Good, they must have been fully embarrassed. If thats what it takes for them to quickly change things, so be it... Although the defensive playcalling during the Ratriot game could have been the worst I have seen all season.

This article should serve as the conclusion to the point that Armando knows nothing about what he is viewing on a football field.

Let me shorten the article for the dork:

The coverage versus the Patriots was dictated by the coverage of Randy Moss. For 80% or more of the offensive plays in the first half Moss was either doubled or bracketed. Fortunately for the Dolphins defense, the Buffalo Bills nor the St. Louis Rams employ Randy Moss. Neither of the teams could acquire single coverage versus another receiver and the Dolphins remained in zone coverage.

    A couple of side notes.....

I do love how Armando could not pass up the opportunity to throw a jab at Jason Allen. From every observation that I made in the first half of the Patriot game, Allen did his job. He jammed the snot out of Randy Moss and resumed tight coverage knowing that he had help deep from Renaldo Hill.

Where Jason Allen went wrong: Jason Allen went wrong in the second half of the Patriot game after the Dolphins went into the locker room down 17-14 at halftime. The discussion in the locker room among the staff went something similar to this:

    Sparano:
    Pasq:
    Sparano:
    Pasq:
The double coverage came off Moss. They threw to Moss.

The double coverage went on Moss. They threw to the underneath routes.

That there is a "rope a dope" ladies and gentlemen and it led to 31 points INSTEAD of 17 as was the case in the first half. The end result was that Jason Allen and Will Allen was asked to do something that they could not do in the second half. As a matter of fact, I do not know of a single corner presently in the NFL that can cover Randy Moss in single coverage. Yet, that is exactly what our corners were asked to do for 50% of the second half. If Armando would focus a little less upon throwing jabs and a little more on the field, he may actually discover what is going on down on that green patch of grass.

The staff made a calculated decision at the half. They made the decision based upon the results of the first half. The second half proved that the first half was a better plan. We learned nothing from that game other than the personel in this secondary MUST double cover Randy Moss.

So we either need more corners or less Moss. I think I'll go with the latter :D

No, we need more pass rushers. If you can't slay the beast, you cut off his life line, in this case, a standing QB. The Giants taught us that emphatically.

I've been saying all along we need to draft a NT/OLB

Yep. We still need better DBs, but we also need an improved pass rush. Maybe the rookie D linemen will improve in their second year, but a couple new LBs would help a lot.
