Thanks bro. I think the Ravens have a very good chance of pulling off the home town discount the way they play together. Plus if they didn't stay we would have to compete with Ryan in New York.

Jason Brown might be the biggest loser in all of this. Considering the talent available in the draft we may re-sign Carey and sign Brown to 12-13m together and then proceed to re-sign Bell, leaving CB, ILB, and FS for the draft.

I dont know why we would want Bart Scott. He really is not that good I think there are better players out there that we can spend our money on.

    Julius Peppers

    Tommie Harris

    Nnamdi Asomugha

    T.J. Houshmandzadeh

Marion Barber we could have 4 awsome running backs. Never happen.

Eric Barton is also a possibility. He'll be an UFA, as well.
Dansby, James Farrior, even Carlos Polk or Mony Beisel are all UFAs as well.

All those dudes are gonna get tagged.

And as for the "hometown discount", don't be surprised if Vern Carey re-signs with is for the discount. The guy spent his entire live in S. Florida. He and his family do not want to leave.

From what I have heard and read, Peppers could be playing for a new team.

I dont think all of them will Julius Pepper does'nt want to be in Carolina. I dont think Carolina is going to sign him back and pay him all that money if he does not want to be there. Plus those we just some of the free agents out there.

Wow the FA market is getting smaller and smaller this year. As if we already didn't need a perfect draft. We really need to go lights out with our picks this year to be competitive next season.

We'll see about that. No one thought Lance Briggs would re-sign with the Bears and he did. And that whole thing was WAY more contentious than Peppers' situation.

Players whine and cry about their contract and how they don't want to play for their current team and they either resign or get slapped with the tag, which they eventually, reluctantly sign.

I don't think a player in the history of the NFL has sat out the entire season after getting the franchise tag.

Terrell suggs is the guy i wanted, this is just another intangible that ray lewis brings to a franchise. The man deserves the outmost respect.

I'm wondering if the Ravens lost something on D when Ryan left.(yes the talent is still there, but.)
They liked playing for him and could have a impact if they go or not.

Bart Scott not that good??? Really, in that group of LB's the numbers he puts up are pretty good. Hes 28 years old, and has shown what he is cappable of in 2006 when he registered 78 tackles 9.5 sacks and 2 INT's.

This is true, but the way they are close it would be easier for them staying together, knowing each other and have to only get used to a new DC, rather then going to a new team, new players, and new coaches. Plus they went very far in the playoffs.:wink2:

Shoot, he was the guy that I thought we had the most realistic chance of adding to our LB group. They still have to do it though, talking about it is one thing, but actually sitting down and figuring out how much money they are leaving on the table may make them think twice.

Dansby would be nice for the inside and then draft someone like L. English for the outside opposite Porter on situational downs and then to eventually replace Porter. :)

Dansby would be the prize, but I think the Cards let Pace leave last offseason with the intent of signing Dansby this year. Arizona has alot of cap room to play with this offseason, all they have to do is get a little creative with the contracts and they can keep their players, and if someone has to go I think the odd man out is Bolden.

    Keep your fingers crossed

Bart Scott is very good actually, and is just entering his prime now. I'd love to have him on the Dolphins. L-O-V-E.

I think alot of people equate being good with # of sacks, # of yards, etc and overlook the role that the player has on a team. Scott is a pretty good player and I would love to have him on the team at the right price.

Very curious to see how the Raven's FA situation turns out. Rex Ryan was apparently well liked and I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't try and figure out a way to free up cap space to bring some of his former players to the Jets.
If that happens, Eric Barton might be available. We could do worse.
The poster who mentioned the Cards letting Pace go with the intention of throwing big money at Dansby this year has a good point. Dansby has helped get them to the SB - they may be thinking he's a priority to re sign.

A little good news for those of us who are praying for Peppers to hit the market:

We all know Peppers said he wants out of Carolina and wants to play in a 3-4 D. The new Defensive Coordinator that Carolina hired, Ron Meeks, has had great success running a 4-3.

Just a little glimmer of hope to keep the dream alive lol.

It really seems that that job is Cameron Wake's so I'm not so sure about Peppers.

Yea but the people who want Peppers here believe that he could be successfully converted into a SSLB to play opposite Porter.

And it sure as hell wouldn't having both Wake and Peppers here. We run a 3-4 D and that scheme can never have enough quality LBs. Dansby, English, Scott, etc.

I doubt this would happen. In order to do this they would have to cut both Rolle and McCalister. That would really deplete their secondary because that would leave them with Fabian Washington as their 1 and Ivy/Walker as their 2. Also Jim Leonarhd and Dawan Landry are both F/A I believe.
