starts at 1am here as usual. I am assuming I won't be very productive on teams the next day
If I can knuckle down and compose some extra emails and letters the day before and hold them back, I can fire them off at various points throughout the day, in between snoozes and at least give the appearance of being productive. It's not like I haven't done it before...
We actually could draft a punter late, given that we don't have a long term answer there. Doesn't look like a great year at the position though. The top guy is 27 years old and from Australia .
