Been trying to get out to see that one but haven't had luck so far. Did see Brave New World on D+ though. It's not a top-tier level Marvel film and nowhere near Winter Soldier ... but it was good. Enjoyable. They explored some nice themes interspersed with some good action sets. I'm not sad I missed seeing it in theaters but I did enjoy it.

As for the thread itself, I just haven't been watching much lately lol. Between lack of films myself and general thread inactivity I haven't popped in much.

Broadly speaking, there haven't been many movies since Covid that have appealed to me. For my tastes, we're in a really low time.

TBH I kind of feel this way too. Marvel kind of hit a lul, Star Wars hasn't been doing anything, Disney stuff has just seemed meh and in general there hasn't been anything to drag me to theaters. Thunderbolts I'm trying, but it's tough with kiddos lol. Ballerina I would like to see as well, though I feel the Wick series/style isn't your thing. But Ana de Armas ....

Hopefully Marvel can resuscitate itself with the "prequels" leading up to Doom (notably F4).

Might take my oldest to the live action How to Train Your Dragon. Unlike the soulless Disney remakes this one returns the original director who has specifically said he wants to avoid some of those pitfalls.

The Tron movie I'd be more down for except for Jared Leto.

I largely agree with you. Marvel and Star Wars were my main deal in the 2010-2020 ear or so, and I was very happy. Along with various animated movies. Now, all of that is like a shadow of what it was, and I just hoping that more time will set things right.

I'm also looking forward to the CGI How to train your dragon movie, and it looks and feels like its doing it right and better than Disney, so fingers crossed. FF....I just don't know what to think. The characters of Sue and Johnny look so weird in the trailers...like they're on drugs or something. I haven't seen either actor in anything else, but I don't think that's just how they look. We'll see where it goes. And hopefully Marvel can use it as a link to get the ball rolling again and take firm steps into the next real generation of the MCU and finally away from the actors who've done such a wonderful job but they're really clinging to at this point, like RDJ, Jackman, and the rest of the XMen crew.

You haven't seen Mandalorian? Pedro is a genuinely good actor, and everywhere lol. Not sure how you have avoided him to this point. Actor for Thing is also really solid (seen him in The Bear TV show). I think the trailer intentionally is coming off very stylized and idyllic, and I think at least some of the early movie will be in that vein - showing off the family aspect and more lighthearted, until a major threat appears. I think the Universe is definitely trending heavily toward a new XMen, though in what facet who knows.

Well, Mando is TV, not the movies, so that's a different side of things. I do absolutely like it. And most of the other SW TV as well.
