Two of the greatest moments of that draft - when they took Whitner out of nowhere, and when they then traded up and took.... McCargo. Both guys seemed like major reaches, and to trade UP to reach for a guy when you've already made a massive reach earlier on, that's pure Buffalo gold. As it turned out, Whitner is a great player and certainly worth the pick, but we didn't have the hindsight, so why should've they?
The prob with Whitner is he left early and that hurt his development, now he is turning into a playmaker for the bills.
I agree. it seems their drafts the past few years have been worse than ours. The only players worth a damn before 2007 was Donte Witner and Lee Evans.
The great play of Kyle Williams was a really bad thing for McCargo. I believe he had trouble getting on the field due to Williams very good play. He and Marcus Stroud have quietly improved a run defense that ranked 25th or 29th a year ago I believe. They're not great this year (18th) but they've improved.
Well in fairness, the rest of their draft that year was solid. They took Youboty and Kyle Williams. Also, they drafted one of my favourite players, Paul Posluszny, year-before-last, which was a major steal in the second round. I hate them for that.
i like the way the bills draft. theyve been hitting on some good players. look how young their offense is. Lynch, Evans, Hardy, and Edwards are gonna be there for a long time. If they can have a successful defensive draft next year, then they will be front runners in the AFC on some preseason rankings.
I had all but forgotten they took Stroud, a good pickup for them. That defense is coming on fairly strong for them, and the offense is looking okay. They need to get way more consistency out of Evans though.
Yet, at the top of our division they sit. And unless something really tragic happens, they are gonna win it.
I still think they are the favorites but I would like to see how they do against better teams and they have yet to play a division game.
