Our FINS are the bottom feeders since their inception... The last 7 years have been 1 heartache after another. It started on the 1999 playoff game against Jacksonville and has been in a steady decline since...

Granted, we made the playoffs in 2000 and 2001 with Jay Fieldler as QB and Wanny as HC. But as each year progressed, we continued the slide to where we are right now. This is a team that could have been in an SB in 2000 or 2001 had JJ stuck around.

Our draft picks in the past 5 to 7 years are proof that there were flaws in management and coaching. Too much power given to individuals that didn't know what to do with and handle it... No proper structure in place for ANYONE to succeed after the departure of JJ.

The first 2 seasons under Wanny's control was a result of JJ. Had he stuck around 1 more year, I believe we would have been in the big dance... However, that is left up to debate.

Since the retirement of DAN and JJ, we have had 13 different QBs... 4 different HCs. 5 different OCs and 4 different DCs...

As of 2000, we have 3 players currently starting that was on the team then... And have seen at least a 30% change in the starting lineups per year since then... This has GOT TO BE the longest rebuilding effort in the NFL!!!

However, rebuilding was NOT the choice made in these changes, the changes were made to continue to chase the playoffs... And by doing so, we got ourselves into CAP problems and had to release players that SHOULD have been kept!

Now while I will disagree with the release of CAM, if there was ever a TRUE start to REALLY start over, this would be it... The reality has slapped us all in the face. We are starting from total scratch from right now...

Now in my opinion, I am hoping that scratch means keeping the good players and filling in around them... Even BILLY BOY knows that he can't fill EVERY NEED that this team has in the first year... And that will be keeping the aging vets that are on the team... At least for another year...

We have had a lot of rookies and second/third stringers come out in the past few weeks during injuries that deserve a shot as well... Again, I think that BILLY will keep most of them...

We currently have 8 draft picks, maybe 9... Not sure... We also have some cap room for an FA or 2... IMHO... We have at least 10 positions that need to be filled with a starter. Now since this is obviously NOT going to happen this year, you have to ask what positions can we fill with FA and Draft picks that will have the most impact...

Now we can all agree, well most will agree, that we are going to need a VET at QB next year. We need to fill several spots on the "D"... A CB, SS, DE, NT and a LB. "O" we need a guard, LT, QB and TE for depth...

Now that is 9 positions we have a need to fill... Can you see any of the VETS leaving this year especially with the holes that need to be filled behind them?

Now you could plug and play with all that is available in the draft and FA, but if you see releasing a vet in this coming year, especially if they are productive, please let me know your thoughts as to why...

Now I know that I have been all over the place with this post but that is the way I am feeling about this WHOLE thing going down with BILLY... I will give him and his hires a year. IF we go 1-15 next year, will I be right to critize them?

I'll bet you and anyone else $5 million dollars that Bill Parcels will still be with the Phins by midnight tonight AND $5 that Bill Parcels will be with the Phins throughout next season!

I'm willing to make this bet to make sure all those knocking on Bill really know what they are talking about.

I don't understand the need for a veteran QB. If this is to be a true rebuilding effort, we need to let the young guys plays. That means Beck, that means Ginn, that means Hagan. That means Roth, Rod Wright and Jason Allen on defense. That means no more veteran patches and fixes.

Having said that. Ken, if we go 1-15 next year, I think we will ALL have a right to complain. Personally, if we re-played this season again, I doubt we go 1-15 so the chances of it happening again are probably slim, which is a nice incubation period for the new coach/gm/vp to have. Heck, even if they win 4 or 5 games next year, they can hang their hat on that and see the improvement where it matters most, even if it is artificial.

There's just no way we'll go 1-15 again. Our players are all of sudden scared of the man running the franchise (Bill) rather than laughing at the man holding the clipboard (Cam). Thats 2 more wins right there. Granted that's still only a 3-13 record...but you only said 1-15.

Agreed SAM... However, does BECK do any better as a starter next year? While I agree with you in support of the rookies on the team, will they be more productive next year? Of course no one really knows and we really don't even know what plan BILLY has in mind... The whole point to the psot is that half of our vets, if not more, will be back next year...

It was just made in fun Fin not meant as a dig.

Really, I can't comment on the post.
I think this is just a thread meant to vent about the fact you and others are still upset about the Bill P hiring. That's really what I get out of it and that's fine but at some point we have to turn our focus to hopes that this move works don't we?

