I really don’t get the lack of urgency this organization has to put together a proper oline. It’s been like this for years now Grier refuses to address it properly and keeps insisting on stop gaps or older injury prone players at critical positions.

4 head coaches and still were stuck with mid level talent to protect an injury prone? Franchise QB why the hell were not doing everything possible to protect and improve the line is beyond me. I give up it’s like they can’t see what everyone else in the world knows without a dominating line you can’t run or pass consistently and never in the playoffs.

Having his option declined should be the biggest motivation for him to improve. He's got the incentive to show that he can be a starter-caliber NFL tackle. If we don't see him take an absolute jump in his development, I'd suggest he's best suited as a journeyman backup.

I agree, he will make a roster somewhere and he will last in the league. He's just not putting all the pieces together to be consistent and I can't say why. On some plays, you see good form and good power moving people off the LOS. Exact opposite on other plays though and like I said, his footwork on passing downs is terrible.

My best guess was that he used to get away with playing "sloppy" and making up for it with upper/lower body strength. He probably coasted thru high school and college on strength/athleticism, but now that everyone is a beast the technique matters and he simply hasn't nailed it down after three seasons (or is it 4? Can't remember).

It's sad but it's also typical- I think cBrad showed a stat that close to 50% of 1st rounders are a bust. And he's not gone yet, maybe we turn down the 5th year option and sign him for the league minimum to keep him around.

Yeah, sports is where the Peter Principle really proves itself true. Athletes in lower levels dominate based on size or physical attributes and each successive level weeds out those who got over by being faster or taller or heavier. Technique becomes more important when 5,000 middle schoolers in a town are whittled down to 500 similarly sized and talented high schoolers. Then, those 500 high schoolers move on and 5 of them manage to compete in college against the best of what's left.

My favorite pros are always those guys who fall between the cracks because they didn't measure up as expected at the combine or on their pro days, yet still dominate when they're given a chance. It's why there's never been a draft that would play out the same when people do a redraft two years later. To borrow a cliche: You can measure the size of the dog in the fight, but you can't measure the size of the fight in the dog.

The most important thing scouts and personnel departments can do is to find guys who fit their coaching scheme and within their culture. I try to explain the importance of technique and attention to detail to my Mom and others that I might watch games with. Perhaps Jackson could have developed better under someone besides Flo. Noah, too. They both probably would be better right now had they not been blessed with first round selections.

In the end, too many people do not realize the purpose of practice. Practice eliminates the need to think and to process situations. It creates instinctual reactions due to constant repetition of being in a situation before it comes up in a game. Some players treat it like a boring activity that's expected. The ones who succeed are those who are taught a technique on Monday and use it in practice on Tuesday. Those are the guys coaches want. Ask questions, but listen to the answers. And for God's sake, don't ask the same question or take the same admonition twice.

    Sorry for the book...

OK went and watched. He does look impressive. I wonder how skilled he was coming out of college or if his bulk just made him look great. Would certainly be worth a look at for sure.

    John Wooden had it right:
The four laws of learning are explanation, demonstration, imitation and repetition. The goal is to create a correct habit that can be produced instinctively under great pressure. To make sure this goal was achieved, I create eight laws of learning — namely explanation, demonstration, imitation, repetition, repetition, repetition, repetition, and repetition.”

If I was acquainted with a UDFA, I'd tell him to ask questions constantly and to make sure he proved he understood the answers on the practice field. Give your position coach a positive reason to remember you. The other thing that I'd tell him is to literally find at least one quantifiable thing to improve on every day.

Collins is a ‘Big Name’ guy and has always got a lot of hype.
He also talks himself up a lot and talks a big game.

But I don’t think he is actually very good.
Better than anything we currently have at RT…. But still pretty meh.

He strikes me as a guy who's good with good players around him. He was better in Dallas than in Cincinnati. Seeing as RT is a specific area of need, how well would he play for us if (God forbid) Hunt was to miss snaps?

