That’s what I was waiting to hear - multiple candidates declining to be interviewed tells you what the rest of the league thinks about a franchise.

I am not a Josh McDaniels fan, but this will be a hard no from the Dolphins for reasons that you are probably not thinking of.

The thing that infuriates me the most about Flo is that the Dolphins knew EXACTLY what they were getting into and then were upset when they got what they signed up for.

It is common knowledge that the Bellichick and his crew are incredibly intense, and it is a my way or the highway approach. Even the great Tom Brady said that it wasn't exactly fun there. We bring in Flo, and he was EXACTLY that, and it was working. It would be one thing if we hired a guy who we thought was a player's coach and he turned out to be a tyrant.

I really think that the Dolphins have decided that they do not want the Patriots' culture even if it involves winning.

Or, and hear me out here, he went 11-17 as a head coach.

    This times 1,000!

This is also why I believe the Dolphins are doomed while Grier and Ross are leading this. Our only hope is that we get extremely lucky in spite of their incompetence. At this point, they’ve both been here for 12-14 years and it’s no coincidence this has been one of the worst stretches in franchise history.

That's the NFL. Most owners are trash and most GMs are there because they are friends with someone.

Who has declined an interview? Or is this just speculation that some guys declined. I am curious as I have not heard of anyone declining an interview at this point.

In the previous cycle (Gase/Ireland), multiple candidates declined an interview. Others declined taking the head coach position once it was offered.

What's happening this round is speculation since Miami said they won't share any details of who they're interviewing, which is very strange. There's zero reason to keep that secret...unless, what happened last time is happening again.

That has been the Dolphins for the last 3 years. They have been secretive about a lot of things that doesn't make sense.

Possible. But I doubt it. The dysfunction is one thing, but the roster isn't trash top to bottom. Most teams that are searching for a coach aren't doing so from a position of strength, so unless a candidate is looking for a geographical preference or team with whom he has history, few are going to turn down an offer from Miami. Perhaps some have declined an interview, but it probably wasn't because they didn't imagine they could succeed. Coaches have big egos and limited chances to move ahead. This, in spite of how dysfunctional it is, is a great opportunity.

This. Pretty much every team looking for a coach is experiencing dysfunction. Some teams that have a coach have dysfunction (looking at you Kliffy).

The Dolphins are hardly unique in the NFL, and certainly not to the point where we are being shunned by candidates.

That's not to say every potential coach is jumping, because that just doesn't happen. People have their reasons, sometimes public but often not. But the idea that Miami is some nightmare of an organization is just silly reactionary nonsense from an aggrieved fanbase.

That should be fun. I can just see it now.

SR; CG: "Welcome to the interview Mike"

MMcD: "So. What you guys got for me? Hmm? What you got?.....What you up to? Just hanging round your offices, huh? (drums a little beat on desk with hands) So, what you got for me?....... No? You're just gonna drag it of of me, make me do all the work, huh?....." :chuckle:

Obviously this is all just speculation at this point Sceeto, but...

The Athletic's Bruce Feldman reports sources at Michigan "think" coach Jim Harbaugh would take the Raiders' head-coaching job if it is offered to him.
As Feldman notes, Harbaugh started his coaching career under owner Mark Davis' father, Al, as the Raiders' QBs coach back in 2002. He also has ties to the Vegas area after meeting his wife in the city. Harbaugh, 58, just wrapped up his seventh season at Michigan, winning a Big 10 title, overcoming Ohio State for the first time, and guiding the Wolverines to the College Football Playoff. He's done about as much as he can at his alma mater, outside of winning a national championship. Harbaugh has been out of the NFL since leaving the 49ers following the 2014 season. It's fair to wonder if the current game has passed him by, but he did inject a wealth of youth into his UM staff last offseason, getting Michigan over the hump in 2021. Davis could follow up his splashy Jon Gruden hire with another one as Gruden's successor.

I dont think thats going to happen… hes using the Raiders as leveragw to attempt to get that Lincoln Riley money from Michigan and Michigan will give it to Haubaugh.

Yeah, I don't think he will be too excited if he is forced to go with Tua. I think that will be a major obstacle in this coaching search.

Its laughable to think a team that tried to replace Tua for all of last year is now trying to force him on Harbaugh.

Miami didn't go after him because Ross cares more about Michigan.

I wouldn't mind Caldwell. Aside from himself, he would probably bring in some needed veteran presence to the coaching staff.

Depends on whether he saw Flores as the problem, or the combination of Flores, Ross and Grier.

I'd prefer Pederson, but agree that both would bring a much needed veteran coaching staff with them.

The guy i wanted to interview before we got flores was Greg Roman..

What i think this team needs is a true overhaul on what the coaching staff is suppose to look like.. each time we hire a head coach that coach brings in some position coach from this team to call plays.. another from that team…

Martindale, zimmer, nagy, fangio, culley, morrone, anthony lynn.. any one with a history of being a bright offensive or defensive mind are all welcomed on the dolphins to take the coordinators spot..

Lets build a super team on the coaching staff..

Same here, Pederson would actually excite me. My list would be Pederson/Caldwell/McDaniel/Harbaugh in that order, but I think none will want to come here...
