Salah was amazing vs Man City. Both goals were fantastic runs. That second goal was world class. Goal of the year.

I felt the same about the game. Disappointed in the tie after two leads. But could have been a loss. Milner should have been sent off.

Imo, Milner just didn’t belong on the pitch Sunday. When he and Henderson are in the same 11 the offensive limitations are too much, imo. And that lack of threat allowed Man City to get comfortable.

Not having Keita, Thiago, or Trent for that game hurt. Or Elliott, of course. Really need another starting caliber top tier midfielder. You know, like a wijnaldum lol.

The polish kid they have been rumored to be on - Koslowski - is intriguing but probably too young to help this team. But really a de Bruyne type (obviously he’s the best in the world). Someone with some speed, ball control, passing and a shot would open things up for the front 3.

Wonder if Bissouma is going to happen?

This is pretty frustrating. Esp. Re Curtis Jones.

There needs to be a better system both with respect to the schedule during Covid protocols and with respect to the treatment of players on the national teams vis-a-vis their clubs.

Klopp is spot on with all this, imo.

We are down 4 midfielders when including the Elliott injury- Elliott; Thiago; Fabinho; Curtis Jones.

I would like to see Tsimikas or Neco Williams considered as a midfielder for the Watford game. They have more attacking prowess than any of the other potential starters (Milner, Keita, O-C, and Henderson). Williams played as an attacking midfielder before he can to Liverpool. Williams-Hendo-Keita would be something I’d like to see - given the others that are out. O-C is another but he just hasn’t flashed much of late. I’d reserve Milner for a second half sub if we are ahead.

Well, as bad as the Dolphins season has been, at least there is Mo Salah.

Not a player I like watching more than him.

Obviously, Messi and Ronaldo have been the Gold Standard the past decade plus, perhaps of all time. Salah is just a notch below (though I think he is better at this point - in his prime as they appear to be past their prime).

Mo Salah … the Egyptian King!

Meant to post these a couple of weeks back. We went to Fado's Irish Pub in ATL to watch the Liverpool game with 100 or so Liverpool fans (part of the LFC ATL fan club). That photo is less than 1/2 of the fans that were there. First time to do that. Had a blast. And love a Full Irish (slightly bigger fan of the Full English).

Wish I could do that every week!

The call and commentary in this are gold. EPL announcers are the best. And Salah. What a magician. He is The Egyptian King!

And there is a great piece at ESPN on why Liverpool really must sign Salah.

Such a disappointing draw after being up 2-0. SMH. Defense looked slow and we played so passively on offense at times. Constantly passing around the back. Had some other chances that just did not go down. That offside on Salah … tough. Just a bit of delay or earlier pass.

At least Man City lost, lol.

really missing Fabinho in the midfield and just some depth there, I'm quite surprised how tired the whole team looked (well most of them) after not playing much (if at all) mid week. Of course Naby is down again (hamstring I believe). I've liked what I've seen from Norton in these Carabao Cup matches but I guess he's just too young to put into the rotation in the EPL (or UCL). Ox has been okay but he's best coming off the bench with that energy.

Agree. They did look tired and Fabinho would have made a difference there. The whole midfield is ravaged with injuries. I think Konate got himself out of position a bit in that game as well.

Fabinho back vs AM and what a difference. Hendo is much more involved in the final 3rd. Now Firmino is going to be out for an extended period with another hammy. Origi and Minamino will need to step up.

Have to say this stretch of games for LFC has been very impressive. Perhaps their best in a couple of years (the WH game well behind them now), they look really balanced, seem to be getting healthy at the right time. Today's match vs the Saints was really total domination but it could have been very different had Alisson not saved those shots. he was counted on early and too often. Some sloppy giveaways contributed to that... although that was cleaned up as the game wore on. I think LFC's greatest weakness is depth (mostly on the front line now). Ox has really stepped in nicely the last couple of weeks, he might be in his best form as an LFC player. What a hit in the UCL by Thiago against Porto. Oh my goodness..

