The Office 2008 World Series Thread: Rays vs Phillies

I cant imagine a less interesting World Series tbh

Ill take the Rays in 6, just because this seems to be their year, and i think their pitching is deeper.

 

People care about the World Series this year?

I think its going to be great to watch. I woudlnt have watched a single game if it was Boston and Philly. Boston probably would have swept them. At least this way, I dont care who wins, and i'll just be watching and enjoying because its the world series, between two teams nobody thought would be there. I dont care for either team, but for the sake of a great story, i'd like to see tampa win. I say tampa in 6 as well.

 

I know. I always thought they should just cancel the season once the Yankees were eliminated. Whats the point of going on?

 

I'll root for the Phillies. A team that once had Mike Schmidt and Greg Luzinski needs another ring

good offense vs good pitching. should make for a real good world series if you actually like baseball and not just rooting for the cubs, yanks or sox.

who do you mean by "good offense" and "good pitching"? from what I understand phillies have a decent bullpen and a magnificent offense.

I don't watch baseball but I hear all these things because I'm close enough to Philly that everyone around me is going nuts because the phils haven't won a pennant since '93.

 

Phils in 6. The biggest thing that concerns me is Jamie Moyer, he hasn't pitched well in the post season at all....

 

Rays in 6. I dont think the Phillies have the starting pitching to match Shields, Kazmir and Garza. In my opinion Hamels is all they have. They have a great pen though and can hit. So it should be a good series.

 

Don't forget about Sonnanstine(sp). I feared that guy like crazy!

My Office World Series Prediction: Rays win Series 4-2

Phils take game 1. Tampa wins game 2 & 3. Phils win Game 4 (Hamels again)

Rays win Game 5 and close it out in Game 6 with Shields on the hill.

 

Rays in 6. I can't stand Philly.

This will be a good series. It's refreshing to see another worst to first, it's been a while now since the Braves did it. It's also refreshing to have a series without the Yankees or the Red Sox. I know this is going to sound crazy, but some of us don't think Boston or New York have to be involved in a sporting event to make it interesting.

You have to be joking ? This is a GREAT series matchup. Both pitching staffs are HOT right now and will be interesting to see how the Rays players will play in the little bandbox in Philly.

Rays in 6. I haven't been looking forward to a WS this much since 2005 when the White Sox/St. Louis matchup occured. (of course I had to miss two games of the matchup because of Hurricane Wilma )

 

I think the Rays may handle Hamels the 2nd time they see him. These kids are very very very good ! They seem to adjust very well to pitchers and if I am not mistaken they won a lot of games this year the 2nd time they faced pitchers....I saw this stat during their series with the White Sox, they flashed it on the screen during one of the games. I believe it was 34-14 in favor of the Rays.
