    It’s preseason.
    BUT
I’m having a good time watching the game. I hope this is the product when the season opens.

Ignoring whether or not it was offensive or defensive pass interference, did Long hold that long enough for it to be a catch?

Has Hunter Long made a play, any play, in regular or preseason?

I personally thought one step, tucked it with both hands (a football move), it's a drop. But then I though, he caught it in the end zone...can they really ping him for not taking two steps? So I honestly don't know.

It's SOOOO annoying we still have no idea what a "catch" is in the NFL. It should not be this difficult.

And that is probably the final nail in the Preston Williams Miami Dolphins coffin.

Well, he can argue that no one knows what a catch is in the NFL, right? :chuckle: :confused1:

Are you suggesting that he retires and becomes an official to clear up the confusion.

EzE is starting to win me over during this preseason. So far looking like a really solid draft pick.

How did the Legend of Hunter Long begin?

Well like all good legends it started on a message board on the internet during a pre-season game....

I know I shouldn't say this, but I have to, so I'll whisper it:

Tonight, the OL is looking better than I've seen in the past four or five years.

Thompson having one of those pre-seasons where even the stuff that doesn't go right, ends up going right for him.

EDIT: And so that's the pre-season finished with. The next time the Fins play it'll be in a game that matters.

The Fins fail to score 50 tonight and we on the forum have already cut Preston so that he can become an official and started the legend of Hunter Long. Not really sure there's much work left for McDaniel to do now cutting the squad down after all of our hard work tonight.

It's funny, for about the past 10 years now I've given season reviews and prefaced it with, "If everything clicks, this team could win..." And it's been a very long time since we actually saw this team reach their maximum potential. Tonight, this was a lot of fun to watch because literally everything is clicking on both sides of the ball. We may beat the Pats by 40 in week 1.

Of course, our starting offense was playing their 2nd string defense...but our offensive starters only played four darn snaps together. What really got me excited was seeing the fringe players carry the momentum and dominate, we easily could have scored 70 tonight. Folks, this roster is legit!

That throw to Hill was PERFECT. Tua placed it in a spot that only Hill could catch it against tight double coverage.

I went back and looked so I'd be more unbiased. It was 51 yard pass, released 8 steps deep, so 59 "air yards" total. Maybe Tua's arm has a little more, maybe not. An extra 3-5 yards downfield and it's a TD.

However, let's not talk about the pass...let's talk about the result. I knew Tua was going deep. The defense knew Tua was going deep. Yet the pocket held, Hill smoked the double team, and Tua got the ball there for a 51 yard play when EVERYONE knew it was coming. That's pretty spectacular.

Now, it wasn't Philly's starting corner and safety (at least, I don't think). Maybe they have starters a little faster, a little more responsive. I don't know. But this was the first play of the game and everyone knew it was coming...Tyreek shouldn't have been able to catch that ball. Tua shouldn't have had the pocket. Yet it all came together and looked pretty much unstoppable.

What has me most excited isn't Tua to Hill- it's Tua to everyone else when Hill has both safeties shifting to his side of the field. It's the creases that open in the run game because Hill demands so much darn respect. This is going to turn into a dream offense folks and I don't think we'll be talking about Tua or the offensive line anymore, because it's not going to matter much.

LMAO, someone needs to tell this idiot that we've swept the Pats multiple seasons with no offensive production. But now that we have the "speedsters", they're going to whoop us?

The Tua TD pass was his best pass and the one that makes you think his hip is fully healed and wasn't last year.

I’ve just watched the highlights, and if that is what we can expect, I’m even more excited about the upcoming season.

I know you shouldn’t read too much into pre-season games, but that was impressive.

Well yeah, 4 plays, 100% completions, TD pass. Of course Tua ranked the highest- his job was super easy because of the team around him. And that's not a knock on Alabama Tua at all...it's just saying 11 people are now doing their jobs and it's a beautiful thing.

Tua is now officially known as a spot thrower. And he maxes out at 55 air yards.

Williams is literally the only player who didn't put forth his best effort when he needed to. Even the backup OL played well. I have zero doubts the Turk will be stopping by his locker first.

Look at that throw. Hes not emptying the tank. He can go 60 easy. And how much beyond 60 yards do you really need exactly?

I'll admit, my heart sank when he muffed the punt...that felt like game over for him as a Dolphin. But then on the next kick, he had nowhere to really go but tried to outrun coverage and lost a yard or two. I completely understand why he did that, there was nothing to lose at that point, but it went on tape as another poor decision on top of everything else.

He still has an outside shot to make this team if McDaniel really loves him and just hasn't played him a lot (like he's done with Tyreek, etc). But this doesn't have that sort of feel and I think he's way down on the depth chart.
