The list of teams still looking for new head coaches is growing shorter and two clubs still on it will be speaking to Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver over the next couple of days.

Dianna Russini of TheAthletic.com reports that Weaver is having an in-person interview with the Steelers on Friday. It is Weaver’s second interview with the AFC North team.

Per multiple reports, Weaver will then move on to an interview with the Bills on Saturday. It will be his first meeting with Buffalo.

The Steelers could stop that meeting from happening if they decide that Weaver is their choice for the job, although that would mean passing on the chance to meet with Rams assistants Nate Scheelhaase and Chris Shula a second time. Both coaches are barred from interviewing until after the Rams play in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.

I mean did he even do anything that would merit a head coaching upgrade? Or is this because he's black and they have to meet the Roonie Rule?

Defense had its moments despite being pretty untalented.

Is he really that much less deserving then the current head coach of the Dolphins?

I can see Weaver as the Steelers head coach. As far as traits and demeanor goes, he does embody the Steelers image of a strong leader that brings an identity of toughness and grit.

Will he get the job? Couldn’t say for certain but I’m cheering for him to get one of the dwindling head coaching positions. I’d LOVE to get those 3rd round comp picks, which I believe would give us 5 picks in the 3rd round.

Black, white, religious, atheist, IDGAF...All I want are those third round picks. He can go to Pittsburgh, or Buffalo, don't care. We need a break, and getting those picks would be huge.

Its unfortunately looking like most of these clubs were just using him as a Rooney Rule interview.

The Rooney Rule needs to go away. I understand the intent of the rule but it sure seems as if the letter or the rule and not the spirit of the rule is being adhered to.

Why would anyone be interested in Weaver as a legit head coach? Let's just exclude color, race, gender, pronouns, etc. what has he done to warrant a head coaching position? Don't get me wrong, Phoenix can have at it. We'll take the third round picks. I just don't see what he's done tho. It's not as if we had an elite defense here. In fact, his hiring for our DC position was suspect at best when we brought him in.

Well, it's important to remember that simply Xs & Os isn't the end all. A guy can be a masterful coordinator on game day and suck as a head coach, and one can be nothing special in that regard and be great.

Andy Reid was never a coordinator. Mike Tomlin barely was. John Harbaugh was a ST coach. But they're three of the best head coaches of the last 20 years.

If Weaver has "it" with his personality and brain, then he could be a good Hc.

Weaver supposedly didn't make the cut. But Raheem Morris, who is a terrible head coach, did. Cardinals gonna Cardinal. I don't know if I buy this given Weaver just had a second interview yesterday. And the RR was satisfied by interviewing Morris. /Shrug

Question- is Weaver still our DC? Or is he projected to be if he's not hired elsewhere? I wasn't sure if that's been mentioned in any of the media stuff yet. I've been out of the sports loop for a few weeks now.

He's still technically employed by the Fins, but it seems extremely likely that as soon as its clear that he's not getting a HC job, he and the team will officially part ways.

I would expect Weaver to depart Miami and take a position on Harbaugh’s staff in New York.
