[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBMU6l6GsdM]YouTube - Missile defense multiple kill vehicle hover test[/ame] Now that is just too cool. Never seen anything like it.
I cant figure out - is it being controlled and therefore can cease fire - or is it simply deploying its entire pay load and then drops at empty? Also, while clearly the concept is neat and has a huge "butt-clench" factor for an enemy, what's its accuracy I wonder? Very cool.....
Not sure, but from the amount of angles the shots seem to be firing from it looks like the inventor is not too concerned with accuracy. More of, fire in every direction and obliterate whatever is around.
Well then, lets hope its only ever deployed from a DRONE, cause I wouldnt want our Men and Women anywhere near that then....
Thats one thing I was having a hard time figuring out if all the flame bursts were from bullets flying or were some of them to stabilize that nasty little thing in flight.
I'm guessing it's be used more like a grenade. Deploy it into a closed area and send death on a career day
If it can be programmed to not fire in a particular direction, then it would greatly reduce the danger of friendly fire, although probably not eliminate it completely. Another question is where would something like this be used. I don't see it being used in places like Iraq because the insurgents will use human shields.
Just like the EKV or Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle, it is "Boosted" into the path of an oncoming ICBM. It is really just a Payload that goes spastic as incoming threat is detected. EDIT: Actually after watching it again, it is EXACTLY like an EKV and what you are seeing is the propulsion system. The EKV has 4 "Jets" that direct it into the path of an incoming ICBM. This is just Lock-Mart's version of something that already exists
Aha, we're on our way to UFOs. Maybe that Australian google streetview was just a shot of this. Maybe all those who spot UFO's are just premonitioners'ists.
