Classic Miami football. Shoot yourselves in the foot, work your way back into the playoff conversation and just when you start sucking in the fanbase, have a massive letdown that shows why you’re not a playoff team.

With the draft capital we’ve had and the cap room, this is inexcusable. Grier needs to go. Flo gets one more year. It’s playoffs or goodbye

Let's be fair. We never should of been 1-7. We never should of went 7-1. The amount of good and bad luck that has to take place to get that specific result, 7 straight losses and 7 straight wins, is astronomical. We're the only ones to do it, after all. Fact is, Miami is no different than the majority of the NFL. We're a .500 football team. Get a little lucky, you win 9, 10, maybe 11 games. Get a little unlucky, you win 7, 6, maybe 5 games. There's only a few teams that are truly good. Only a few teams that are truly bad. And that's mostly organizational, IMO. We're not a good organization. Haven't been for a long time... Still, we're not the lions.

The fact that we even give a **** about week 17, after a 1-7 start is incredible... As for Grier and Flo, they've made mistakes. The offensive line in particular. Also, they rebuilt a defense in a year and have added promising young pieces in 2021. Given how deferential Grier is to Flores, in FA and the draft, I see them as one in the same. They stay together or go together. At this point, we might as well see this through to the end, for better or worse, and keep the band intact for one more year. How could it get worse? I'm pretty sure these two understand the problems on offense and have every incentive to fix them. They'll have picks and cap to do so. I guess it comes down to sunken cost fallacy for me. I'm a sucker for it, despite my cynicism. We're closer to success today than we were in 2018. Every coach since Wannstedt started out well enough and deteriorated/underachieved. While 9-8/8-9 is a drop off from 2020's 10-6, we're still further along than we should be, considering we asset stripped the team. I want to see what comes next. What's the worse that can happen? The dolphins fail? Been there done that. I'll do it again. No matter how frustrating. After all, I keep coming back...

The future of the Dolphins doesn't look as dim though. Flores can clearly build a good defense. We have massive cap room so either we use a large portion on Watson (if legal troubles are not an issue) and don't have to worry about QB again for the next decade, or we build a stronger team around Tua and see if he can improve in what should be his last tryout year. And if not, well at least we have fewer holes to fill though QB will be the tough one. At least it's not a full rebuild!

I say we continue but on the latter of what you propose. Build a great TEAM. If Tua pans out, awesome. If he doesn't the next quarterback actually gets a Shelby Cobra to drive and not a VW Beetle

The entire staff on offense is terrible. Not to mention half of our lineman are playing out of position because grier is an idiot. This roster has zero legit tackles. It effects everything the dolphins try to do. They didn’t run the ball even though the titans rushed 4 all game and dropped everyone into coverage. Why, because they know this line cant sustain drives running the ball. The problem that showed its ugly head yesterday was tua’s small hands in weather. Its clearly an issue, maybe it has to do with him using 3 fingers on the laces i dunno. Regardless the entire offense needs to be reconstructed from top to bottom. Im not convinced any qb would have looked good with this roster and coaching. Tua will end up the scapegoat though. Hes not elite at all tbh but hes not the main reason our offense is trash.

The reality is you cant start 1-7. This game was basically a scheduled loss. Why the nfl allows a team that played Thursday to play a team that played Monday this late in the season is ridiculous. They had time to prepare for us and it clearly showed.

I would rant about the refs but whats the point they jobbed us all year for whatever reason.

Obviously nobody is going to get fired but if Grier was fired whoever replaces him should make the call on Flores. Not really any reason Flores should be guaranteed more time than Grier when they have both done an equally mediocre job.

I have no problem saying that Tua looked awful, and these last few weeks feel like he has been fizzling out. Honestly, it feels eerily similar to last year.

That being said, I think there is no reason to do anything else but stay the course. A few weeks ago, he had the highest completion percentage in the league. So when I see him throw a ton of ugly balls, I have a hard time thinking that it was much more than a bad game.

I do wanna harken back to the fact that at one point (not sure if it still is true), he had the highest completion percentage in the league. If you told me after two years (one rocky first one coming off of an injury and with covid), he would be around the tops in the league in completion percentage, I would think that there certainly is a foundation to build upon. I really do not think it would smart to even entertain the idea.

I do just wanna address what should not be addressed briefly. By all accounts, this is not the year to draft a QB, so that is out. The Rodgers and Wilson situations are complicated and contain a lot of moving parts, so those are hard to speculate on. I would assume that they probably aren't headed our directions.

Finally, the elephant that is destined to be the topic of conversation for the next few months - Watson. I cannot tell you just how bad this could be. A ton of draft picks. Civil suits that could possibly turn into criminal suits. I was thinking about this on the way into work today. I am not even sure that this last season would even count as a suspension. Goodell might very well say, "You were never suspended. You got paid. Who a given team chooses to play, bench, or make inactive has nothing to do with me." Suppose Goodell proceeds to hand him an 8, 10, 12, or season long suspension. We are now dealing with a guy who good more or less be out of football for 1.5-2 years.

The more I think about it, the more I think that would probably be the most likely scenario. Can you ever recall where a de facto suspension retroactively became a suspension in any major sport? I think most people on this message board think of Goodell's eventual determination in the Watson case in terms of Watson and what he did.

Rodger Goodell has to think of this case not only within the context of Watson, but he also needs to think about the next guy who comes into his office for disciplinary reasons. He and his agent would argue publicly and privately that Goodell considered a guy suspended who could have played at any moment in the season. My guess is that most players facing suspension will have much less severe allegations facing them. Agents will love to publicly lobby for their clients by saying "I am outraged that my client is being suspended for X when Watson, a serial deviant was given time served for some of the most serious charges out there." Honestly, their point would be pretty valid.

All roads point to stay the course.

PS - Tua's arm strength is a concern too. That is another fair criticism.

Flores said today we didnt run because we were trying to get back into the game.
Was 2 score game until 7 mins in 4th lol. Really trying to get back into the game. We went with a marino game plan when it was clear 5 mins in tua was having trouble with the weather. Yes, tua played TERRIBLE but this coaching staff basically tossed him an anchor while he was drowning.