Damnit. Was travelling today and so had the game on dvr. Was going to watch it on Thursday but i got spoiled on twitter today. Im actually not as upset as if i had watched it. So many are now writing off the season to City. Well even if thats true and i dont think it is, there is still plenty to play for.

Well - Chelsea v Liverpool and Miami v Tennessee.

Two huge games for us fans of both Reds and Dolphins (though this game for Miami is the whole season right here).

Liverpool are reeling a bit, imo. Just not consistently putting together good games.

I think Liverpool are missing the delivery / passing / scoring talent in the midfield without Elliott and without Thiago - his inability to stay consistently healthy has really made his signing disappointing. I love him when he is on his game but he just has never stayed on the field for more than a few games.

I hate that those two have not been on there as it is putting pressure on the management to sign a big name talent.

Have to at least come out of here with a tie but, really, a Win is critical. A loss could really do in the season with the prospects of missing Salah and Mane for multiple weeks.

huge day for both. was really upsetting watching the City Arsehole game yesterday. I hate having to root for City to lose. At least for the Dolphins, now they can take care of their own business and make it thru. hah.

As for signing new players for LFC... I'm not holding my breath. In fact, I think the summer will be fairly quiet as well. I have a theory that probably doesn't make sense but maybe it does. With Klopp being here thru 2024, I just wonder how much that plays into the new signings. We're losing Edwards, who has been brilliant. It seems like we are having to rely on our own younger players more and more. When does the ownership think (or perhaps they already do) that signing new players is only a consideration for Klopp short term. As in, the Thiago move... he's older. He's not here long term, ie beyond Klopp. Are we getting into this phase of the team where you don't sign someone to play beyond Klopp (which can be for financial reasons as well as adaptability of that player). Perhaps we don't want someone here long term who doesn't fit another system like he does Klopps? I don't know, it's just in the back of my mind... probably crazy lol.

I hope they prove me wrong.

against a 10 man Arsenal team, just couldn't do anything offensively. I don't even think we finished with a shot on goal. Sure, missing Sadio and Mo was an impact, but it's more than that. There's no creativity from MF if you have Hendo, Millie and Fabs on the field at the same time. I thought we were playing away with that lineup actually and then shocked we were at home. Not only is the league slipping away, but I have serious doubts that we'll get any hardware. The UCL looks our best bet honestly. I'm not expecting us to score next week at Arsenal. So it could come down to pens.

These next 3 games likely define our domestic stuff anyway... not to mention the FA Cup (4th game out).

Really think we should be looking to add now in the transfer market. Especially after today's performance. What a miss by Taki...

    Totally agree.

We are really lacking firepower and passing in the midfield. Obviously if we had Elliot and Thiago healthy and playing together all season that might make a difference.

To me, that's the real weakness on the team. I like having Fabinho or Henderson on as a holding mid-fielder. But we have 4 forwards who can play and it would be great to have someone who can take the pressure off and force teams to not just pack it in on the front 3; as well as feed them.

We need someone like De Bruyne - a real attacking midfielder who can pass. Obviously, finding one who plays at the level of De Bruyne is unlikely as he's been a top 5 player in the world at periods the past few years. But someone of that type who can come close to that would really open up the offense and create more chances. Of course, De Bruyne can play attacking defense well also so that is another element.

Re the Transfer market, we have not done much this past year. We are 10th in spending among teams in the EPL and 20th in European in spending.

Interesting info here on the top 20 spending teams last year:

Great win vs Brentford! Gotta win those. Really have to win both games we have in hand with Chelsea and City. Even though the EPL is likely City’s. Would be nice to make a run.

Hopefully some team confidence can carry over to Arsenal. And if we can hold out a couple more games in the EPL we can get the African players back and be in solid shape the last stretch.

Nice post game interview with Klopp.

