I need to go to court tomorrow to provide evidence in a case where a customer of mine is being charged with fraud. On the subpoena I received it says that i'm "to give evidence concerning the above charge". So i'm sitting here tonight, with my file, going through it and I have no idea what to do/expect. Nobody has contact me since the incident occurred, so I'm just sitting here reading through everything since the incident happened a little over year ago now. Will i be able to just walk in there, with my file and all my information and just be able to answer whatever they ask me? Should I be memorizing the key dates and stuff that apply because I won't be able to have my file for reference? Im just uncomfortable without knowing whats going on, or what to expect. Anyone with any guidance or advice out there from a legal standpoint would be greatly appreciated!

You need to sort out anything pertaining to the customer and incident if you have any knowledge of what that is. It probably would've been a good idea to have contacted the attorney who served the subpoena (they are generally VERY helpful). I get served about 10-15 subpoenas a week and either attorney (plantiff or defendant) is always very helpful especially since they want something...haha. I would show up at court early and seek out the attorney who served the subpoena to find out if there is anything specific they are looking for (so you can narrow down your paperwork before the case starts). Other than that, don't freak out. Since you will only be a witness, don't put too much pressure on yourself.

do you have physical evidence? otherwise just try and remember what happened to the best of your honest ability. that's the only thing you can do :)
