Meet Evans the Atom, who will end the world on Wednesday | Mail Online A year of college physics doesn't qualify me to question either side of this debate but I would hope that the courts err on the side of caution. 4 years? Well, at least I will have my Ph.D. before the earth is turned to toast.
Well, after watching the Dolphins lose another winnable game, it makes me feel like this experiment is win/win if you know what I mean.
God...its not like its wackos making these quotes.... I havent got the foggiest idea about this...its WAY ABOVE MY PAY GRADE...could their be anything to this?
This guy, Dr. Brian Cox, works at CERN on the ATLAS project. He his a full professor of physics at the Royal Society University Research Fellow based in the Particle Physics group at the University of Manchester, and holds a chair in Particle Physics. Here he explains what goes on at CERN [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6uKZWnJLCM&feature=related]YouTube - Brian Cox: What really goes on at the Large Hadron Collider[/ame] I'll grant you, while Dr. Cox seems a bit goofy, he was not the trend setter in that arena. I'd also like to promote ted.com who posted Dr. Cox's seminar.
Without knowing how/if Dr. Rossler calculated the time between the collision at CERN and the quasar events, it would be impossible to know if the 4 year (~ December 2012) prediction that seems to be fortold by the Maya calendar was coincidental or planned.
Damn I just knew those Mayans were right!! Hate to say it guys but I'm glad I'm 67, its sure been nice knowing y'all.
Tomorrow. But if the media reports are to be believed, it's already leaking large quantities of idiot particles. The death threats seem to have ticked upward on the eve of this thing's firing.
9:30 AM local time, from what I can tell. (5PM Melbourne time appears to be 9:30 at the France/Switzerland border, where the LHC is built.) No headcrabs yet. Got a crowbar ready just in case I need to pull a Gordon Freeman.
we are still alive........soooooooo we should be ok? jesus ill only be 25 in 4 years....i really hope those guys are wrong
It takes a few weeks for the particles to accelerate to the necessary speeds. Flipping the switch today just began the process. We're all still DOOMED, apparently. The end is just taking its time. It's pretty shocking how much FUD this thing has generated.
I don't understand how the particles can continue to accelerate after the collision, since they will have to pass through the walls of LHC, the ground above it, and through the atmosphere if they escape "up", and though the earth if they escape "down", but I could be wrong. On a side note, this from Stephen Hawking:
Takes the particles a few weeks to get up to speed, just like how NASCAR drivers get a couple of laps to get up to speed before the race begins.
This seems appropriate: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGqroT1FZ5Y]YouTube - REM End Of The World As We Know It (And I feel Fine).[/ame]
Ok I've marked down the date December 21 2012,but if this doesn't happen all my family and friends are really going to be upset with me come Christmas.
