Thought we could use a thread to discuss any new Blu-Ray's coming out, new tech, personal collections, market trends, advice, etc since a good number of us have em now. Great websites for news and info: http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/ I'll start off with some must haves for any new Blu-Ray consumer: Planet Earth (BBC version) - (awesome views and wonderful documentary filmed completely in HD) The Dark Knight - (The IMAX clips are no slouch in terms of visual awe themselves) Any Pixar/Disney collaboration The Ultimate Matrix Collection Godfather Trilogy Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Blade Runner (Ultimate Collector's Ed.)

The spiderman 3 movie may be bad, but as far as extras, and A/V quality go Spiderman 3 is up there. And no it is not my collection (well not those alone), and some listed I have on hd-dvd. I have like 50/60 hd-dvds, and at least 40+ blu-rays. I will get a hard count once I can get them out of boxes from moving.
Eh, sure. Still can't quite makeup for a bad movie though. Mind putting some of your boxes in your car again?
According to BluRay.com, they should be out next year around Christmas. Blu-ray.com - Lord of the Rings in 2009
I know, I know. You'd think they'd work on those before some of the garbage that's already on Blu-Ray.
I'm tempted to buy the Band of Brothers Blu-ray even though i own the DVDs.... When is Saving Private Ryan coming out?
Supposedly, it'd be theatrical version 1st, then the extended. Come on, like a studio's going to lose money and put out the good stuff first. Rumor has it it's taking a while for most of the Spielberg collection to get out on Blu-Ray which is a ripple effect of Paramount's initial backing of HD-DVD plus Dreamworks own financial issues.
Will start my BD collection after Xmas when I get my PS3. I already bought The Dark Knight, but that's it so far. I have over 450 dvd's so jumping to BD and leaving dvd behind gives me mixed feelings. And which of the 450 do I upgrade? So man questions lol.
Usually, I'd just recommend upgrading just the ones that have high def extras the regular DVDs didn't have
Gimmie the make, model, and license plate of your car please. I'll also forward some empty boxes to you so you can pack.
Band of Brothers BD is only 38$ at Amazon, so if you're thinking about now's the time. Wish I wasnt broke, I'd consider upgrading my dvd set. I bought WALL-E for my g/f. I don't usually like those types of movies but I watched it this afternoon. I thought it was GREAT. The story was really good and the animation was of course amazing....really cool film.
you should catch more of those films. I know alot of Adults dont like them cause there for "Kids" but those movies are great. The picture/audio quality are awesome. Check out Kung Fu Panda if you havent
You too? Wait what? I've had bluray since the PS3 came out. Wonderful bluray player by the way. It does a lot more than just bluray and games as well. Criterion uses it as their reference player. Good enough for me! I only own planet earth and that disney movie that just came out. I rent all my movies from Netflix. I buy only a few movies, those that I dont' mind watching over and over.
It's on sale at Best Buy for 14.99. I never saw it but heard good things. Might pick up the BD for that price.
yeah thats a good price. Im sure you'll like the movie. I bought when it first came out but havent watched it yet. Will do it tomorrow with my nieces
pretty good deal for you Doc. 50% off BR at amazon.com Couple of good ones in the $10-$15 section [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Blu-ray-movies-discs-store-deals/b/ref=sa_menu_blu1?ie=UTF8&node=193640011&pf_rd_p=328655101&pf_rd_s=left-nav-1&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_i=507846&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=1QWJWNYZA2BW1N13RN2Z"]Amazon.com: Blu-ray Store: Movies & TV[/ame] EDIT: the link wont work
I had like 80% of my movies stolen from my apartment, and rather then using the insurance money to get dvds again, I just started to replace movies as blu-rays. And I bought Kung-fu Panda, I liked it. It has some great PQ, not sure about sound since my sound system is in storage at the moment.
The Matrix Blu-ray was incredible. The greens and the blacks are so much sharper. I also noticed that when they did close ups on Trinity, she had a lot of facial hair and Morpheus has very large pores. I'll watch the other two tomorrow or early on Sunday. I'm thinking of grabbing Casino Royale on Blu-Ray. Does anyone have that one?
I have both. Frankly I wasn't so sure the Collector's edition was worth the extra $9 but they're both great. If you can find the collector's edition that is under $3-4 dollars more than the original release, I'd go for it. Either way, you won't lose. Ready for Round 2? I got my crowbar in hand and I could use some blu-ray upgrades of your original dvd's.
Saw some Blu-Ray at Best Buy they were playing Transformers and it looked incredibly cheesy. Quality was amazing just looked weird.
I'd jump on that if I didn't already have it. I think though that the live free and die hard is not the uncut version like the stand-alone.
They had it for $38 at Frys during Black Friday (which I got then). Took amazon long enough. lol, I don't think giant talking fighting robots can look anything but weird.
