Was wondering if anyone saw this, but Trent Green, at very least for that final drive in of the 1st half, Cameron was not wearing a headset or holding that laminated card, it was Green and he appeared to be calling in plays, and during times during the rest of the game he appeared to be at times doing the same while bother of them wore the headset.

This has been rumored before and kind of discussed, but I'm personally a little intrigued by this. I know that Green susposedly worked with the Chiefs offensive staff while he was injured in a gameplanning capacity. He's also been wearing a headset on the sidelines here in a Dolphins coaching uniform rather than the usual T-shirt and shorts injured players are on the sideline with.

We know the Dolphins wanted to find an offensive coordinator, but Cameron didnt seem to want an established guy who would demand playcalling responsibility right away, but someone who would learn under him. He wanted to retain Jason Garrett, and then to sign Clarence Sheldon(?) and the Broncos RB coaches, but they all wanted playcalling responsibilities.

I think that one of the huge things about Green's potential is an offensive coordinator is the massive amount of exposure he has had to Air Coryell based offenses. He's memorized the playbook, and had the machinations of Norv Turner, Mike Martz, and Al Saunders laid bare to him.

Well well well, this is interesting. And might explain some of the conservative play-calling recently.

As long as Green is on board for the long haul I like the move, no point in it though if this is a one year thing.

I'm not sure how I feel about Trent Green as the OC. If he's capable of it, sure, but why not promote Terry Shea and have Trent Green become the QB coach?

Trent a Cam have a very close relationship and I'm sure Trent would be a very mold-able guy for Cam. I think he wants a young guy that he can teach to do things his way, Trent would be that so it makes sense. And if Green wants to make a second career out of coaching and we think he's got what it takes then why not start it now?

I mean if you are going to have the growing pains of a new OC why not do it now when the season is all but over instead of waiting until next year when (hopefully) we will be better?

I just really, really hope Green makes a good coach if that is indeed what he is being asked to do. There are some former players who are good at it and there are others who just don't work as coaches. I think Green might work because he has always been about the mental side of the game and has a very good understanding of this offense..... Often the players that don't make good coaches are the guys with great physical skills who never had to pay as much attention to the minuet details, and if you are going to be a good coach its ALL about the details. I guess time will tell.

Like I said, I dunno. I dont know to what extent this has been going on. Hell, I could be drawing the complete wrong conclusions here on what was going on.

I think if it's the case, it's not so much about helping Cameron out as it is with grooming someone. He said he would give playcalling responsibilities to someone when he felt like they were better than him at it. Terry Shea sucked really bad when he got the chance, and I think he gave Mike Mularkey an opportunity to prove himself during the final preseason game when Capers was the HC and Mularkey the OC.

Playcalling is not as much science and experience as it is an art, IMO. Some guys have it, and some dont, and it's hard to tell without giving them a headset and giving it a go.

I would not take anyone from being a player and make them a OC/DC/HC. You have to start them off in that side of it. And it is not fair to other more experienced coaches.

Might as well give Trent a shot at it... Cam seems to be over his head.

Iunno, Jason Garrett went from backup to QB coach and did that for two years in two different offenses, and went on immediately to be a successful OC from a totally different system than either under Linehan and Mularkey.

I dont know if fairness really enters into it, either. This is a meritocracy.

Insightful......ha. And your post about Garrett anything new. He has the most well rounded offense in the league to call plays with. Even Pornstache couldn't screw that up.

Cam has lost control of this team and shows nothing to get us out of this. He looks lost on the sidelines. No fire, nothing. Passive personalities will not fix us. At least Pornstache showed some fire. I'd take him over Cam, RIGHT NOW!!!

Does Terry Shea want the job?

Doesn't Terry Shea work as a private pre-draft QB guru?

You grossly underestimate Wannstedt's capacity to foul up an offense. He could, and did foul up royally two entire franchises in this league.

    I didn't notice this....

If Trent was calling the plays, I think it had more to do with a Green/Beck relationship than any tuteledge between Cam/Green.

Either way I don't care what's going on. I want some progress in the next four games. And I still think it's a dumb idea to can Cam after one year.

I'm not sure if he will indeed become the OC but I've said it could be one of the reasons he was brought in since way before the season began.

I'm not sure if it will matter though. Cam is going to be on the hot seat if you ask me. Not because I want him fired but the pressure is going to be on WH to make a decision. Lose 10,000 more season ticket holders, or hire someone with a nice name to gain 5,000 ....
