Although this may get moved, I am EXSATIC at the moment... As some of you may know, my wife is an ORN, when she came home from work today she had a story for me, actually 2 stories... 1) A surgeon she works with on a regular basis was in Miami last weekend for a vacation (i think vacation), while golfing, he told her he golfed with a Dolphin WR (it just so happened the surgeon and his friend were waiting in line while the dolphin and his friend were behind him). Apparently the Dolphin WR asked him if they could do a foursome, the surgeon accepted... While my wife was telling me this, I asked who the WR was and she said, Woodward, or something... Immediately I said Wilford and she said yes... Wilford apparently told the doctor he was injured all season and thats why his name wasnt well known.. of course you could imagine my response ... 2) The better part of the story is that the surgeon told my wife he is best friends with the dolphins offensive line coach, both going to university of Boston, I said great, because he was just fired, Mike Maser, she said no, his name starts with an S or something and sounds italian (because she couldnt remember from what the doctor said). At first I though Spagnolo, but no way for obvious reasons, then I remembered DeGuglielmo is from the Giants and was there offensive line coach, and obviosly sounds italian, and thats who she was talking about... My wife wears an OR dolphin nurses cap while she works that she got off ebay, so this doctor knows we are finfans.. He and my wife work on alot of cases together, so they are good friends too.. She asked me what I wanted, autographs, and whatnot.. I said screw that, I want that, and I want boxed seats, owners seats.. meet them all.. I want VIP baby... ha... This may be tough to read, and in that i apologize, just freakin awesomely happy about this!!! I couldnt imagine sitting in a box watching my fins.. holy **** I just needed to vent this awesome happening today to all my finfriend!!!
Good for you...what you need to do is get an 'inside' source for info for you and the rest of us... At any rate....great info and great story...
Ernest Wilford doesnt even like football! Just got some more news about this Wilford topic above... My wife and I, watching the pro bowl, were just talking about this doctor who met Wilford again. she mentioned something to me she didnt say before about the doctor and this Wilford story; well apparently Wilford was telling the doctor about his past (high school and football). The doctor said told Wilford told him that he ran track in high school, and played little college football (Im not sure about how much college ball he played, i dont thinki it was alot, but we all know he ran track). The normal stuff, but then, while they were talking (the doc and wilford), the doctor asked him a question about football (my wife forgot what-it was some kind of question about him playing football), Wilford's reply was, "nah, I dont even like playing football"... Pffffft
I dont know how long he ran track for, but if his track stats are anything like how he performs in football, we can understand why... After he told the doctor that, he complained how expensive his gatorade and chips were
Pretty cool story, d13. You know what's funny; is after I read the post, the second thing that came to mind (the first of course is having that connection), was, wow nurses in your area still wear the nurse's caps! My wife is also an RN (also in a hospital) and I just know that no one around this entire area of the country wears those caps anymore.
Shes an OR nurse in surgery all day, maybe thats why? All the OR nurses at her hospital have to wear those caps.
Yeah, who knows.... It's probably one of those regional things. As to the real topic - ya ought to tell your wife she's got plenty of time to work on some great seats now that it's the off season. We've got some really good games coming up next year, too. Good luck Oh and I guess I'm not too surprised that Wilford would say he doesn't like football so much. Are you?....it kind of shows, really.
Great story! As for Wilford, I don't know. The knock on him has always been that he's not a practice guy. He doesn't give it his all in practice but shows up on game days. Maybe his dislike for playing football is the reason he doesn't practice well. Terell Owens has said the same thing about not liking football and we know what kind of a basket case he is. I guess the thing is, Wilford is not a bad football player. And I think he could have helped us this year. But what I mostly heard about him is that he didn't show up in practice and this coaching staff apparently is not interested in guys who don't want to give it their all every day and didn't put him in many games. But I also do believe he had to have been hurt. Our last game against the Ravens we only had 3 WRs on the roster and for a point while Bess was out we only had Ginn and London. Don't you think he would have at least been activated for that game knowing the state our WR corp was in?
If this is true it ratifies what I have been saying all year .That his performance or lack of may be due to accumulated injuries.
