That would be my first choice too. Its where he made his name and we all know it needs making again. This past season with the Browns was brutal.

Seeing some rumors on other boards that suggest Chud as a possibility. Apparently he is still left owing around 3 million a year for the next 3 years on his Browns contract. He could take over as Assistant Head Coach and OC for the Hurricanes for 400 to 500k a year while still cashing in from the hopeless Browns for the next 3 years.

Still, I will believe it when I see it.

That one recruit will likely play WR. He is really showing he is going to be a leader in college. Be more than happy to have him as a Florida Gator

Orson Charles is a nice talent and a nice get for the Gators. The point about us losing him is no big deal in my opinion. We have enough wide receivers and running backs for next year. We have roughly 8 freshmen wide receivers from this past season and we have Graig Cooper, Jarvarris James, Mike James, Lamar Miller, possibly Bryce Brown and potentially Jakhari Gore coming in next years class. I think we're fine at those positions.

He is not committed to the Gators. I was just saying that it would be nice to have him. However the Gators have very limited Schollys avaliable. I think we have 7-10 left and alot of those will be gone after this weekend.

FWIW, there are rumblings from students that have spotted Major Applewhite on campus. Could be a candidate for our open OC spot.

That would be a hell of a get. Question is if they are allowed to add him to the staff when he's the head coach in waiting at another school?

As far as I am aware his last position was as OC in 2007 for Alabama. What job is he supposed to be waiting for? If you are talking about Texas that is Will Measchamp or however you spell the guys name.

Hurricanes win the National title!!!!! Well at least in our college football dynasty on 360! I chose to be the Canes after I was told that me being Florida was not an option. :tantrum: However I wanted to have great recruiting grounds and I knew the Canes were solid on Defense.

I beat OSU in the title game 49-10 for alittle extra revenge.

Major Applewhite is the offensive coordinator at Texas, not Alabama. He was previously at Alabama, and before that, he was Todd Graham's offensive coordinator at Rice.

Major is a guy who will get a head coaching job in the very near future. He's one of the many coaches that run the spread offense, and that offense is proliferating to the point that I believe it is about to reach a saturation point.

Seminole High kid I believe. Wonder where they play him. He's played QB, LB and Safety. At Seminole High, they don't learn anything other than to outrun the opponent.

Ray Ray will more than likely play Safety for you guys. No way he plays QB.

You guys also got Dyron Dye (Who is really good friends with Ray Ray). Dye will play DE in college and both are from Seminole High

Huge get...I was personally a bit surprised but he was pretty silent about the whole process, but I thought Gator. Ray-Ray is much more than just speed. He is a legit 215 or so and may grow into an OLB but he has CB type body control he can turn and run and has great COD when he has too, is a force in the run game and is a playmaker that shadows like a CB. Very excited to have this kid.

Debose was a letdown going to the Gators. I have watched a lot of football through the years and this kid reminds me out of HS of another kid I was awed by in the old Florida-Georgia challenge played in Orlando....Deion Sanders. He really fits the Gator offense better than the Canes but still it is nice to have as many play makers as possible.

Do not get too hyped on Dye..he has grade issues and IMHO cannot carry 270, so he may end up an OLB or Prep school. I think he is role player and ST's guy.

This class will have some tremendous impact players though...Brandon McGee is a true shut down corner but is not physical enough (just not big enough yet)......Lamar Miller is underrated and a stud back, underrated because he skipped a lot of the "camps"...Brandon Washington is slow on long speed but surprisingly quick off the ball, has good short area agility and quickness, and is a mauler that can anchor like we have not had inside in a long time..Antonio Harper is a physical freak and is starting to understand the game (played down a lot in HS) who may grow into a DE..but the hands down best HS football player I saw all year on video and at the AA game is Bryce Brown...230, legit 4.4 speed, great hands and is a pretty good blocker..if he picks up the mental part of the passing game he is a 3 down back that you have to account for on every play, and instantly makes the O better....this kid will impact this team as a freshman IMHO...if his commitment holds.

