I think it was Saban who said that Waddle was the most popular teammate after Tua left.

No more excuses for Tua at this point IMO. Especially if we come back at 18 for Etienne or Harris.

Parker, Fuller, Waddle at WR.. Gesicki still there. There's skill and talent there for him now.

I could definitely see him available at 12, but after that it gets dicey - that speed plays and teams always take speed. Smith - without the size and without the measurable speed - was/is most likely to fall into the later teens.

I’m not upset about the pick or anything. He has a chance to be a huge playmaker.

But I’m not going to lie, it didn’t feel like a big win. That’s for sure.

To those saying we should've stayed at 3, I respectfully disagree. IMO we should've stayed at #12 and kept the extra 1st rounder we got from SF. Waddle ain't worth 2 1st's, much less #6 overall.

At least we picked a WR. I would have been livid had they gotten cute with defense.

Doubt this was the Dolphins' first choice though. Didn't like the trade we made (I thought we got way too little in return), and in hindsight staying at #3 would've been better, but so be it. At least we got a good prospect at WR. Wanted Chase or Pitts.

Feels like it, but I won’t be surprised to hear it come out that Detroit really liked him or something. These teams know more about each others grades than we do.

Trades down aren't always available. But Waddle would have been available at 12. This was a huge error.

I'm surprised to see a lot of teams saying that they had Waddle as their highest rated WR. I wonder what they really liked about Waddle or really disliked about Smith and Chase.

I was kind of hoping to go all offense with the first 10.

Let's see if Denver takes a QB or if they will let Teddy and Locke battle it out.

A lot of teams are absolutely clueless. If more teams actually knew what they were doing the league would be a lot more competitive.

With all the Rodgers rumours with the Broncos, this pick becomes fascinating.

    Double CB, well that's something!

Jones and Fields slide further. I feel that New England becomes the target for other teams to beat, and I think Dallas is now much more willing to do that.

    No way.

IMO we either go for a RB, trade down or take a defensive player.

    Dark horse: Creed Humphrey.

Yeah, might as well if he drops all the way to 18. At least one or two of the WR corp will be injured based on history during any given season.

If the defense was the same as 2020, the team would be fine. Getting the offense up to good from poor-average is the easiest way to improve the team and get into the playoffs this year.

Adding a fourth WR isn't doing that imo. RB is a bigger upgrade despite positional value, and we don't have a C on the roster. Skura can't snap the ball.

This. It definitely isn't a 'wow' moment.

But, I feel like this is the kind of pick that we'll appreciate in October when the offense is moving much more fluidly. This is a big upgrade to our WR corps.

Between Waddle and Fuller, that speed has a chance to rip some secondaries apart.

    Smith is off the board.

Perhaps the player I'm most intrigued to see how he plays out just due to his size.

It also let's us cut Grant without any regrets. That frees up a large chunk of the money we need to sign this class.

Not that hard to get good production from a RB drafted in the second or third round. I'd like Javonte Williams at #36 though, then a Center at #50.

Well that debate is over lol.

As an aside, my non-football following wife who is occasionally glancing at the TV while making something called a pivot table in Excel has remarked twice on Smith as "the scrawny guy" lol.

Man, he could be great, but that frame man, that frame. Good luck in Philly young man.
