Rookies report on Tuesday, Vets 5 days later, let’s put all news and notes in this thread.

After a critical offseason by many I feel good about the talent upgrades to the different units.

Let’s see if McDaniel can unite this team and change some camp methods to have the us against the world mentality.

    Thank God It's Football Season!
Almost. But this is the best time of the year for us Dolfans. We get to spend months pissing and moaning at each other about whats good and bad about something we have no control over and our opinions aren't heard let alone matter.

I too am optomistic about the adjustments to the roster made in the offseason. There's still a few finishing touches, need a side dish, some Garlic Bread and a garnish, but soups made and simmering nicely I think.

I'm excited. I'm actually happy with the less is more approach to the offseason and think every player lost took a little of good and bad out the door with him. The hope is that those who remain jibe well in their stead. Still worried about CB though, NGL.

Grier and Ross better be thinking about the optics

they have 6 more days to get it done as he should not miss a practice

Can we just ****ing stop with the bs drama on this team and do the right damn things

Need them to cave on signing Jonah as well. Sure every team is having the same problem with signing their second rounders but they don't have to worry about possibly starting Liam Eichenberg.

Exactly we all know Liam cannot cut it as the starter, we also know what serves the rookie best is to have the most practice time possible with the first team.

    that’s if we give a ****

There are a few draftees from the same round and who play the same position that think they should get more than is being offered.

My attitude is this: they haven't played one NFL game snap, so let them sign or let them wait for the next draft and see if they have gotten either better or wiser.

Its the Texans fault and any agent worth anything would be trying to take advantage.

Dam seems to be bursting and a bunch signed today

The Dolphins have agreed to terms with their second-round pick.

Miami has agreed to a fully guaranteed contract with guard Jonah Savaiinaea, according to a report from NFL Media.

Savaiinaea was the No. 37 overall pick of this year’s draft. His deal has implications for Browns running back Quinshon Judkins, who was selected at No. 36. Seahawks safety Nick Emmanwori, the No. 35 selection, also received a fully guaranteed deal.

However, Judkins did not report to the team with his fellow Browns rookies on Friday, as he instead focuses on his ongoing legal issues.

On deck needs to be Sieler even though we’ve not given an extension to anyone

Considering the rookie pre-determined slotting of contracts I can't blame players/agents wanting fully guaranteed deals. Next year it will be the turn of the 3rd and 4th rounders. Eventually tou'll see rookies getting fully guaranteed contracts

Seiler has already been signed for this season AND next season!

So now that that’s out of the way. Time for him to hold up his end of the bargain and actually show up and honor his contract.

Time to send a message to Drew Rosenhaus.
He no longer does whatever he wants whenever he wants to the Dolphins payrolls .

Every time we have caved on a ‘renegotiation’ for an aging vet it has burned us horribly.

The Dolphins drafted running back Jaylen Wright last year and got a strong start from the rookie, who averaged 5.3 yards per carry over his first six games. And then they got nothing from him for the rest of the season, as he averaged just 1.8 yards per carry over the remainder of 2024. So which version of Wright will show up in 2025?

Wright said on Up & Adams that he is very confident he has what it takes to make an impact in the Dolphins’ offense, for the full year this time.

“I know I can be a top back in this league,” Wright said. “I feel like just my skill set, my ability and the system I’m in, it sets me up to be great. It’s God’s plan, staying the course. It’s a long season, staying the course, doing what I got to do every time I touch that rock, every time the ball comes to me just make a play with the ball. I’m very excited. I’m very blessed to be in this position. It’s going to be a very great year this year.”

Wright is part of a running back room in Miami that also includes De’Von Achane, Alexander Mattison and rookie Ollie Gordon, and he’ll have to compete for carries. Wright has said he’s in better shape this year and the Dolphins hope they see Wright produce for 17 games this year like he produced for six games last year.

Won't that depend on the willingness of team ownerships to be willing to forgo the availability of those draft picks in order to maintain control of salaries?

It has been clear that over time, not all draft picks pan out - much less excel.

If, and when, ownership decides that controlling their ever-eroding control of contracts, then the players will probably face a take it or leave it situation without any recourse but to try re-entering the NFL the following year.

Considering that their competition will be younger, certainly just as good and possibly better, and aware that if they refuse their new contract offers that they also can expect to be out of work for a year, then the whole flimsy basis for those higher contracts will dissolve like dust in the wind.

    Just my "2-cents". - LOL

The first practice of Dolphins training camp ended on a down note. The team announced that offensive lineman Bayron Matos was transported to a local hospital in a helicopter after suffering an injury near the end of the session. The nature of the injury is not known, but the team said that Matos is in stable condition.

