Who do you want to see get an extension/new contract?

    Ogbah
    Duke Johnson
Howard again ( as long as it's not stupid money)

    To start...

We should bring Duke Johnson back, but I really think this team needs to go in another direction with the running back position. Draft a guy that's durable enough to handle 20 carries in a game if necessary. Keep Johnson as the primary back up and use Gaskin on third downs. Just my opinion.

If Duke Johnson is playing in a meaningful role for them next season they didn't do something right.

I would like to bring Johnson back on a small contract to be the team's 3rd RB next season. (behind a highly drafted rookie and another veteran free agent)

If Ogbah will sign another contract identical to his current one, I'd be happy to have him back. He's not worth a lot more.

Howard is signed through 2024. I don't want to head anything about his contract until then.

Howard has to be adjusted again. We'll hear about him this offseason. I don't recall the details.

He has a cap number of 16.4m next year. Why would he need to be adjusted?

The All-Pro cornerback and the club agreed on a reworked contract Sunday, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported. Howard, the NFL's interceptions leader in 2020, is staying in Miami, after all.

As part of Howard's new contract, the CB had $1 million in Pro Bowl incentives and $2.5 million in additional incentives added to his 2021 year, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. With all minicamp fines rescinded, Howard can make upwards of $16,285,294 in 2021, which would make him the league's highest-paid CB this upcoming season.

In addition, Howard gets $500,000 in per-game roster bonuses and $100,000 in workout bonuses moved to base salary and guaranteed money in 2022. His $12.975 million salary in 2022 is guaranteed for injury and will be fully guaranteed by the first day of league year, Rapoport added; $6.775 million of the CB's 2022 salary is fully guaranteed at signing.

Howard also received assurances from the club that it will renegotiate a new deal in late February or early March following the 2021 season in line with market based on the cornerback's health and 2021 performance, Rapoport reported."

They managed to patch together enough for this year, didn't want to lose him, didn't want to capitulate, so this is the unhappy medium and I assume they hoped they'd find clarity this season.

He's stayed healthy, he's performed again. They're going to need to pay him.

I'd rather trade him. You can't keep giving guys a bigger contract every single year.

I see no problem with adding incentives

Howard wasn't as good this season, so I'm not sure if that means a restructure is automatic. He certainly had a good year though.

If Smythe can be signed for a fraction of what Gesicki wants, I'd bring him back for 2022 and pair him with Hunter Long and see if the two of them can make it work. And then I'd use the money I saved on Gesicki to sign a top tier WR.

Gesicki doesn't block anyways, so he's basically a glorified slot WR. I'd rather put Waddle in the slot, and have Parker and a #1 WR on the outside.

I'm totally fine not re-signing Gesicki. They need guys that can get separation. He's not even a RedZone threat at his size.

As far as separation goes, we need to somehow find out why - season after season, different coaches, different players - the other teams stick to our guys like glue all game long and grab them during their routes more than almost any other team in the league.

There has to be some explanation for it, but its driven me nuts since Philbin was coach.

    He had two decent games?

I get it he came in here and looked like a competent running back, something they didn't have. There has to be better and more youthful options than a guy basically left for dead who will be 29 next year.

Care to elaborate on your cute little smilies?

He is going to want top tight end money for a guy who doesn't even play tight end. He's a 6'6" possession slot receiver with no YAC or big play ability and disappears in the red zone. Tell me where I'm wrong.

Did Hunter Long even play this year? It's a red flag that he was not ready to play at the NFL level and he has no experience to improve from this year. In other words, you can't depend on him to see the field in 2022, let alone play well.

I'm not sure what you're looking at. I see one subpar game.

I see an idiot coaching staff who didn't ride this horse, the same idiot coaching staff that didn't figure out we had a better RB on the practice squad than Gaskin/Ahmed for 2 months.

I see an idiot coaching staff who went away from Duke (completely) multiple times when he was having success in 4 out of the 5 games he played in.

Can you tell me that avg against Tennessee again please? I can tell you our entire game plan should have been based around Duke coming in. I can tell you our coaching staff except maybe whoever is dialing up these blitzing schemes ... should be firesale central.

What I do know is who ever is calling the offense really doesn't like to run the ball. That same Tennessee team who dunked on us w/o D. Henry, because they are a team that does not abandon the run. They wore our D out early and often. That staff in TENN can call a game.

Every excuse under the sun (including the OL) for Tua. Yet, a RB whom, at his position, clearly out-performed Tua, and was not only under-utilized, discovered nearly a whole 2 months too late. I'd bet the house had that not been the case, and it didn't take the Dolphins 2 months to call his number, we'd be playing next week.

This was the 32nd ranked rushing offense in the league... before Duke.

You said, and I quote "If Duke Johnson is playing in a meaningful role for them next season they didn't do something right."

I did not say we should not look to shore up the RB position in the offseason.

This board has become upside down world. What's good is bad, and what's mediocre is GREEEAT!

Upside down as in not riding Duke Johnson is the reason Miami isn't in the playoffs. A career 3rd down running back who hasn't played in nearly two years is who they should have designed their offense around.

Give me a break. He played good in spurts. I would welcome him back as a third running back or practice squad emergency back again.

Duke Johnson won't be commanding top dollar and has shown himself able to be a consistent performer on an inconsistent offense behind a horrible line. Pay him. Keep him. At worst you've got a quality depth player. We need to find talent wherever we can, if it's right under our noses then we had better get that right.

The TE utilisation in Miami confuses me. We play them far too little for my liking. A nice big target for short passes or easy downs should be what we need, bit we have three of them and we play them intermittently.

If Long isn't good enough to be reliable then that's not good enough. If we can't get a proper, good quality TE then pay Gesicki and play him. Make him work. Dont leave him on the bench.

Then again, this team doesn't seem to like the run game or offensive line play, so why would they like tight ends?

Id pay Ogbah, Howard, and Gesicki. Probably look to trade Byron who hasn't looked great. His money will help pay Howard. I'm with several other posters regarding duke j. And think he is a good backup option. Don't think we should hitch our trailer to him.

I just hope we stay away from Watson. Would rather keep our draft capital and spend cap on the o line. Tua could be good enough, but we won't know unless we get a team around him.
