The majority of people do. Major networks. Majority of NFL fans. Vegas. If you believe the Dolphins are better, you are in the minority and likely a Dolphins fan.
Typical Jets fan. Embarrassing yourself thinking people are buying in to your self proclaimed hype. You've been exposed a long time ago . Normally that would be a logical reason to leave quietly but you're a Jets fan and they don't possess the mental capacity to act rationally. So, carry on if you must.
The same people who hailed the Rams as NFC favorites to return to the Super Bowl last season… The same people who predicted the Broncos with Russell Wilson were a viable threat to the Chiefs last season… The same people who…shall I go on? Sports writers are less accurate predicting an NFL team’s success during the off-season than Dionne Warwick’s Psychic Friends Network.
Take a look at the Vegas odds for 2022. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2022/preseason_odds.htm The Chiefs, Bills, Bengals, Vikings and 49ers all did significantly better than their “experts” predicted while the Buccaneers, Broncos and Cardinals did significantly worse than their “experts” predicted. Expect the same this season. They’ll be off quite a bit on teams they’re riding high on.
Your argument is predictions are sometimes wrong? Wow. What a bomb. Not much of a point. I'm not saying predictions and favorites are gospel. Just saying other teams ARE the favorites right now.
StaleTacos is not a Jets fan. Troll, yes. He's a Dolphins fan, it's made very clear in the playoff game thread against the Bills where he actually got genuinely giddy at some points in the game. He just likes to troll his own fan base for whatever reason.
And as I have stated repeatedly…we’re talking about the New York Jets. I think the odds are in our favor.
troll yes is all I need to know..not a place where your gonna get away with it. bring you're troll **** son, I goota lotta more where this came from.
I think they are being way over hyped. Saleh is nothing to write home about, I could see Rodgers trying to weasel behind his back to get his buddy Hackett the head coaching job if they they start slow. The defense beat a bunch of second and third string quarterbacks last year and they still didn't force turnovers. You have to think they start calling some penalties on Gardner this year. Q. Williams might hold out. The offensive line is not good. They have a questionable and injured running game. I just can't see Rodgers carrying a team anymore, especially in a new place in a way harder division and conference.
I don't buy that for a second. He goes through extremes for whatever reason ( my guess is he's a lonely, frustrated Jets fan ) but a Dolphins fan ? Not a chance..
Ok, I’ll bite for the humor of it… How oh how do you see the New York Jets being a better TEAM than the Miami Dolphins? Oh and for extra bonus points and a chance to win a trip to Tahiti, don’t mention Aaron Rodgers once.
You act as if it's a ridiculous take to see the Jets as the better team. However, the large majority of people and analysts do. You are in the minority here. Don't forget that.
So you CAN’T explain to me how the Jets are a better TEAM than the Dolphins. Someone else told you they were so therefore, it must be true.
It'd be pointless to try to explain to you. You opened up this conversation noting that you'd "bite for the humor of it." You hold the minority position, but act as if you don't. Fandom often gets in the way of being objective.
I hate the Jets, but I think many of the posters here are taking them lightly. They were a 7-10 team last year that was merely average QB play away from being a playoff team last year. They had the rookie of the year on both sides of the ball, get Breece Hall back, who looked fantastic and could have been Garrett Wilson’s biggest contender for his OROY title. Their defense is very good and now they have Aaron Rodgers 1 year removed from an mvp season with much improved skill players from what he had in GB. I could easily see them winning the division and competing for a Super Bowl
I think if Tua stays healthy, the division battle between Buffalo, NYJ and ourselves could be epic. 3 very good teams.
Well, we all have our opinions. I think that the Jets are on the outside looking in at a playoff spot. Maybe one of the last wildcard teams if everything broke right for them, but having to play four games vs the Bills and Fins is a tall ask. They also have to play the AFC West and NFC East, just like we do, and you could argue that they're better than only one or two of those eight teams. So with at least ten games vs teams that are better than they are on paper (IMO), and about four more where its about even, I just don't see the numbers there for them to even sneak in like we did a year ago. More likely something like 8-9 with a healthy Rodgers.
See, this is the difference between me and you. I can quantifiably illustrate why I feel the Dolphins are the better TEAM. We have the fastest wide receiving corps in the NFL Tyreek Hill was on pace to break Calvin Johnson’s single season receiving record until Tua was sidelined. Jaylen Waddle broke the single season receiving record We have both Xavier Howard AND Jalen Ramsey, arguably the best cornerback tandem in the league Not to mention the addition of Vic Fangio, whose defenses often rank in the top 5 of the league…just what you want to slow down quarterbacks like Allen, Herbert, Mahomes and give your offenses more “at bats” So now that I’ve illustrated why I think the Dolphins are the better TEAM, can you do the same, or just say I’m in the minority with nothing quantifiable?
I disagree, but I think it's reasonable to think the Dolphins are better. However, you've illustrated AFTER insulting someone who holds a different opinion. You can't claim to be open to dialogue, and then state you want to hear the other side "for the humor of it." That's not how conversation works. That's not someone I want to elaborate my point out to as it would fall on deaf ears.
Dude.. you're one of the most insulting posters on this site. Trying to act like you're actually interested in "open dialogue" can't be taken seriously given your posting history. And I say that agreeing with you that at least on paper the Jets are a good team.
Here’s the thing with him. At least I illustrated my point by giving facts and circumstances quantifying my point of view. Right or wrong, it doesn’t matter. The fact was I presented a fact based point of view. He can’t even do that. I’ve endeavored to never delve into name calling as it doesn’t elevate an argument, but when it comes to that poster, ID TEN T comes to mind.
Where have I insulted here in this thread? You are also a very insulting poster on this site. Pot meet kettle.
There's no point to do that with you if you want to know my side "for the humor of it." If you want to actually understand to understand, then I'm open to it. However, not until you retract your previous comment.
I’ve opened the door. You just standing there ranting and not quantifying your point of view so… Thanks for playing our game. Johnny, tell him what he’s won…
Give it a break. There's a reason a ton of posters think you're a troll. And you don't get to reset your insult history with each new topic. My insults to you were responses to the insults you started. I've repeatedly said you're currently the worst poster on this site, and that's true even if we see the Jets vs. Dolphins similarly.
The Jets would’ve made the playoffs last year with competent quarterback play. Their defense is legit.
Yeah, see my post earlier for an estimate: 10 wins with average QB play last year, which would have made them a WC team. https://thephins.com/threads/where-do-we-rank-in-the-afc-in-your-opinion.98296/#post-3552497 Regardless, I don't see why we need to worry about the Jets. The Jets are (on paper) likely to make the playoffs, but they're unlikely to win the SB (~7% likely by Vegas odds). Rodgers, as good as he has been, has only won 1 SB and that's not an accident IMO. He only has a 11-10 playoff record. So really.. who cares. The Dolphins need to figure out how to beat the Chiefs, Bills and Bengals. F*** the Jets!
