If you could choose any quarterback in the NFL to be the starter for the Miami Dolphins, who would it be? Please disregard the fact that it would take time to teach the new QB our system. Assume its a seamless transition. I choose Eli Manning. He's the best friend of a strong running game, and a big offensive line. He can make all the throws. He is confident in his championship capabilities. His demeanor in the huddle is as cool as they come. Eli would fit very well with Henning's offense; and would be a model citizen for the type of player Sparano is looking for. And Eli is still a kid. This thread is not about knocking on Chad Pennington. I can't put into words what Chad means to this team. He was amazing on the final drive. We wouldn't have won without him. But lets just say we throw Chad into a group with all the other QB's in the NFL, and you get to choose just one. Who do you choose? P.S. I think Chad Henne could my answer to this question 2 years from now.
Eli's still too inconsistent for me. Makes poor throws. I want to say Brady but he is coming off the injury. Give me Brees or Cutler. I take Cutler because he's my favorite QB out there.
I agree. The first time I saw it, I almost fell out of my chair, thinking he had just jumped ship and became a trader. But it's gish so I won't hold it against him.
In my eyes Warner and Bress are playing the best football right now. Warner has been there, and has the experience.
Stop this! We just won a game and we are now tied for second in the division, at least wait until the off-season for this discussion.
Yeah. Has a great arm and accuracy. He is a gun slinger but it doesn't surprise me considering he's throwing 37 passes a game. He sometimes throws good picks.
I would go Peyton Manning. Imagine his play action fakes to Brown, and then being able to hit Ginn and Camarillo over the top. With Ginn's speed, if a corner or saftey even took one step up to play the run, Ginn would be open all day long.
I am happy with Pennington. He doesn't try to do too much or force things. I know he is not the most mobile guy and doesn't have the strongest arm, but I think we can win with him.
Well seeing as how we passed on Drew Brees like 40 times, (ok it was only 3) I won't even fantasize about it anymore, but he would still be my pick. I'm ecstatic over Penningtons play but it still hurts, just a little deep down that he was a jester.
I pick who we have, it is what it is. I would have loved to have Jim Brown, Jerry Rice, Mean Joe Green, but what does that get me?
Pretty much anyone on my long list of QB's I wanted to have in a Dolphins uniform to begin with but for some reason didn't or didn't get a fair chance: Drew Brees (2x), Brian Griese (sans Turnstile Smith and WannyJay), Philip Rivers (stock soared after Marino scouted him for us), Jay Cutler (just missed), Brady Quinn (Cam had a brain fart), and Matt Ryan (I still like Jake Long though).
Yep, me too. I guess it might just be a generational thing, but I don't put much stock in fantasy. It's like making love to your fist. I'll take what Chad P is doing for us.
Peyton is just a no brainer. The Colts should be 3-6 or something like that right now. They are in the hunt only because of Peyton Manning. There aren't many I'd take over Chad either. AT this point in his career Brett Favre actually isn't one of them.
If you can guarantee me Brady will come back as he was before, it's him all the way. Even over Peyton. After that, it's Brees or Peyton. I would even consider Cutler if only for his age - he'd be here for a while
A fully fit Brady. Failing that, Pennington is the right QB for THIS young team while they continue developing confidence. He's a coach on the field.
If you mean any QB now playing, I would go with Manning. If you mean any QB we had a realistic chance at (once or more) in the last few years, I would go with Drew Brees.
Pennington, but if I had to pick anyone else, it would be Brees. I know I'll get fried for saying Penny, but he means a whole lot more to this team right now than just his solid QB play. His attitude, leadership, mentality, drive, desire, professionalism, motivation, are all things this young team needs right now more than anything else.
