Win or lose, and assuming it's a quality game - where will this game rank in your opinion out of our classic games against the jets? Just below the AFC championship? Or lower?
A bit lower then the 1982 AFC Championship game, but ahead of the Ray Lucas meltdown game, especially with Chad Pennington at our helm.
Dude... So much history between the Jets and Dolphins and you bring up Lucas... Argggggghhhh that name makes me sick!!! Here goes: 51-45 OT game, Miami loses. Marino and O'Brian go at it all game. Jets win in OT. The fake spike game. Need I say more? Game at JRS, I think it was 91 when the playoffs were on the line for us.. We blew the game and the Jets qualified on a last second field goal. The comeback in the Meadowlands.. We were up 31-14 in the 4th quarter.. I don't even want to remember this one.... There have been some classic Miami- Jets games. The fact that Jets have already choked takes the luster out of this one.. Now if the Patsies get Buffalo-ed and this game is for all the marbles, then I think it has the potential to rank up there with the best games.... Assuming it stays close and gets decided in the 4th quarter.. Or OT
I was perusing their site yesterday and they were classifying losses.. the fake spike game bothered a lot of them. To me, this would be fabulous if we win and would prolly take first place in my personal ranking of Jets games. I mean, we go from worse to best using a quarterback THEY discarded like used paper plates, and then beat them in their own house (rented) for the division title.. did I mention with the discarded qb?? glorious would not be a glorious enough word.
All those games, like the fake spike one, were memorable, but most were not "important", this is the first shot we have with Jets since the Lucas Meltdown kept us out of the playoffs. Best moment in the playoff games though: All Pro Marvin Powell jumping offsides in the AFC Championship game...
This would be my number one, hands down. Going from the gutter to the top with their QB?? Priceless, this whole season has played out like a movie.
This one, without quesrion. Yes, we played them for the AFC championship in 1982 in the mud in the Orange Bowl when Duhe had all those interceptions, but that was the strike-shortened season. To come back from 1-15 with all these young kids and their former quarterback and go into their house to play them for the division championship-- Biggest Jets game EVER.
