So here it is. Laying on the ground in front us, beaten, tared-and-feathered, himulated, ashamed...broken. The project that was to be the 2007 and beyond Dolphins, the plan, the concepts, the "Air Coryel" offense, maybe John Beck's development, the prospects Mueller was looking into, the scouts and coaches who worked day to day with these players. The thing, pulled apart, for the 3rd time in four years. I understand Cameron struggled, he had a lot of questionable playcalls. But the offense did show improvement with its starters early on. And then the story goes, Mueller trading Chris Chambers, the injuries, the defense, the fighting, the lack of unity, lack of leadership, lack of hunger, ect, ect. All in all though, I still think he should have gotten one more season, just to see if he could improve on from this year. But, what's done is done and there's nothing much else to say.
So your upset that 2007 was a waste but you favored Cameron getting to waste 2008 as well? This organization has wasted MANY years lately. The entire Wanny tenure were wasted years. The point of this change is to stop wasting years with bad leadership.
If Beck , Booker, and Ginn pan out as contributors to this team in the long run it shant be for naught!!
Exactly. Moreover, we seem to finally be laying a foundation for a solid offensive line and a couple of young defenders seem to be making big strides (Jason Allen, Rodrique Wright, Michael Lehan)
You said it man. I can't believe the people who think Cameron should have been given the opportunity to waste any more of this team's time. He underachieved with a team with little talent and he would have underachieved if and when he'd been given a team with more talent.
You guys dont know that for sure. I remember after the Baltimore game many of you thought he shouldve been given one more season.
I certainly didn't. I certainly wasn't impressed with the display we put on in that game. We were gifted a win on a number of levels that game. I"m certainly thankful for it but I saw nothing in that game that led me to believe we had solved ANY problems.
Really? It was an emotional win, but winning your first game in December(and only win of the year) doesn't get you off the hook.
Many of who? Not any of me said that. It was a miracle we won that game---a true miracle, considering it took a shanked field goal and a badly blown coverage in overtime. We came inches from a winless season.
I don't think it was a waste. We saw some improvement in our O-line, and Samson Satele should be around for years. We clearly have big needs in many areas, especially at D-back, but most our guys got hurt. I think the Tuna and Ireland will be able to watch the films and know which guys are dogging it and only collecting a paycheck, and which guys have potential. Hopefully we finally have the coaches, and management to turn things around.
Maybe he should have been given one more year, but that really isn't our call. Cam got bagged on for drafting Ginn, yet Ginn is our first Rook Wr to make the Pro Bowl, Satele started all 16 games and will make the All Rookie team no doubt. When we start winning again, Cam's fingerprints will be all over the squad's stats on the leader side of the ledger, for that we will owe Cam some applause. Coaches take the arrows, sad but true.
I could have sworn Cameron was the coach and Mueller was the GM. It's Mueller's fingerprints that will be all over this team and the one who deserves some applause. You'll owe Cameron some applause for having left while you watch Ronnie Brown not splitting carries with someone that is clearly below his level next year.
So when it turns out, it was Mueller, when it doesn't it was Cameron? They were working together on that draft, I don't think that should be taken away from Cam Cameron, things didn't work out, but let's not revise history completely.
What are you talking about? Revise history? Please, you're now trying to credit our fired coach with a draft run clearly by a GM. Mueller was given control over personnel this year. By definition the draft is in fact his. Did Cameron have some input? Of course, but bottom line those choices were Mueller's to make. Besides, we fired Cameron the coach. If you wanted him to be GM that's a whole different ball game.
2007 was not a waste at all ! Mueller did a great job with the salary cap mess left over by Saban. This past draft was one of the best in the last five years and we got Ginn, Beck, Satele, Booker and hopefully Mormnio will come next year. As for Cameron, I felt he wasn't coming back next year especially after Parcells got hired.
Agreed completely. IMO if we end up missing anyone that was fired it will be Mueller and not Cameron. We'll see. I hope Ireland is as advertised.
Is time to move on....Cam had lost the team plus his game decisions were not very good....but not everything is a waste imo....I think that Ginn, Beck, Satele, Booker and Mauia will be contributers to our team and the jury's still out on Mormino and Abe Wright who could get a spot on the team too. Ozzy rules!!
