On a level that touches people and has relevant usability, what are the greatest innovations of the last decade? For me there's three. 3. Directv's Sunday Ticket. 2. GPS Navigation in automobiles. 1. Flushable baby wipes. Its a no-brainer. Discuss.
My 3 (in no order): HDTV (first set went on sale in US in 1998) Wireless video game controllers (for consoles) HDMI
Here are my three (hope they're in the last decade!): 1. wireless networking 2. document camera 3. computerized/online gradebook programs
I didn't have it until I got an airport in my room two years ago. Newer bldgs. are wired for it. I still can't get over the mobility, hooking into the LCD, taking roll on the laptop at the door, etc. Incredible convenience and time saver.
for those that don't know this is white space link Basically in a nutshell they want to use traditional tv bandwidths for wireless internet. Only problem is it will take a lot of technology to do so. One thing being what is called the cognitive radio which is essentially a router that is somewhat self aware. If they, microsoft,hp,google and a few others, can get to where they get whitespace approved by the fda I believe, then wireless internet will become readily available and far cheaper then it is now.
yeah its real interesting and something I wish I was a part of. If they pull it off you are talking high speed internet in areas previously thought impossible......
yea, i know. he's disabled, motorcycle accident. not to be graphic, but we actually heard the crash, and went to it as EMS was arriving. Saw his severed leg on the ground (I know TMI). He's not online too much. Mostly during the day when we're at work. I didn't even notice it until i was off work in the summer. (We share a wall/townhouse.)
naw id try to give him a virus or something......... I tease my friend he lives in an apartment complex and is always stealing his neighbors internet, but he's not disabled he's just cheap....
The I Pod. No more silly walkmans or discmans that only fit 10-15 songs on a blank tape or cd. One thing I cant wait for is the Internet 2. Recently invented by CERN, the inventor of the original internet, its not going to be released in Europe for at least a little while longer but its still going to put white space and everything else readily available or soon to become available to shame in terms of speed. Prepare for Fios, and whatever else you use to look like aol dial up.
