I'm guessing everyone else will be watching Monday Night Football between the two hard nosed teams. I expect both teams to blitz heavily and that doesn't sound good for either QB's. Flacco may have a forgettable night while banged up Roethlisberger takes hits behind the poor offensive line. Ryan is licking his chops for this one lol. The Ravens have the top running game in the NFL and I don't know how it will work this week. Steelers have the second best rush defense. Flacco will need to make some throws. However, wouldn't be surprised to see some tricky plays from the Ravens. The Ravens have the best defense statistically in the league (#1 in pass and rush D) and were the top 1st half defense last year. I'm positive they're up there again this year. Looking forward to the game.
Roethlisberger should be the real Iron Man because despite all those hits (sacked 8 times last week) and that bum shoulder, he's still out there. McGahee's still benched on my fantasy roster but I really wish they'd pick a RB and go with it (paging Shanahan too).
I hope Andre Frazier is ok. He is about to get carted off after getting hit on the return. Also, Jaworski brought up a great point IMO. He was talking about Harbaugh and was saying how Special Team's coaches work with the whole team while some OC's and DC's work with the players on that side of the ball. If Harbaugh is successful as a HC, I'm thinking that ST's coaches could get more looks. Of course there is more to a successful ST's coach. Harbaugh has a strong work ethic and he passes that down to his players and he coaches with fire. He doesn't take anything lightly and we saw that in a practice in training camp where a fight broke out and he chewed out players.
You'r a good man Alen. I HATE both teams, but hate to see that. BTW: What is UP with all these Throw-back jerseys? They should be called Throw UP Jersey's IMO!!!
Btw, one thing to watch with Rashard Mendenhall, whose replacing Parker in the backfield because of an injury. He fumbles a lot, I think he was the top fumbler in pre-season with three. I am not a fan of the throwbacks either. If anyone should be wearing throwbacks, its us with the white ones like we wore on Thanksgiving day.
I always thought the Jets jerseys were bad until I saw their throwbacks. These are almost as worse. I guess I'm slightly rooting for the Steelers since Bruce Davis, a former classmate of mine, got drafted by em.
Forget Bruce, I'm a fan of Lamarr Woodley. Btw, this pass defense better shape up. I think Jaworksi said Rolle is out and that's not good at all for them.
Haha. I actually liked Bruce a lot while he was at UCLA. Good defensive hold by the Ravens. Held them to a FG. Lets see what they're offense can do. I don't have much confidence in it right now. Flacco will have to make throws for them to win because I don't see that running game going anywhere. The Steelers are too good at getting to the 'backs. Btw, he's not that bad accuracy percentage wise. He's at 58% but has a QB rating of 55 and has 2 interceptions with no TD's.
One of the best defensive ends we ever had. Would've loved to see his intensity on this team. As fiery off the field as he is on the field. They're willing to force Flacco to make the plays rather than the RB's. Sounds reasonable.
Yeah, I think I remember this correctly but I believe he was the one who batted down Leinarts pass when UCLA beat USC, correct? He hasn't dressed up for the Steelers this season and I don't think he will tonight. From what I read, he's having trouble switching to OLB. They thought he could be a situational pass rusher but that hasn't worked out so far. Btw, how big of a beast is James Harrison lol?
Yea, he's the one. Also was the one with a few words to say to ESPN: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fX5H1oaVRnI]YouTube - Bruce Davis of UCLA calls out ESPN sock puppets[/ame] That's what I've been hearing too but he has played OLB in the past so that gets me puzzled (though I guess it was in a 4-3). Essentially a Joey Porter though. The whole Steelers LB crew is scary, not just Harrison.
Haha! That made me like him even more. Lamar Woodley impresses the hell out of me as does Harrison and Farrior.
My God, how many times is McGahee going to get injured? First the arm and now looks like the knee. If this is a serious injury to his knee, his career could be over. How many times can he take these hits to the knee? EDIT: Its a chest injury? Why in the heck was he limping? Also, McClain is one hell of a talent. 260 pounds and has quick feet to go with power. No wonder he has 36 carries at the RB spot for them.
I'm impressed with John Harbaugh. Looks like a real players coach and the players respond well. They seem to really like him, especially the leaders on that defense. That's pretty special for a first time head coach...a young one to boot.
You don't want a players coach you want a guy who's going to put the screws to the guys. A "Players Coach" bends to the players. Was from the Phil Simms book I read. Harbaugh looks like the latter and not the former.
Flacco is looking good tonight. Need Big Ben to throw a pick six to Ed Reed who has been non-existant so far.
Definitely^. Did you guys see that statistic of sacks on Roethlisberger? Sacked every 10.5 dropbacks.
He holds the ball way to long, needs to work on that badly. And that OL is getting absolutely mauled by the baltimore D, they miss Faneca very very badly. Pitt hasnt scored a TD in like 9 quarters now or something. After that shellacking they gave the Texans they have utterly fallen apart, something is wrong with them.
Yeah, that's true, he does hold the ball too long. They gave money to Max Starks but not Faneca. Great management guys. I wasn't aware of that statistic though, that's terrible. Not worse than Dilfer and the Ravens in their SB run though lol.
Wow on the replay that was impressive by Holmes, looks like he caught the thing in the crook of his elbow, then made 2 defenders miss badly, very nice play by him. What happened to Mendenhall btw, I wasnt paying close attention and just heard them say he was injured?
That was a good recovery by Woodly. Tried to grab and run, but couldnt so dropped on it. Realized he hadnt been touched, back up and runs it in. Very nice play all around. Now they need to hold on for the win.
Almost like "Who did it and ran" . Dude looked like he really did something wrong...and didnt get a flag. Wasnt the case here...and has never ever happened to a Steelers player.....just saying...that is EXACTLY what he looked like