Maybe he’ll be inspired to play better after failing to live up to his “no one will touch Joe Burrow” boasts last year.

Well coach, since you don’t have a first round pick, then yes, I do think spending the money is necessary. Everyone on planet earth realizes the importance of the offensive line other than your GM.

    After the Lamar Jackson news:

The Dolphins are now tied for the 5th best odds to come out of the AFC with the Chargers at +1200.

The Dolphins have the 10th best odds to win the Super Bowl at +2100.

Tua is lumped into the second batch of MVP candidate odds with Jackson, Rodgers, Lawrence and Prescott at +1600.

Jaelan Phillips has an outside shot at DPOY with +5000 odds.

His reply was worrisome for me because our weakest position on OL is RT and we have a southpaw QB.

If they cut him, I wonder what it would take to sign him, given that he’s already expressed interest in Miami.

PS. With only 12 days until the draft, the rumor mill is just getting cranked up!

Yup. I haven't seen a lot of the typical misinformation from Dolphins FO. Probably because we're not picking until the middle of round 2 with only four selections, so we have to take the best of what's left instead of making plans. If I had to bet, I'd lay money that we trade down from pick #51.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see them trade down, either, but I don’t want to see them go too far back. I think there are several players who can help this team that will be available in the second round.

I agree. IMO, we have two young guys in Channing Tindall and Erik Ezukanma who are going to need time on the field to develop. With them and our 2nd and 3rd round picks in this season's draft, we have plenty of good young talent.

We signed Robbie (now Chosen) Anderson. That should get us another pick by making Wilson officially available.

Sources: Miami Dolphins agree to deal with Chosen Robbie Anderson
    10:51 PM ET
    ESPN

The Miami Dolphins have agreed to a contract with former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Chosen Robbie Anderson, sources told ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques.

Anderson was released by the Cardinals on March 8 after he was acquired last year in a midseason trade.

He joins a Dolphins receiving corps led by Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, who set an NFL record for receiving yards by a pair of teammates with 3,066 yards in 2022. However, Miami lost third-leading receiver Trent Sherfield to the Buffalo Bills via free agency.

Anderson is the second receiver Miami has added this offseason, alongside former New York Jets receiver Braxton Berrios. He will compete with River Cracraft, Cedrick Wilson and 2022 fourth-round pick Erik Ezukanma for a roster spot come training camp.

Anderson, 29, had seven catches for 76 yards in 10 games for the Cardinals last season. The Carolina Panthers traded Anderson to Arizona on Oct. 17, a day after he was kicked out of a game by interim coach Steve Wilks following sideline arguments with his position coach. He had 13 catches for 206 yards and a touchdown in six games for the Panthers before he was traded.

Anderson posted on Instagram last month that he legally changed his first name to Chosen. That change came after he had legally changed the spelling of his first name from Robby to Robbie last year.

He signed with the Panthers as a free agent in 2020 and posted the only 1,000-yard season of his career that season, finishing with 1,096. He had 161 catches for 1,821 yards and nine touchdowns in 39 games for Carolina.

Anderson began his career with the New York Jets, signing as an undrafted free agent out of Temple in 2016. In four seasons for the Jets, he had 207 catches for 3,059 yards and 20 touchdowns in 62 games.

ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques contributed to this report.

Once upon a time he was a really good WR, but not a good teammate. Hopefully he brings the former to south Florida instead of the latter.

He's burning bridges, so it would help him and us for him to be motivated to show out. I used him to survive a couple of rough weeks in fantasy a couple of years ago. I was surprised to see how much he's fallen since then.

Not a fan of this signing. Guy legally changed his name twice and his been traded and cut within a year, which makes me wonder about him. He may not make the team anyway but I don't see the upside regardless. The team needs someone, assuming Wilson is traded, that can step into a starters role if Hill or Waddle miss any time, and he ain't it.

If it works out, we'd have a wide receiver with both size and speed, which would help make a formidable 3 WR set.