Close with a few lineman and this class is only slightly below last year....IMHO.

Interesting opinion. I've watched him and I think the Seminole duo are just about as raw as they can get. I've only seen them outrun people. I go to a rival school of theirs.

Thanks, I don't know anything on him.

I've heard a lot about McGee and read up on him as well. I like Lamar Miller a lot, I'm a fan of his game. I agree that he's underrated. Bryce Brown is a helluva talent, I completely agree with you. He's very good at everything from what I've seen but I haven't seen his second gear of speed yet. Maybe I just haven't seen the video of it but I haven't noticed it. I hope he comes, talk is that Missouri and Oregon are heavily recruiting him as well.

One can hope we get OL lol.

OL is the most important position for the Hurricanes to finish out the recruiting class this year.

Verbal commits as of 1/5/2009 OL

Jermaine Johnson - Big Kid, 6'6" 300lbs, was an Auburn commit last season, spent one year at Hargraves due to grades, but the kid was a late bloomer as well since I believe he only played 1 to 2 years of High School football. Rated as a 5* prospect after some seasoning at Hargraves.

Brandon Washington - Was a signee from last year out of MNW, spent 1 year at Milford due to grades. 6'5" 320lbs and Milford coach said he was one of the best OL prospects he had ever coached. I still think he ends up at G for us.

Stephen Plein - Currently listed as a TE and is 6'6" 250lbs and will most likely start his career as a blocking TE. Don't sleep on Plein as a potential LT ala Eric Winston and Jason Fox, he has the frame to get up to 300lb plus with the right diet and lifting.

Corey White - Plays LT for his High School team and could go either way in college. LT or TE as he has played both. Nice size for a TE, 6'5" 245lbs, best bet would be to redshirt his 1st year and bulk up.

Strong leans as of 1/5/2009 OL

Jared Wheeler - Comes down to Miami and Vanderbilt, last interview was a strong Cane lean. OG all the way at 6'6" 310 lbs without the quick feet to play tackle.

50/50 shot as of 1/5/2008 OL

Pete White - From Washington D.C., big guy already looks like a man with a full grown beard, 6'5" 340lbs, projects to OG.

Malcolm Bunche - 6'6" 325 lb OT/OG prospect from Newark, leaning towards Miami or Rutgers who is going after him very hard.

Daniel Campbell - 6'5" 330lb OG who spent the last year at Hargrave. Heavily recruited by the top colleges in the nation. His final 4 are Alabama, Miami (Fl), Oregon and USC.

Marcus Hall - 6'5" 300lb OT prospect from Cleveland is a heavily recruited 5* player and to be honest I am surprised he even still has Miami on his final 6 list. Would be a huge commit if he chose the U.

Bobby Massie - Massive OT AT 6'8" 330lb from Hargraves who visited two weeks ago with his OL team mate Campbell. Hall would be ideal, Massie would make a great Booby prize.

Andrew Tiller - On of the top Junior College OL on the market at 6'6" 320lb, would be nice depth with starting experience.

I know Shannon and company are pushing hard for OL recruits this year and have gotten off to a decent start with the verbals and lean with Wheeler. Keep those guys and give me Marcus Hall or Bobby Massie and I am ecstatic, White or Bunche and I would be quite pleased.

Ray Ray is definitely a speed guy but if you look at his tools and physical nature he is someone to get excited about. He is 6-3/6-4 but has "fast" feet and quickness...he is not a long stride get up to speed guy. He has great ball awareness and because his COD is so good he can mirror anyone at that level.

Bryce Brown is a once a decade player IMHO. He is so smooth running he hits his "second gear" and you do not see it...he just pulls away from guys. I have also seen him stick his head in there on pass blocking...now if learns to hit or chip the right guy he is a 3 down back. hopefully (fingers crossed) he holds to his commitment and stays healthy.