Yes a good win earlier today v Brentford. It didn't always look that way, but we broke through on a set piece to take the lead thankfully. Our second goal I was really happy about as it was Ox's pace that seemed to do the trick (and a nice pass to him from Robbo I think it was). He got behind the defense which is really something we haven't been able to do with any form of consistency the last couple of games. It's what's been lacking (that and creativity out of MF). So both Ox and Curtis Jones getting into the game today to start was key I think. And the 3rd goal was a real bad mistake from the visitors as they were trying to pass out of the back.

Anyway, I feel a little bit better now heading into the 2nd leg @ Arsenal. I'm not totally confident, but hopeful anyway. More than I was after the nill nill last week, which was so disappointing. I'd feel better if Origi were playing. Going forward, we really need to add another player with pace on the front line. And a creative player from the midfield would be nice. Curtis Jones though, if he can maintain form from here, could fit the bill really.

At least we still have LFC, aint that right guys? Looks like Luis Diaz is a player we're adding THIS window (which I was shocked when I heard the news yesterday). I've only seen the highlight videos on Youtube, so take it for what it's worth, he's decent around the goal, has great touch. I worry about his pace in the premier league and I worry about his legs... in that he seems to be a player that loses control of his legs in tight spaces. I don't know, that's just the impression I got. and I have no recollection of how he played vs us with Porto... we pretty much demolished them every time we played them. he also can't play in the CL this year (not from here on out). But, we needed the skill on the ball, and he seems to have that in spades.

Diaz and Carvalho are nice pick ups. Though not having Carvalho this spring is a disappointment as I really think we could use more attacking midfielders. But I understand Fulham‘s perspective as well as they are trying to get back to the Premier league.

Diaz looks like a great talent, but we are now crowded among the front three with Diaz, Mane, Jota, Firminho, and the Egyptian King.

Have to think they are going to try to sell Mane and one or two others upfront.

I don't think we are going to be able to re-sign Salah, that's what I'm prepared for. Anyway, Carvalho didn't go thru before the deadline, wouldn't have mattered anyway because Fulham wanted him for rest of the season. It is expected to happen in the summer. He really looks a great player though. Really reminds me of Coutinho at times with a little more speed and defensive persistence.

It would really suck not signing Salah. he is such a legend and so much better than anyone Liverpool has ever had as a striker. And better than anyone on the team. One of the greatest ever in the Premier league. And I hate that the Carvalho deal didn’t go through as it still leaves the door open for somebody else to sneak in.

Diaz seems to be a perfect replacement for Mane on the left.

frustrating that we did not add or have not added an attacking midfielder the past couple of seasons. That really is the weak spot on the team.

yep, creativity from MF has been an issue at times. Keita and Elliott have huge opportunities to grasp that in the coming months IFFF they can stay healthy from here on out. I do like how they've been using Fabinho and Firmino in some one two touch pass moves thru the midfield. So nice to have these Brazilians on the team!

Wow. What a day so far!

Diaz, Keita, Thiago, and Elliott all get to see action, and Diaz contributes to a goal, showing some of his electric skill and then Elliott with the fantastic goal!

Now coming up (this is before the African Cup of Nations Final) Mane vs Salah. Just hoping they play well and most importantly both emerge healthy. Esp. Salah from Liverpool's standpoint but really for both personally to come out ready to go.

If we get them back with the injured midfielders returning and especially the better attackers ... and Diaz being mixed in.

We have some talent to challenge Man City.

Biggest concern is defense, imo. Konate had a poor play that gave up that goal, imo. Still learning and needing more precision and sharpness. Van Dijk still such a great leader but I think he's just not quite as quick as he was before his injury. If we can hold strong we can challenge. Got to stay healthy and just keep winning and hope for 1 or 2 upsets.

Either way I think we are set for Europe next year and also, with our depth, we really should be able to challenge in the Champions League (in spite of a tough draw this upcoming round).

There's every chance to keep making a good game. And with a little luck, the game will be even better!
Van Dijk does seem a little slower than I know him. But that will pass, hopefully.
