I honestly believe that Cam is safe this year, regardless of our record. That said, I think that if we are still winless by mid-season of '08, Cam is a goner.

I personally think Cam is over his head. He makes a better OC then a head coach.

If he is not worried about his job, then why is Wayne doing his investigations into the organization, and there failures then?

I think you may be right Fin Fan, as much as I like Cam, the on thing that we have lacked this season is a sense that we were prepared to play on each squad, and for every game this year.

When our "O" plays well, our "D" stinks, when our "D" plays well our Special Teams are terrible.

We seem unable to put all 3 phases of the game together on any given Sunday and fair or not, that does fall on the HC.

And to make things worse for Cam, Cowher will be available, Marty S will be available, and maybe John Fox as well.

I do think Randy Mueller has done a Top Notch job for us, as has Houck.

He's 0 - 10....he BETTER start worrying about it. Get a damn win.

If as I expect...we get one win...I don't see any reason why he shouldn't be given one more year. No wins...thats historic. I cant imagine Wayne not at least considering making a move to Cowher if we go 0-16. Not saying he will do it...but it will be strongly considered. I think Wayne will seek out advice from Shula...and Marino amongst others.

What Wayne says and what he does is two different things. This team needed to be gutted and rebuilt for years, now someone's finally doing it. It's hard to blame Cam for years of poor drafting in the past. I wouldn't be worried about Cameron losing his job this year, maybe next year if we don't see much improvement, but definitely not this year. If Wayne fires Cameron after this season, it'll be a mistake. All that will happen is bring a new coach wanting to bring in "his players" and not Cameron's players as well as new coaches and systems. Personally I think Wayne needs to keep quiet for once and learn to be patient.

I agree with Grid Iron. The team needs to be rebuilt. The offense looks better then it has in years and thats Cam's doing. The age of the defense is beginning to catch up and that's why were struggling. Getting a new DC may not be a bad move, along with getting younger.
And for those who keep talking about Cower, what makes any of you so sure thats he's going to return to coaching? I don't think he will be returning any time soon. Maybe a few years, but not next year.

You said it. He's either making happy-talk to try to sooth his coaching staff's anxiety or he's a moron.

I don't want this idiot coaching our team next year, I don't want him coaching our team this Monday Night. He can go to hell. Go back to San Diego.

Where the hell is Bill Cowher at?

I think there is a good chance Cam is out after the season is over. I just can't imagine keeping him considering some of the PROVEN coaches who are available.
Who would have thought it was possible for us to have taken as big a step backward as we did considering the defense was coming off such a successful season and given Cam's success with offenses. I think he is in over his head. And I think the patience Wayne has shown in the past with coaches has gone out the window.

I have to be honest. I would like to see us bring in Marty Schottenheimer. I can't see Cowher coming here. I think he is on his way to Carolina.

I always thought Wayne was patient to a fault. That is definitely not something we can say he NEEDS to be. And he's always kept pretty quiet.

Wayne wants to know why we are in the mess we are in, and he will find out. It’s simple and obvious IMO. It’s not because of Cam Cameron. How many times does someone have to post information about how poorly the Phins have drafted in the past? It doesn’t matter how good a chief you are, you can’t make good spaghetti with ketchup and roman noodles. I will be beyond disappointed (what is beyond disappointed anyway? Maybe dejected? disillusioned?) if he is fired. Bringing in Cowher won’t magically change all of Wann/spills draft choices.

Because, to be honest, signing Cowher is the sort of thing that Wayne would do.

A new coach isn't going to change this team. A new coach will want to change our team's identity because we don't have one right now. We're on our way but if we bring in a new coach, it'll be another rebuilding year next year. Patience is a virtue, obviously half of you don't understand this. We brought in a new coach who you could easily see was rebuilding the team, this was expected.

I think that Cam deserves to be here next year. He's done a good job getting our offense going, give him a chance to draft for the D. Let's see how the draft goes, and how the first half of next season goes...

    Chill, folks...

The roots of this dismal season began in 1996 - with Jimma, continued and was fertilized royally by Wanny, and didn't really improve much under Saban. Eight years of abysmal draft choices, even more deplorable free agency signings, and timid coaching will ruin any team. If you think that any coach was going to come in this year and change the impetus of that attrocious past, you are expecting a Messiah, and not a coach. It will take at least three seasons, of which this is just the first, to get anything going which will be acceptable to a Dolphin Fan used to playoffs and at least competitive, if not superlative play. This calls for patience, and not calling for the head of the latest person hired to lead this rolling circus the Dolphins have become.

Ok. I'll rephrase the question. How will Wayne sign someone who most likely will not be coaching anytime soon?

Getting rid of Cam, IMO, would be a huge mistake. Face it, this team LACKED talent in its younger players. We just now started getting guys when Saban came . . . . 3 years of drafts and we already have half of our starters.

    Next year,

Beck, Brown, Mauia, Ginn, Hagan, Satele, Hadnot, Carey
Roth, Wright, Roth, Crowder, Pope, J. Allen, Bell

That is 15 of our 22 potential starters next season, and they all were drafted in 2004 or later (drafted by us!!). That is pretty impressive . . . and this is not including next years draft, where we may snag a few more starters, I like Cam in every aspect for deciding to do this. Also I respect him bringing in guys like Joey Porter and Trent Green, and keeping guys like Zach, Vonnie, JT and Traylor around. The leadership between those 6 is just amazing and something ideally we want our young players to believe in, this season definitely will build alot of character for this team.

Lets not get silly tho, Cam has made some head scratching decisions, and anybody who goes 0-10 and potentially 0-16 MUST be concerned for his job, and the owner needs to evaluate it as well.

This team needs consistency, and the only way to keep it, is by keeping the staff in tact, outside of special teams, where we may definitely need to make a change. I think Cam's job depends more on Beck, if Beck completely stinks it up for the next 6 games and we lose all of them, then I think we may ditch Cam (but only for a big name coach, not a OC or a college guy) . . . but if Beck shows promise . . . even if we go 0-16, Cam will be given one more year to turn it around.

For a team that has struggled to draft well, having 15 of our 22 starters current draft picks looks good. BUT, just because they are starting doesn't mean they are GOOD starters. Don't get me wrong our O-line looks nice and we have some nice young guys on offense and defense. But it remains to be seen how good they will be over the long haul. Some of these guys are starters because they are simply better than the alternative, which isn't saying much. And there are a lot of misses over the same time span. I'm still not sold on Jason Allen yet. One good game (or two decent ones) does not a career make. And we still have to see on Beck, Ginn, and some others. I'm not going to hinge my hopes on the current 15 new starters just yet. After all we are a dismal 0-10 with that group. Pardon me for being a bit gunshy, but I'm taking the wait and see approach from now on. It helps keep from getting the hops up too high. BUT, it is nice to see the young guys playing and it's nice to see that an attempt is being made FINALLY to get this team younger and faster.

Let me say that I agree with Coach.....No, he' shouldn't be afraid for his
    job this year.

Next year, however....If we're still winless after 4 games (My personal choice is all)...He should be fired.

Look, I thought it was a good hire, and, i want the guy to succeed but, you can't fire a guy over 3/4 of a season. if the second season is the first 1/4
through, and, there's still no wins?

I think fireing is a possibility.