Matos was a basketball player at New Mexico and South Florida before making the move to football in 2022. Matos was born in the Domincan Republic and joined the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program and signed with the Dolphins last year. He spent the season on Miami’s practice squad.

Dolphins offensive lineman Bayron Matos was taken from the team’s practice to the hospital in a helicopter on Wednesday and will have more tests on Thursday.

Matos’s agent Perlesta Hollingsworth told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald that Matos suffered an “above the shoulder” injury, but was uncertain if the injury involved his neck, spine or something else. Hollingsworth also said that movement in Matos’s right leg comes and goes.

Matos was injured in a collision with a teammate during the first practice of Dolphins training camp. He was initially examined on the field before being airlifted to the hospital.

Matos spent last season on the Dolphins’ practice squad.

Patrick Paul is already turning heads in camp. I'm seeing that Jonah is the only one containing Sieler so far. This offensive line can turn out to be really serviceable.

Keep Tua and the front seven healthy and this team can do something.

I think the NIL has changed the landscape. Students can now stay in school and make the same amount. Without the guarantees they can just stay in school and not come out early. Which maybe in the long run isn't a bad thing.

Sounds like day three reports are saying all three qbs were sharp especially Ewers.

    great news

love that James Daniels has been getting first team reps with no
    Limitations

Jonah is in the starting lineup

Patrick Paul has been holding his own.

    Willie Gay is flashing hard

the line overall is getting great push on the LOS

Minkah stood up in the first team meeting and told his team he’s going to work overtime every day.

these are comments from the only eyes I trust besides my own

    Some other notes

Here’s what happened at Day 3 of Dolphins training camp: Who impressed, highlights, more News, notes, observations and highlights from Day 3 of Dolphins training camp on Friday: ▪ The quarterback play has been solid and mostly error-free through three days. Tua Tagovailoa, Zach Wilson and Quinn Ewers haven’t thrown any touchdowns, but they haven’t throw any interceptions, either. Tagovailoa was sharp; he opened practice with a 20-yard completion to Jaylen Waddle, with Kohou in coverage. He then completed a short sideline pass to Tyreek Hill, with nobody in coverage. Tagovailoa completed a 40-yard pass to Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, but Elijah Campbell slowed down in coverage, for an unknown reason. That was followed by short to intermediate completions to Achane and Pharoah Brown, the latter on a play in which Grayson Murphy flushed Tagovailoa from the pocket. ▪ Rookie safety Dante Trader Jr. was not spotted at practice. Offensive lineman Bayron Matos also remains away from the team following his hospitalization earlier this week. ▪ Cornerback Kader Kohou wore the orange jersey bestowed on the player who excelled in the previous day’s practice. ▪ Willie Gay Jr. broke up a pass by Zach Wilson; it would have gone for a pick-six if Gay had held onto the interception. Wilson misfired on a subsequent pass but then completed a 20-yarder to Tyreek Hill and then had a 10-yard completion to Dee Eskridge, who was defended by Eskridge. Wilson later completed a 15-yarder to Tarik Black, with Ethan Bonner in coverage

    ▪ Quinn Ewers had a 20-yard completion to receiver Theo Wease Jr. and a 12-yarder to AJ Henning. The rookie has played cleaned football through three days. Ewers then made a good throw to Eskridge for a sizable gain, with John Saunders in coverage. Then Ewers hit Tanner Connor for 15 yards. ▪ Jordyn Brooks stopped De’Von Achane for a loss on the first running play of practice. Then Tyrel Dodson stopped Jaylen Wright in the backfield on the next play. The running game finally got going on the next play -- a 10-yard run up the middle by Wright. Alexander Mattison then had a long physical run to the left side; Cam Smith lost containment on the play. Ollie Gordon II runs with physicality; he had a 12-yard run in 11 on 11 work. But at least four running plays went for loss or no gain. Later on, Zach Sieler stopped Achane in the backfield. Sieler got penetration on Austin Jackson on the next play. ▪ Linebacker Derrick McClendon had a sack, his second in two days. McClendon later jumped on a fumble by rookie running back Ollie Gordon II. Zeek Biggers also was involved in the play. ▪ The cast of Love Island, a reality TV series that streams on Peacock, attended practice at their request. The first practice open to fans is at 9:05 a.m. Saturday. Tickets are free but must be secured on the team web site. ▪ First-round pick Kenneth Grant had good penetration in the backfield on a running play; he has flashed early in camp. Grant flushed Tagovailoa out of the pocket, and Storm Duck broke up Tagovailoa’s pass to Achane. ▪ Cornerback Storm Duck, who has the opportunity to win a starting job, broke up a pass to Malik Washington. ▪ After a slew of false start penalties on Wednesday and Thursday, there were two more on Friday, with Ryan Hayes committing one of them.
