wcbstv.com - Nassau Cops: PTA Mom, Boy Found Half Naked In Car Is it just me or does it seem like more and more of these types of stories keep multiplying over the last few years?
Seems to be a problem apparently, but of course stories like this always come off as cool. Whereas if it was PTA 30 something year old guy and a 13 year old girl it would be a terrible sex offense. The plain and simple fact is that both situations are of some older person taking advantage of a minor, which is always a terrible sex offense, should be punished the same, and viewed negatively in the public eye in the same way. Another one of society's weird double standards I guess.
Sorry to play spoil sport again but why is everyone taking this case so lightly? I mean in the Santa Claus child molester thread people are ready to have the guy killed whereas in this thread people are making fun of what happened...I'm sorry but isn't this the same thing? I understand one dealt with the prolonged abuse of a child/children against the child's/children's will and the other deals with a young teen apparently willingly engaging in the activity but either way an adult took advantage of a child and I just don't see the humor. In addition lighthearted attitudes taken to cases like this are probably why they are rising as these women sex offenders seem to get less punishment than do male sex offenders. Essentially what these kind of attitudes lead to is more cases like this happening and more innocent children being taken advantage of. I personally want to view all child molestation as equally terrible and punishable so that all children are protected and there are even fewer child molesters walking the streets (both male and female). So once again I am missing the humor here. I normally like to make lighthearted posts but I just feel I have to voice my opinion here. Seriously why is it that this case can be laughed about and the other one not (I'm thinking it has to go back to the female abuser-male victim, male abuser-female victim problem that I mentioned earlier). Honestly, I'm just trying to figure out why one case of child molestation can be laughed at and the other punishable by death? When innocent children are being taken advantage of in both cases. Personally I think each are fairly equally terrible with the slight edge going to the victim in the Santa Claus case since the victim in this case seemed more willing, but either way to me child molestation is never funny or up to be made fun of. Maybe someone can explain to me why this is so funny and lighthearted. One final thing is that I don't want this post to come off as me being an a-hole so to speak because I just take this kind of stuff seriously (why I repeated things so much-to drive points home) and want answers as to why one case is funny and the other not. I'm not attacking anyone personally just the overall sentiments being presented which I think are inappropriate. I hope everyone understands the point I am trying to make, that I respect everyone here, and that I'm not just trying to stir in doo-doo but trying to get to the bottom of why two terrible offenses can be treated so differently.
Because the fantasy of a teenage boy getting it on with an adult teacher has been around for at least 25 years (see Porky's). In a larger sense, it's kind of been worked into the rite of passage mythos.
I always tell the guys that claim they had sex at 13 with their babysitter or older chick "that’s not sex, that molestation"....for some reason they don't like that...
Dude, the very same is true for teenage girls and teachers. In fact, in the majority of cases involving sex between a teenage girl and a teacher, it's the girl getting things started. Yet, in one case everyone screams bloody child abuse, in the other everyone's like, welcome to manhood, champ.
I'm not making a judgment call; I'm just pointing out that viewpoint has been around along, long time.
Exactly, its a double standard. To me whether its a fantasy or whatever an adult having sex or attempting to have sex with a minor clearly knows what they are doing is wrong since they are messing with a less than 18 year old child (according to the law). Maybe for young girls having sex with the teacher or some other adult man is a fantasy and we should just say good job kid and laugh it off. To me that won't work, the law is the law and child molestation is child molestation period.
great post bro. while i wasn't one of the people calling for heads in the last post, i agree that this is just as bad. while when i was 13 i would have thought this would have been 'cool' its still a terrible thing to happen. i'm surprised no one has called for this woman to by lynched in the center of town too. though, i guess it's good no one has said it yet because i don't think that's the correct punishment, but, c'mon people, stick to your guns!
Tis true. I was a sub for a time years ago. High school was understandable, as the ages were close. But the middle school girls were actually more overt and aggressive. They'd act up so you'd have to deal with them. They'd look for ways to make you to physically touch them, etc. They'd look into your eyes they way they shouldn't. Ultimately it's up to the adult to be responsible. Nothing would have ever happened with me, the temptation just isn't there. But I got to see it firsthand. Hell I know a guy personally that got caught up with a high schooler. And he wasn't the first with this girl....or the last!
This happened at the elementary school I went to and in the neighborhood I grew up in. It was pretty disturbing to say the least.