Where do you go to school BTW?

Peter White IMHO is the only guy they have a shot at in the 50-50 category....

Wheeler just does not do it for me after watching some videos...looks slow footed and poorly coached...lunges and has poor balance. Maybe he can turn the corner with some coaching....????

JJ will not help very quickly and reminds me of Ben Jones. Lots of tools but a long way to go. Jones from what I have heard has made great strides technically but processes info slowly and lacks understanding in the passing game schemes....

Plein I have heard simply had a stand out camp at the U (at TE) and caught everything in sight and has good quickness. His 40 does not stand out but is workable at TE. He has long arms and not much muscle mass (see his Rivals pic) in his upper body, redirects and changes direction...I would not bank on this kid playing OL...he may be a legit 270 TE before all is said and done......I think Jones and Johnson are the tackles of the future...but Youngblood was a heralded recruit that has not progressed (I thought he lacked tools coming out BTW). Ben Jones may in fact be a legitimate AA if he progresses as far as his tools can take him...he is a 320 lb. with Dancers feet and herculean strength...............

Overall hey I am a big Cane fan but I see a lot of projects but no ready made players that can play early...unless Washington can play tackle, or Ben Jones is ready this year (which I doubt)....which is possible despite his being tagged a guard.

For being realistic and not getting my hopes up, agreed, but in recruiting you never know. I still scratch my head on why we an not get higher profile OL when it is plain as day that we need them desperately and they would have a shot of starting right away.

Wheeler definitely needs coaching and I think they red shirt him to get him up to speed and improve his technique.

Kind of the dark horse of the OL class as you just dont know how far he has come with technique and game knowledge with him only playing 2 or 3 years now.

I still think of Winston or Fox everytime I loot at Plein, potential LT with a bit of eating, weights and coaching. Becoming a 270lb TE works for me though.

I see at least one of the two playing tackle and would lean towards Jones at this point. Youngblood never lived up to expectations, but it happens. I think they will slide Orlando Franklin out to RT for next season and with FOX coming back it gives some time for the incoming newbies to adjust.

We may have to fight over who is a bigger Canes fan, just kidding. Out of all the OL positions next year I am really waiting to see who gets the C nod since Xavier was a senior. My hope is Gunn is ready to go and wins the starting C job.

Would love to see Ray Ray stay at Safety, but looking at his frame you have to think he will become the next 6-3/6-4 245lb OLB for the U or maybe even switch over to TE. Kid already weighs 225lbs. If he could stay around 230 - 235 lbs, could be a safety in the mold of Mays or Chancellor from VT.

RB is the second biggest need behind OL for us this year in my opinion and Bryce Brown is the lynch pin. We need the 220 - 235lb RB with speed that can still knock heads and move the pile. Cooper and James are definitely not that type of RB.

Notice all of our commits at RB this year are big backs? Randy is trying to tell you something there. He knows to play his style of offense we need bigger backs.

DB is our 3rd biggest need but this post is long enough already. Damn I love recruiting and the NFL draft. :tongue2:

Your right they may slide Franklin outside and then I would play Gunn at guard and Horn as the center.....just me but Gunn has been slow to pick things up from what I have heard...also Horn is always labeled as "bright" when I talk to people down there......I like a smart center myself..........we will see i guess.....

I knew there was a reason I liked you in the POFO bro, you are a fellow Hurricane brother.

I was going to put down Tyler Horn for the C spot, but Gunn showed so much promise coming out of High School. Either way or who ever starts, Shannon needs to crack down on the OL and get all of them except for Fox to drop weight and improve their conditioning.

Imagine how much better Franklin could be if he would drop another 15 to 20 pounds and boost his strength by 10 to 15%. Were talking about Jake Long animal status here.

I think the only concern with Johnson is his lack of OC experience. He must be doing something right with the Saints receivers though.