I do agree with your take on JJ and the unfortunate introduction of Wanny.
If JJ's father hadn't died and JJ never decided to reevalute his entire life and quit coaching, I do believe we would be in a MUCH better situation today and that we may very well have contended for a title. That's all speculation though and the reality is the cess pool we have today.

As for keeping Vets, I think many vets will be more likely to want to stay now.
Whether Bill P. wants them or not is a whole other story.
Regardless, even a rebuilding team needs to keep certain vets around.
You can't just completely clean house, you wouldn't be able to field a team and there'd be contracts that would kill you if you simply let someoen loose.

I do feel it would be optimal for a vet QB to come in but the FA's around aren't real promising.
If we got good picks for Thomas and Taylor I'd take them but they'd have to be good picks.

Good insight to the last 8 years of Dolphin Football.

I think you are dead on for the most part on all of the above. However, I do think that Miami will need to get better at the WR position. Miami took a chance on drafting a player better than CC. That is not any easy task to do...

Marty Booker will be gone, unless he restructures a deal that allows him to pay the dolphins to play. It's not that I don't like him...But his cap number, age & speed will give him a chance to move back up north, closer to his family.

Joey Porter had a strong 2nd half of the season. I do not think he was used correctly when he did play. It did not help that he struggled to pick up the less than average gameplan. Tuna could go either way on this one. Trade/Release and take the cap hit now or Keep him for one more year, before he makes his final decision.

I think the secondary will get whacked mostly.

I hope that Bell can be ready for Training Camps. If not, he could end up a release or back-up role again. He is a beast of a player when healthy. He has a great knack for making big plays. When Saben was asked why he did not get more playing time, he said something like he was injury prone and did not want to risk installing new players mid season. It does mess up the chemistry when a star player is on the sidelines.

Travis Daniels might get a pink slip. He has never really played like most thought he would, after his First Couple of seasons. I hope he stays and competes for the nickel back position. But I also like more speed from a Nickel Back...:glare:

Will Allen has been pretty good considering the shape of the Defense as a whole. He has had some weak games, but then again every player does during the season. He is a solid #2 guy for Miami. I love his speed...just wish he had just a little bit better hands.

Jason Allen pulled himself from oblivion...oh wait he just finally got to play. Yeah I think he should have taken more bumps earlier in his career. He has the natural ability & size to play the game at CB or FS. He just needed time to learn from his mistakes. I think within 2 more seasons, he will start to show great form on the field and make an impact for the Defense. If your team is sucking and you still do not play young 1st round talent to truly see how long it will take them to get it. Then you must have been a member of the Miami Dolphins personnel department. Also see L. Booker...aka I will break your damn ankles on the way to another 1st down.

    R. Hill....Really solid play for the most part last season, before his injury. I think he may stick around as a VET Safety and challenge Allen. But would not be surprised if they went a different way.

I think the rest of the secondary will be traded for late 2nd day picks, players or just straight up released. They will change the face of the Defense by adding new blood to the secondary early in the draft. If Miami trades down they will do so for more picks and a corner in the 1st.

The DLINE is hard to guess right now. If Miami uses the TOP PICK on Chris Long or Glenn Dorsey then your guess is as good as mine. Taylor could be traded, Roth could go back to the bench, Keith most likely will retire, Moses will stick around and challenge Roth if Miami does not select Chris Long & Trade JT for a late 1st or early Top 10 second....who knows..lol.

Great stuff bro!!! And I can agree with 100% of what you posted..

IMHO, Marty will NOT be back next year... He has done nothing to improve the receiving corps...

Travis is not a true positional player and he tends to get outside his coverage responsibilities...

By the way love the sig....Fin In The Moon

But you need a 34 on that ride, it is a smoke'n ride.

I hope Ricky stays next season. I would love to see Williams, Brown & Booker. I would take that over Taylor & Jones-Drew or Peterson & Taylor. Kinda hard to hide that I am a Ricky fan...

Well FinnMoon, we don't have those specific needs, not all of them anyway.

But our situation is pretty darn bleak, at the moment, and I think the first thing we need to do is to motivate and get some production out of the Saban draft picks.

Crowder, Daniels, Alabi, Toledo, Roth, those guys match up to your perceived areas of need, and they are just sitting on the roster like dead fish.

BTW, I thought your defense of Cam was noble.
