Would love to see Peria Jerry in a Fins uni next year. Watched him in the LSU game and he played outstanding ball. Several plays against Herman Johnson 370 lbs plus shows he has solid power in his upper body. Pretty quick and athletic for his size to boot.
Note to ESPN, you're a little late on the whole Peria Jerry thing. Maybe they have been reading message boards around the country and finally caught on.
ESPN is either late to the party or misses it all together or try to hold one of their own. I was reading through one of my old ESPN draft magazines, perusing some of the old rankings they had on players. The one that stuck out most for me was Jabar Gaffney being rated a 99. Right there I decided no more ESPN draft stuff for me.
Hey Con, If you had to pick 3 prospects to play NT for us coming out next year that can not only anchor against the run but also provide some pass rush skills or at the least TFLs who would your top 3 be?
Evander Hood, Jeria Perry and Dorell Scott. I might make some noise as Hood and Jerry are viable candidates for 3 technique status. But both can hunker down and hold their own when they wish. Hood is a flat out stud, and if you ask him to, he will be in the backfield on almost every play. Scott is a guy under the proverbial radar so to speak, but he can tie up blockers and control the middle very well. He is very strong at the POA. They are also a little taller than what many would say to be the ideal for a NT, but if the guy is about 6'2'' or so I don't think it that big an issue. But if you want someone like that look no further than Terrance Taylor who's play has slipped this season, but he is still a pretty talent for a NT job.
Well I don't want to start using Juniors just yet, and I do think Cody won't be a big target for us. Maybe Raji as well, I need to sit down and go over some of these guys again to be honest.
Thats cool, guess I should have put in my original post regardless of graduating or not. Usually I do not like to include Juniors either until they officially declare, I just have a feeling we are going to see an awful lot of underclassmen declare for the next draft.
