The Chiefs were already getting pounded by the Titans and now Mahomes is off the field.

I think Andy will retire after this season. Lots of behind the scene ugliness with his family, and his health, its probably catching up on him. He has had a lot of off the field distractions and its starting to show

Chiefs are sloppy and Mahomes has not been good this season.

Apparently he lead the league in INTs (9) coming into this game.

And yet with 9 interceptions, Mahomes is elite.

Mahomes got away with far, far too many risky plays before this year. It was bound to eventually come back to bite him. The question is how he learns and rebounds. I've said for a while that he's this generation's Favre. The thing is, Favre was never really the same after Mike Holmgren left. Can Mahomes be the same after Reid? Time will tell.

Mahommes is sensational- but highly agile QB's have a history of early retirement due to injury. Those hits add up over time and eventually, the big hit comes that ends your career.

To this point, he's lived off of extreme physical gifts and being a part of the best offensive system in the league. That won't last forever. I think its fair to think that had he been drafted by a number of other teams, he'd have gone through these pains a lot earlier.

He isnt as agile this year already.. his mobility and speed has dropped off a bit.. ive seen him get caught more this year doing the wild things he always does on the field.. defensive coordinators are playibg him differently

I finally went back and watched the replay- Mahommes got LEVELED and I hope he's okay. Clearly a concussion at the very minimum..

On the play, he was wrapped up from behind while a huge D lineman charged at him. Mahommes ducked and the big guy tried to jump over him...didn't work...and Mahommes took a flying knee to the face. We're talking 'UFC knockout of the night' kind of knee strike. Absolutely devastating hit and his head snapped way back. He looked out of it being escorted off the field; I'm not sure he could even stand on his own.

Wishing him luck in the days to follow- but I have a feeling he won't be the starter next week.

I would imagine that our old friend Chad Henne can do enough to lead them vs the Giants next week.

I can't believe he's still playing! I genuinely enjoy rooting for former Miami QB's regardless of where they land.

Your shelf life gets extended when you rarely see the field. He was hurt in the 3rd game of the season with the Jaguars in 2014, missed the rest of that year, all of the next year, and was on the roster but never played the year after that with Jacksonville.

Then he threw a total of 5 passes in 2017-2019, before starting Week 16 after they'd locked up their division last year. Basically, he barely saw the field for almost seven whole years between notable action.

But I still own and wear his jersey! Its now my "Jason Sanders" look some weeks. :chuckle: The Fins were 2-0 in games I saw in person with him at QB.

Mahomes was bound to come back down to earth at some point. This is the year it's happening. Eventually it will get Lamar Jackson too. Heck even Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady have had down years by their standards. The thing is a down year by their standards is a good year by most standards. To me, Mahomes is like Favre or Donovan McNabb. Both of them set the league on fire their first 5-6 years in the league. Favre won I think 3 MVPs? Both were great quarterbacks, it's just that their teams didn't sustain the initial level of success that they had during their peak seasons. The same can actually be said for Marino. Mahomes will be back, that much you can count on. The guy is an amazing talent.

A lot of the relative down period in the middle of Marino's career was due to the talent around him, though. That 1988 team that went 6-10 might have been 2-14 or worse with an average QB. One of the worst defenses in the league, the very worst run game, and the offense was basically Marino throwing it up to Clayton all game long.

When Shula was able to build up a better team around him in the 90s, things turned around and he had some more really good seasons before Jimmy took over, and then he really started his gradual fade.
