To give the Wild-Cat credit for the Dolphisn turn of fortune is defiantly a mistake. If Cleo Lemon was our starting Quarterback this team would be nowhere near 7-5. The WildCat has been shut out and yet the Dolphins are still winning. I would argue that the three things that are contributing to our success is Tony Sparano, Jake Long, and most importantly Chad Pennington. I think Chad Pennington has done more for the Dolphins this year than any player has done for their team. I agree Matt Ryan looks sharp for a rookie and that his ceiling is higher than Chad's but Pennington has been brilliant. He is the leader of an offense that has lacked an identity since Dan Marino retired. The wild-cat didn't help Chad Pennington throw for 2881 Passing yards and have a QB Ratings of 92.8. With Chad Pennington this team belives they can win. I am 100% in agreement with FinNasty. With less Chad has done more. Chad Pennington is the NFL Comeback Player of the Year without Question and moreso than Favre or anyone else has revitilized his career. The Wild Cat was nice for the 3-4 weeks it was lasted.
The Wildcat was the reason Miami jump started it's season. That is undeniable fact. It opened the playbook against a very good defense and caught them on the hop. It gave them latitude to get Chad's head around the playbook, a way to get their two best offensive weapons on the field at the same time and it meant that opposing co-ordinators had much more work to do in the week prior to the game. That final point has been the biggest knock on effect to Chad's success. So yes, the Wildcat IS the reason why Miami's fortunes changed.
I'd disagree pretty strongly with everything except it meaning coordinators had to put in more work. They'd have still beat the **** out of the Patriots week 3 without the Wildcat. Three of the four touchdowns out of the formation already came in the Red Zone, and two of those rushing touchdowns came inside the 5. They had no problem whatsoever moving the ball in that game.
Turner is a beast. But it's just that ATL is running more often than us. Their ypc is 4.3. Ours? 4.2.
Well we'd have to agree to disagree given the absolute disaster we were running the ball in weeks one and two.
