The schedule's set to release on Thursday, but there's already buzz that we're playing the Lions in the first game on Thanksgiving. It'll be interesting to see how many primetime games we get.

Considering miami's location, I bet they are towards the top of this list every year. Far east, extremely south team.

Well, we know who we're playing. We just don't know how bad we're going to be screwed in the process. I'll bet we play six games against teams coming off of byes this season.

I count only 5 games against elite QB's, that should be a plus

Lamar Jackson is not an elite QB.

He's a former MVP. He stepped back a bit last year, but I think a lot of people would still disagree with you.

Agreed. The schdule order doesn't matter much for some teams. If a team is in the North and in close proximity to their divisional rivals, its just details.

But for the Dolphins its huge. No other franchise faces not one but two divisional games that become almost impossible if they're played away late in the year like we do with Buffalo and New England. Its arguably the least favorable situation in all of US pro sports. And then add onto that potential other road games in cold weather, and today is make or break for Miami most years.

I might do that. That's a solid 40 minutes away on I-270. By the time I get out of church and make the drive, the game'll be all but over. Might make it for the primetime games, though. Thanks for the head's up.

Well, we got boned. Only two back-to-back at homes (one split by a bye week), three back-to-back road stretches, with one of them for three games. Eight home games for two seasons in a row when most teams get nine every other year. This is what results after we gave up a home game in 2021 to London. And this doesn't even take opponents' bye weeks into consideration.

The league did us no favors.

I think that we start 6-5.....and then the wheels completely fall off, and we end up with 7 or 8 wins. If we get lucky and one of those opponents in Weeks 13-17 is dealing with injuries and missing key players, then maybe we get to 9 wins.

You're way too pessimistic. I am not a rose-colored-glasses kind of guy, but barring really key injuries, I think this team can make 10 wins with that schedule.

Its a hard schedule. Assuming the Jets don't make a big leap forward, I count five games where we should clearly be the better team, five which look like a toss up, and seven where we're less talented. And then factor in travel and weather, and its just not very favorable, IMO.

Pure talent isn't everything. The Bengals used to have buttloads of talent but poor coaching and poor discipline and lost a lot of games they should have won. If our coaching is good and our players are disciplined, we'll win some games we should lose on paper.

I can’t really make any accurate predictions…the one wild card that no one can truly predict accurately is rookie head coach Mike McDaniel and the new offense that’s being put in place. Now, from what I’m seeing with the off-season moves, I like it but until we see the Phins on the field, it’s all speculation offensively however…

If the defense is still the SAME defense we’ve seen over the last 2 seasons, and the offense can at least produce at the same level as last season, I can actually see a 10, maybe even 11 game winning season.

But then again, with a rookie head coach, that could very well be a 10-11 game losing season as well

I mean damn we always get an incredibly tough 4 or 5 game stretch to start the season it seems.
We HAVE to beat New England week 1 at home or it could be another ugly start out the gates.

Edit - well maybe the ravens and Patties aren’t what they used to be. Overreaction by me.

Consider that the defense is going to have a lot of continuity. Hopefully, it'll be better than last year. If the offense is even marginally better, it'll make the defense better. And by "marginally better", I mean if we can sustain two drives more drives per game and consequently score 7 more points and have 31:30+ time of possession. That would keep the defense fresher and on the field with the lead instead of being behind.

The wheels can fall off, but I think we're trending toward having a much better team than we've had for years.

Miami Dolphins' 2022 schedule: Early tests will be measuring stick
    May 12, 2022
    Marcel Louis-JacquesESPN

MIAMI -- The Miami Dolphins' 2022 schedule was released along with the rest of the NFL slate Thursday.

The 2022 NFL season will kick off on Thursday, Sept. 8 with the Buffalo Bills vs. the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium. ESPN opens its schedule with Monday Night Football on Sept. 12 featuring the Denver Broncos at the Seattle Seahawks.

The NFL expanded to 17 regular-season games last season. The final regular-season games for the 2022 season will be played Jan. 8, 2023. The playoffs begin Jan. 14 and continue through Super Bowl LVII on Feb. 12 in Glendale, Arizona.

    Biggest takeaway
The nation will get a good look at the Dolphins. They get two prime-time games and a showdown on Christmas Day with the Green Bay Packers.

It's also a brutal stretch to start the season with the New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers all on the schedule in the first seven weeks.

    Revenge game
Week 3 against the Bills. The Dolphins were swept in embarrassing fashion by Buffalo last season, and this Sept. 25 matchup is their first shot at beating the reigning AFC East champion in what should be a measuring stick for coach Mike McDaniel's team.

    What the oddsmakers think
They have the Dolphins' win total at 8.5. On paper, there are seven games that Miami should win if it considers itself a playoff contender -- if it takes care of business in those games and pulls out a couple of swing games, Miami should clear 8.5.

    Bold prediction
The Dolphins will start the season 8-2. That stretch to start the season will be difficult, but it's also littered with winnable games. If McDaniel's system works and Miami clicks early, it can start the season on a scorching hot note.

I’ve been watching a lot of video on the Dolphins, players as well as McDaniel. Seriously guys, the HC is going to be the wild card here. McDaniel by all intensive purposes I an excellent coach, particularly when it comes to the run game but let’s be perfectly honest, he’s never CALLED a game. It’s going to be intentionally see what he does on the sidelines. With that said…

I am fairly confident we’re going to see a Miami offense that we’ve not seen since the days of the early 70’s. Back then (and I remember watching it), Miami’s offense was a heavy in the trenches smash mouth football team. They were physically dominant and wore teams into submission. I really think teams are going to be quite surprised by the Dolphins physicality…add the phenomenal speed we’re going to have and Miami has the potential to wear teams out and have them gassed by the 4th quarter.

Oh, and that’s not even mentioning the powerhouse defense we still have and the continuity that’s going to be carried over.

Keep the faith and just hope McDaniel proves not to be another Gase

I think that we're staring 0-4 in the face if we lose in Week 1. If they have any plans of a winning season, its a must win. Hard to need to say that about the opening game, but its the way that it is.

Now, the schedule lightens up from there, and they could be the better team each of the next seven games starting in Week 5......then it gets really hard again.

    Seriously?

What’s Miami’s record against the Patriots since the departure of Brady?

What did the Dolphins defense…the SAME defense we had last year do against the Ravens?

    Losing against the Jests???

The ONLY 2 possible losses I see in those first 5 games is the Bills and MAYBE the Bengals

Fingers crossed that we permanently broke the code on Lamar Jackson. That would be awesome. But the Ravens will almost certainly have a much, much stronger run game when we face them than they did last season, and our run game is a big worry spot IMO. Baltimore is also a house of horrors for us.

Yeah, I agree with @KeyFin about the Ravens, they could be a pain, we'll have to see. The Bills are out biggest divisional challenge and the team to beat. The Bengals, it's weird to think of them as a good team after so long, but Burrow appears to be the real deal, his combination with Chase is deadly, and now they've upgraded their OL that'll be an interesting one. The Patriots and the Jets though? If you want to be skeptical the Patriots are at best a coin toss, and the Jets... seriously?
