Gut reaction is that this is Ross siding with Grier, doesn't understand Flores and has gone with Grier over Flo.
Flo didn't lose the locker-room but Ross and Grier might have managed it.

Flores deserved to go and finding out behind the scenes dirt makes that more clear but Grier staying is ridiculous. If Ross likes him and feels loyal to him then find him some nice cushy job but they need a new GM.

Deserved to go? What behind the scenes dirt are you talking about?

With even an average healthy starting QB this year, I don’t think we go on a 7 game losing streak and make the playoffs. That’s not on Flo.

Exactly the opposite of what needed to happen. Grier is the one who should have been fired, not Flores. Ross shows once again just how clueless he is.

You have tweets in this thread talking about his relationships with players including the QB and Grier. That is a problem no matter what you think of Tua or Grier.

The inability to build an offense is on him. The offensive coaching situation throughout his time here is on him. Flo out and Grier in is probably the worst outcome really but him being fired is still deserved.

I listened to Big E's interview on Dougie's podcast and he thought Flores should be fired because he is bad at creating relationships with the coaching staff and the hire ups. Plus his inability in putting together a functional offensive staff.

Sometimes you can’t fix stupid. Taking Tua over Herbert should be fireable not to mention building the worst OL in the NFL.

Maybe that’s true or maybe that’s a GM covering his tracks.

Flo didn’t draft Tua or Jackson or neglect to resign our 2 best OL. You don’t have a successful offense with the worst OL in the NFL and a QB who missed 5 games.

It’s pretty clear that the off-season plan didn’t set this team up for a chance to win early on. That’s on the GM.

This team could have easily packed their bags after 1-7 but they reel off 8 out of their last 9. To me that’s a sign of a coach who can get his team to play.

Dolphins debut new co-coaching model with one dude calling timeouts and one calling challenges. HC1 yells at players and HC2 offers support.

Sometimes the players ask HC1 for ice cream and he says no but HC2 sneaks it to them when HC1 isn't watching.

    We can't fail

Stephen Ross is an idiot if he's fired Flores but not Grier.

Grier is the root of all our problems FFS. Just ridiculous.

If Flores didn't trust Tua it makes sense that Flo kept pulling him last year and wanted to play Fitz, and that Fitz got replaced by Grier, which is why no-one told Gailey Fitz was out. Grier forced the issue to get Tua in when Flo didn't want to play him.

So how did Grier choose a QB that the HC didn't want?

If there's a problem with relationships with Grier/Flores/Tua how can you remove Flores and be fine with it? These guys ALL need to work together. Grier is part of that failure as well. Why he's safe is beyond me and proof Stephen Ross has no clue what he's doing.

Don’t understand how we get rid of Flo, but not Grier. Something must have happened pretty bad behind the scenes, a massive break down in relationship for just him to be sacked. Stunned when this came up on GMF out of the blue, but the tweet for me by Jeff Darlington makes some sense

First off, that Tweet doesn't say he's fired...it says he's not the head coach. Colossal mistake either way though! None of this was on Flores this season.

"But he was incredibly difficult to work with, and his relationships with Grier, his staff and his players went from fraught to at times non-existent. Flores hired four offensive coordinators and four offensive line coaches in three seasons, and if he were allowed to return for Year No. 4, he would have had a very difficult assembling a quality staff.

Flores rode his players hard over making weight and speaking to reporters, embarrassing them in front of teammates or even keeping them home from road trips over relatively trivial offenses.

And he didn’t have quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s back from nearly the first day Tua arrived on campus. He benched the first-round pick twice as a rookie and then tried for nearly six months to bring Deshaun Watson to Miami — even though Watson faced nearly two-dozen accusations of sexual misconduct.

Then in November, Flores started Jacoby Brissett over Tua against the Ravens under the pretense of health and player safety. Tua had cracked a bone in his throwing hand and Flores used that as a pretext to play Brissett. But Tua believed he was fine to play — in fact, he looked great when he had to replace Brissett in that game due to injury. What’s more, Tagovailoa was well enough to play golf just hours after that game ended."

"I made a decision today to part ways with Brian Flores," Ross said. "After evaluating where we are as an organization and what we need going forward to improve, I determined that key dynamics of our football organization weren't functioning at a level I want it to be and felt that this decision was in the best interest of the Miami Dolphins. I believe we have a talented young roster in place and have the opportunity to be much better in 2022.

"I want to thank Brian for his hard work and wish him nothing but the best in his future."

Reading between the lines here, Grier had Flores fired for not stepping in line. This infuriates me...all I can say is "Go Titans!" Two winning seasons in a row for the first time in decades, and you fire the coach that turned this team of rookies around? Unbelievable.

If you guys remember, Flores had a five year guarantee. So at least he'll be getting paid.

Didn't see that coming at all. Maybe if we hadn't gone on that massive win streak the 2nd half of the season, but especially not after yesterday. Sometimes I wish the owners would just sign the checks and sit in their luxury boxes.....

Honestly, you can just ban me for a few months because I have no desire to talk Dolphins football, LOL. We sweep the Pats, win 8 of 9 and then fire the coach!?! It's just unbelievable. You can't make this stuff up.

Side note- Flores is in the running for head coach of the year. Let that sink in for a few minutes.

They both have failed. Flores doesn't get a pass for line being this bad either though. I didn't even know he has hired 4 different line coaches. Its embarrassing.

But obviously it starts with Ross and he is clueless so we are screwed.

Couldn't care less about Flores, he was just another pea-brain Tomlin-lite. Only he didn't come into chicken salad, but neither did he really improve anything..

BUT , YOU REALLY CAN'T IMPROVE ANYTHING WHEN YOU CAN'T DRAFT , which I believe Chris Grier has had the reigns or at least a say since like 2016?!?

This is just another 'Cover Grier's ***' Firing. I swear he and the owner have a love-child together.

So much of last season makes sense with this but the huge question for me right now is:

How does Grier draft Tua if he knows Flores isn't on board?
    A - Flores lied/didn't speak up.
B - Grier didn't think it would matter.
C - Ross did it and Flores (and maybe Grier?) couldn't say anything.

If C, could Grier actually just be a wet-blanket 'yes man' and Ross is micromanaging?
