    :woot:

To solidify BB - I'd just pop in a tape of Brian Westbrook highlights and say "Kid - this is how I envision using you at Miami. How does 3 Heismans sound?"

It's looking more and more that RS will run the defense. I have mixed feelings about this as his position coaches on that side of the ball are relatively green. Whipple is expected to also be named Assistant HC.

Bryce Brown is a very important recruit for him to get onto immediately to solidify his commit. I would hope he would also visit Marcus Hall, Malcolm Bunche and Daniel Campbell and show them copies of Bryant McKinnie and Eric Winston's contracts and to reinforce they have plenty of opportunity to get early playing time at Miami to refine their Blocking skills to make it to the NFL.

    Phase 2: DC

Ferman posted this in a thread over on Rivals:

I really do hope we find someone from the pro ranks to run our D. There has to be a position coach or two qualified enough to do the job. Maybe Whipple has a few names in his rolodex. I want Randy to concetrate on being the CEO but if he can't find anyone good enough - then the job falls to him. And now that he has a pro running the offense who has been a HC in the past - I think we may be ok.

No doubt the kid has special talent and he'd be a huge get for this class. If we can somehow get Randle then this class will be truly special.

Now with Mike James already enrolled and Lamar Miller coming in joining Coop and Baby J - how much playing time do you expect BB to get??

And where does Chambers fit in?

IMHO Dub...Bryce if we get him is a first game starter and 1,000 yard back year 1...never seen anyone like him.............Randle is pretty much out of the picture I hear from the public "airwaves"..........Chambers might get some time as a third down back but he is #3 (Cooper being the 2) because he does have a different skill set...Miller, Brown, James and Baby J are all inside the tackle runners, although Miller and Brown have long speed...IMO if Brown comes here...I think Baby J may be the odd man out............that is a lot of real good RB's and one off the chart RB.................

Yeah I just saw an update on Randle where he has zero interest in Miami. With all the WR's we brought in last year - I wonder how hard we are really going after him. I think the kid looks at OU and sees that Bradford is coming back and they lost some WR's so he ends up in Norman.

As far as our RB depth goes - I have a friend in the program who says Chambers may be better than Coop and Baby J when it's all said and done. I almost laughed when I heard that but then again, remember when Soldinger said that about Gore?? Without the 2 knee injuries, Gore may have shattered all the RB records at Miami.

We'll see how it shakes out. The competition this spring will be fierce and that bodes well for us.

Really need to nail down 1 or 2 more OL for this class to finish it out.

Very nice writeup by Manny on Malcolm Bunche. Holy crap this kid is huge and he just turned 17!

I really like the fact his entire family takes personal fitness so seriously as we have had our share of out of shape OL the last few years. Apparently Jared Wheeler and Malcolm Bunche were 2 of the highest priority OL recruits for Stoutland.

Kid looks good. He really hit things off with his new "twin" Marcus Hall on his visit.

And I say twin because Bunche's sister who lives in Miami thought Marcus Hall was her brother Malcom. Funny.

Stoutland seems to be better at closing than Kehoe showed his last few years with the Canes.

Ferman is a total douchebag. We got a great hire at OC though. Now we need to finish out this class. We should be able to haul a top QB and some WR in next years class. Randle and DeBose are going to wish they had come here before their college careers are over.

He can be a times. However he does work tirelessly for his subscribers. I'll at least give him that.

Has Randle declared yet? I still think he ends up at Oklahoma.

Aside from that ghastly yellow shirt - yeah he had me at hello. Love his experience and enthusiasm.

I'm hearing now that Shannon does not plan on running the D. He is actively looking for a DC with one expected to be hired no later than mid February.

I think the statement he made about the duties falling to himself if he could not find anyone was simply made for recruits to hear.

My hope is that Shannon steps back and says 'I don't care what kind of offense you run. Just score points.'

If he can do that and just focus on HIS job we should be fine.

Canes (Hoops) with one of the biggest let down seasons in a while by a South Florida team. I really expect this team to become elite and carry a top 10 ranking throughout the season.

I agree. That loss last night hurt. The non conference loss to Ohio State and losing games to VTech and a game like last night are not going to help matters come selection time. Of course - this could all be cured with a nice run in the ACC tournament.

I have just about given up hope on a NCAA bid and hope we can just hang on and get a NIT bid. I have lost faith in FH and think we may be looking for a replacement. Anyone with ties to Hocutt in the MAC or Big 12 in basketball ?

I've heard this over and over again and the matter has been discussed ad nauseum on a lot of the message boards that I frequent. There really is no factual evidence to support this. Since before Randy took over - the coaching staff has been in a state of flux. Coker switched OC's from one year to the next and was subsequently fired. RS got the job and literally had 4 weeks to salvage a recruiting class. He named Walton DC who was obviously not ready. Then he rushed to hire Nix to cement Marve's commitment. Nix at times showed his lack of competence stemming from the fact that he and Shannon were not on the same page. If you hire people you can't trust or lack competence - then yeah you need to be meddlesome to a certain degree. He did not interfere with Young last year from what I've heard and he certainly won't get in Whipple's way. People (not saying you) use this as a scapegoat reason to bash Shannon and there are not facts to support it.

Dude, I really don't want to bash him, but he makes it so darn hard to not do that. A 12-13 record doesn't help.

No I hear you. 12-13 is very, very difficult to swallow. He inherited a mess. There was no accountability on the team, players were not taking the offseason workouts seriously, there were no leaders. Look at all the 4 and 5 star kids who came in that never panned out under Coker. I've been critical of RS at times but he's really had to rebuild the entire program. Anything less than 9 wins next year and a bowl victory - Kriby really needs to consider replacing him or demoting him back to DC.

Whipple on the way to Wichita...

Bryce won't be there as he is vacationing in Nebraska with his uncle. But family representative Brian Butler will be there as well as Bryce's parents. Here are some excerpts from the Rivals article.

His brother was a big bust, what makes us think this guy will be much better ? He should feel privelidged that the U is considering him :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum:

Marcus Hall had an in home visit with Tressel last night and one coming up with Randy Shannon in the next few days. After the Tressel visit he said it is between Ohio State and Miami, he will phone in his commit next Monday to the Head Coach of the team he chooses.
