This is worth getting hyped up about two weeks in advance.

This will be our first time having two Sunday night games during one season since 2004.

Might be more if we still have a playoff record by then.

Currently Miami is a 1.5 road favorite, for what it's worth.

On a related note, ESPN says that 80% of the money is on Miami in the 49ers game too.

A Justin Herbert with all of his weapons healthy too, because that was a thing this season.

This is going to be a hot ticket by game time. National buzz is already building and I suspect we'll be hearing a lot more on Monday morning. Especially if both teams win on Sunday.

Gotta tell ya, nothing would please me more than going into the Chargers house and knocking them off in a big way. Especially if that means Tua has a great game and we manage to pick Herbert a couple times. That might finally stop all this national Herbert/Tua stuff.

It's mostly stopped for now. But it'll return if Herbert plays well and they beat us, though. There are a lot of people who want that to happen, especially if Tua has a bad performance in prime time.

No names, no pack drill but I can think of two or three members on here who will be salivating at the thought of Herbert playing a blinder and beating Tua and the Dolphins.

To be fair, most of them have shown to have been honest when they said they hoped Tua proved them wrong. I think his performance is winning most skeptics over, which proves they weren't necessarily hating for the sake of hating. Contrary to common opinion, their reasons to doubt him - subjective as they seemed to be - were not all exercises in trolling. There might be some who would relish a great game by Herbert, but almost all of his "haters" have proven that they're Dolphins fans first and consequently are rooting for him to continue playing at a high level.

I engaged with several of them and thought they were trolling, but it turns out that most weren't. They just wanted a franchise QB and in their opinion, he wasn't one. For the record: He still needs to prove capable of playing this well.

I think it will be interesting to allow people to see both QB's in the same game. Both QB's are very good QB's from what I have seen, but very limited on what I have seen on Herbert, his arm strength does pop on tape though.

Herbert will make some of the prettiest throws I have seen.

Though I still think he is in the state of giveth and taketh away. He makes too many boneheaded decisions and throws in the 4th quarter. For every great comeback, there is a game he threw the game away.

Heck even in the Raiders game people tout him last season, he threw an interception in the 4th that could have ended the game if the defense didn't bail him out.

Tua and Herbert are both just 24 years old. There's a really solid chance that they're still their respective teams' QBs a decade from now, and this is just the start of a long series of matchups.

2004 is no slouch, with Roethlisberger, Eli and Rivers, not to mention Matt Schaub who threw for over 25,000 yards himself.

And people forget about 2012. Luck was the best of the bunch and retired early, but then you have Russell Wilson, Ryan Tannehill and Kirk Cousins all over 30,000 career yards now, and counting.

It's hard to remember that RGIII was believed to be the jewel of that class. Washington took him and Cousins in the same draft and promptly set about showing why I'd save my money if I was a running QB like Justin Fields, Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. One play can change everything quick, fast and in a hurry.

Griffin was horribly overrated even before the injury. He'd just heave the ball deep and hope for the best. Very much like eaely career Josh Allen but smaller and much more fragile.

In RG3’s defense, we’ll never know what he could have been if he wreck his knee in a game he had no business being in.

I will never forget the game he got seriously hurt. The Seahawks defense was one of the best I have ever seen and before he got hurt, there was nothing they could do to stop him.

Pre-injury RGIII had the makings of a great quarterback.

Maintain his current production. I'm a Tua guy but it remains to be seen if his current level of performance is sustainable or an outlier. The most exciting aspect of his playing so well is that he can actually improve. With that being said, questions about durability are fair to ask. So my fingers are crossed, but I want to see not just sustained high level production, but continuous improvement for the next couple of seasons.

    I'm optimistic about both.

Everyone has to keep in mind that EVERY quarterback has a BAD game. Let’s iut some perspective on how GREAT quarterbacks can have BAD games.

There is absolutely no doubt…no question whatsoever about Marino’s greatness…and even at the time in 1984, all praised how incredible he was but, what happened in Super Bowl XIX?

Marino was 29/50 for 318 yards with only 1 TD and 2 Ints. Marino OWNED the NFL, slicing through defenses like a hot knife through butter and yet, even he was vulnerable to a bad game.

Tua’s going to bounce back. Perhaps this loss is what he needs to get him re-focused. Often you see a dominating team lose a game and they come back with a vengeance for the remainder of the season

With 295 yards yesterday, Tua passed Chad Henne to move into 5th place all time in Miami history with 7326 yards.

Tua has 1 more TD pass than Justin Herbert this season on 193 fewer passing attempts.

Tua has 500 more yards passing than Kyler Murray, who has also started ten games, even though Murray has 72 more pass attempts.

The fact Tua is being compared to slightly above average QB's is concerning.

Tua has the best wide receiver duo in football to throw to. Also it took Henne 36 games and Tua 33 games. With the way the Nfl has been trending it should have been way sooner than that.

Not exactly sure what you two are trying to get at but if you’ll indulge me for a moment…

    2020
    10 games played
    1814 yards, 11TDs, 5 Int
OC Chan Gailey, which nearly everyone here condemned as an old fashioned, outdated OC

    2021
    13 games played
    2653 yards, 16TDs, 10Int
Co-OCs Godsey and Studeville, neither had ANY OC experience as no one wanted the job. A FAILED experiment with no viable offensive scheme.

    2022…and 5 games remaining
    2859 yards, 21TDs, 5Int
HC/OC Mike McDaniel with a proven pedigree of offensive ingenuity that has Tua leading nearly every QB stat in the league.

By the time this season is over, it’s more than likely half of Tagovailoa’s career yards and more than half of his career TDs will have occurred in THIS season.

If your comments about Tua is a negative, you might want to take a look at his past OCs and assign blame where it truly belongs.

As Mr Myagi would say, “No such thing as bad student, only bad teacher. Teacher say, student do”

Personally I would rather compare his numbers to the best, but if people are only comparing him to an average NFL QB, that is not good.

  38. Springveldt

Compare his stats this season then since he actually has an offensive scheme and weapons to throw to. It's not fair to compare when he had no offensive scheme and no weapons.

Look at how bad even great QB's have looked when they have no weapons.
