Coming off of some of the biggest wins in the last 20 years in back-to-back weeks, I keep thinking to myself "just a little more." I have never seen a game like the Buffalo game where both sides were so physically exhausted by the end of the game. We saw our line rotate in and out, and Tua got banged up. We may be the hot team, but I bet our team is probably pretty exhausted now - especially the D with all the snaps they had. I want this win so bad. I know that the AFC is gonna be competitive and each game really will matter. In the back of my mind, I keep thinking that would be amazing to have head-to-head tiebreakers with Buffalo (although we probably need to win the next game vs. them to get it), Baltimore, NE, AND Cincy. These early games could really wind up mattering late. I also think that having a long week to honestly just rest and hopefully get players back from IR could really put us in a primo position as our schedule softens. This game is ANOTHER big game.
The offense has to step up and carry the team this week. A win to get to 4-0, coupled with the Bills losing to the Ravens? Then we can start dreaming about Buffalo dropping games to the Chiefs and Packers while Miami plays the softer part of their schedule. That would put the Dolphins far enough ahead that losing in Buffalo won't matter that much. Miami can still take the division and play a third game with the Bills in Miami. Way too much of the season left to play, but let's see if Miami is still on track for greatness a month from now.
My biggest concern is that Sunday's game was hard-fought and there was clearly a ton of emotion spent to get the win. On both sides of the ball and by the coaches. I know I'm greedy to want to go 4-0, but I am what I am. If we were playing this game on Sunday instead of four days after the Bills game, I'd think we would win handily. Now, I'm just hoping we can play sharp enough to come out on top, even if it's a close game.
I don't honestly consider it that big of a game. Not that I won't be very happy if we win, but looking at the schedule, this is a game that we can afford to lose.
Look, it's part of a four-game stretch that everyone thought we'd be lucky to come out of 2-2. A stretch where we beat TWO divisional opponents already. If we lose this game, it's not the end of the world, or of the season.
It's a big game psychologically. We win this one and it's clear we're an elite team and one of maybe 5 SB favorites. We lose this one and it still won't be clear whether we're "for real" or whether the first 3 games were a fluke. I also think the outcome will affect our performance down the road. There's a different mentality thinking a loss was "just one game", like Allen did in a post-game interview versus knowing you just beat 3 top AFC teams in a row and you're a SB favorite. Need to go 4-0.. then 5-0.. then 6-0.. you get the pattern.
Dude, we aren't going undefeated. Being able to handle a loss without going into a tailspin is something they're going to have to do.
You're not getting it. The outcome of a game like this is likely to have implications for future win%. You're acting like it doesn't. It's a big game psychologically. I wouldn't say that if this was an average team, but the Bengals went to the SB last year. Damn right the mindset will change if they win this one.
Well the game has just gotten slightly harder with our entire walkthrough from today being leaked on Social Media. NFL won't be happy about that.
I was hoping for 2-2 to start this season to have a real chance at the playoffs. If we win tonight I think we have a realistic chance at the division since the Bills have a tough schedule ahead and dealing with a ton of injuries. But I expect us to lose tonight coming off those emotional wins the last 2 weeks and then going on the road in a short week.I won't be upset if we lose because I never thought 3-1 was a possibility.
No it won't be the end of the world but bet your bottom dollar, our first loss...the daggers will be coming out! I just don't see our first loss coming tonight. I have a feeling our first loss is going to come at the hands of an obscure team.
Obviously hope we win this game but if we don’t, 3-1 is still better than I thought we’d be. Looking at the 8 games following Cincy, there’s a realistic chance we could go 7-1. If we’re 10-2 going into our final home stretch, we’ll be sitting good for the playoffs.
I'll be there. I am not feeling a win. Bengals with Burrows are dangerous and our defense has got to be worn out.
Not really. McDaniel made the guy and was running dummy plays with 12 personnel on offense. Nothing is usable.
They need to get over it asap. Because its the jets. I say this a lot, but pat riley once said part of being a professional in this league is taking care of the games you’re suppose to win. When it comes to the jets, whether its bridgewater or skylar, that should be a 10 point victory at minimum.
They're our only true rivals, IMO. I hate the Jests with a passion. I might sound like a homer, but we definitely looked raggedy on Thursday and I'd suggest it was because of the chaotic week. Those games are an abomination to logic and player safety. Even with Teddy under center, I think we should be the improved Jests with 10 days between games. We really need X to get healthy and hopefully, for Jones to return close to form. Beyond that, we need Waddle to catch the balls he normally catch, Sanders to pull his foot out of his ***, and to avoid dropping soft passes in the end zone.
Division rival games are never easy. I totally expect this to be a tough match, especially with out our starting quarterback. Our defensive coordinator has got to get better in my opinion he has been putting players positions to allow chunk yardage the Jets have won two games this year and I start to feel themselves a little bit now they know they’re playing against an injured dolphins team on offense and defense so I expect them to try to take advantage of it That said, I think this is going to be like a 20-17 kind of game
Win the games you’re supposed to…and a few that you aren’t. We’ve already won a few we shouldn’t have. The team does indeed need to step up for the Jets. We should be able to beat them. The defense should shut them down faster than raid on a speakeasy during prohibition. I just have reservations about Bridgewater. When he threw that interception on a mistimed route to Gisecki, I just hung my head in frustration. I hope Tua can be back in time for the Vikings game but at the absolute latest, the Lions game. Any longer than that, I just see a dismal end to the season.
We are only favored by 3 against the lowly Jets. Shows you how huge a hit in odds of winning we take when Bridgewater replaces Tua. I bet that's at least a 7 point difference if Tua was there. Jets are pretty weak. We absolutely need Tua for that Vikings game. They're a tough team. If we play Bridgewater in that game we're likely losing.
Yeah, but what do the odds makers know ? With the way the point spread was cut in half you'd think Tua was playing at a high level or something.
Divisional games are always tough. I don't know what it is but even a team on the downturn gets up for a divisional opponent it seems. I'm glad we got the Jets on the road early in the season and not one of those late season games. I also like the fact that we've had some extra days of rest. The team sure looked like they needed that. Maybe that will put enough back in the tank. The back ups in the secondary are going to need to step up. With a hobbled Wilson the pass rush needs to get home and often.
