I would buy a ps5 for a lot of games! But I don't expect I'll be able to find one by then.

There is a dude on twitter who said they could get me one. I am very wary that it is an obvious scam. So I am not even going to try through them.

I am only buying one via a big box store, where I can have a receipt and buy an extended protection plan. If that means I wait until 2023, then I guess that's what will happen.

More news from chip manufacturers, this time Toshiba, that the shortage is going to last at least another year.

I have been following a few PS5 Lookout users on Twitter. I got in Twitter today and saw Amazon had PS5s for Prime users. Saw the post was only 2 minutes old. Joined primed. Ordered a Ps5. It just arrived.

Looking forward to getting Miles Morales tomorrow.

My standard PS4 is completely fine with no issues, same as when I bought it seven years ago. But my problem is that more and more games are being made that take more power than my machine has, and I get a less than ideal experience because of that. I'm largely just going on hiatus from buying many games until I can get my own PS5.

Yea, it is a fine machine. Just takes 26 hours to transfer all the data over wifi.

I am going to get the new Spider-Man game. Honestly, I didn't get a game because I didn't believe it was happening until the PS5 showed up on my doorstep

Its not even the data transfer that bothers me. Its the games that push things with light and shadows and whatnot to the highest end, and while they work on the PS4 Pro and the PS5, it looks like garbage on the standard PS4. The last few editions of MLB The Show have been this way, and look far worse than ones from a few years ago. And AC Valhalla is this way also - looking much worse than Odyssey on my machine. I've read various reviews for other games that have said the same thing.

I was going to get Spider-Man today, however, I am not feeling great so I shouldn't go into stores. Getting the test. So I ordered off Amazon Prime, will get it tomorrow.

I am looking forward to that. The other Spider-Man was the most fun I had playing a game since the first Shadow Over Mordor.

Those games don't appeal to me at all, but I know that they're incredibly popular with just about everyone else.

That's crazy. I feel like that would be right up your alley. Marvel, open-world, some lite RPG character progression.

    Color me surprised.

The gameplay is just a big turnoff for me. I have no interest in playing as Spiderman at all.

After seeing more about the game, I'm actually intrigued about the Guardians of the Galaxy. Everyone says that its similar to Mass Effect with a Marvel skin. I'm going to keep an eye on that one.

Ultimately, what I would really love is a party based Marvel RPG game, akin to Dragon Age Inquisition. But I don't expect we'll get that any time soon.

I know, it is nuts. Spider-Man is one of the most fun games I have played period. One of the few games I played from beginning to end without a break. So much fun.

That has potential to be fun. I am wondering what the new Marvel XCom type game is going to turn out.

I haven't played one of the Marvel/Capcom games in ages. I had fun with the original arcade game when I was in college, which I guess was basically at the very end of the real arcade era. I played the PS2 version with friends a lot for a short time around 2002-2004, but haven't ever since. No strong desire to do more fighting games, really. I tried the newest Street Fighter game a while back because it was free with PS+ and didn't enjoy it.

XCom isn't a fighting game. It is a turned-based team strategy game where you fight against aliens. The company that made X-Com is making Marvel's Midnight Sun.

I am curious if it turns out to be a fun game.

I completely read your comment wrong as Marvel vs Camcom, which I had seen earlier this morning was making a comeback. My bad!

Managed to snag a PS5 (albeit disc version) from the Sony store online, after getting through a random queue. Was the 3rd time I waited through the queue over a few months I think, but success this time.

Now just need to get games.

Also apparently my wife had been trying to get me one for some time, and was slightly disappointed I managed to get one myself first. She can get some games instead at least. :P

    Congrats!

My local Best Buy actually had at least one in stock last week, but I became aware far too late to get in line to have a chance. I spoke to the manager at my local Gamestop yesterday, and he said that they still have never had one in their building. He agreed that it looks like at least another year at least before stores will regularly have any.

Happy Anniversary! Having a woman that you can game with, or at least is cool with you doing so, makes the relationship a lot better.

I was looking forward to the PSVR2, but the price is above what I expected at $550.

    https://www.playstation.com/en-us/ps-vr2/

I didn't buy the original PSVR until a year after it released, so it will probably be the same thing with the second one. I'd expect to see a Black Friday sale for $499 with maybe a game included (Horizon: Call of the Mountain maybe?) in late 2023.

Some games will probably get updated to run on the new hardware, but a lot probably won't, so I really don't want to get rid of my PSVR hardware and games either. Beat Saber with the Move controllers was the perfect way to play that game and as good as the new controllers will be for most other games, it wouldn't be the same.

I am thinking of getting the PSVR2 now that it's out and solid reviews, though want to wait until controller charging station is back in stock.

    Talk me out of it.

Wait for Sony to prove that they're actually going to incentivize developers more this time around and also wait for the library to get more padded. If you can hold out until this Fall you'll probably get a decent deal on it and there will be more for you to immediately play.

You could offer me a free one and I'd decline. Just no appeal to the tech to me.

Now, if we get to something like The Matrix, or the Animus from AC, then I'll have some interest.

Well I have a Rift, so I am definitely interested in the tech. It provides a gaming experience that simply can't be replicated (or hasn't been in any manner I have experienced at least).

I can appreciate people not being interested, but declining a free one seems an unusual stance. Worst case, you don't like it and turn around and sell (or gift) to someone else.

You sound like a very reasonable and patient person.

As someone who has been an early adopter a handful of times (looks at HD-DVDs and players), I have unfortunately proven not to be.

I spent a lot of my young adulthood as an early adopter. Broadband, HDTV, video game consoles as soon as I could get my hands on them. But just not VR. My eyesight sucks as it is, anything 3D video gives me tons of trouble, and I just can't stomach having something that close to my eyes.
