Unless we make the ACC Championship - we do NOT deserve a tournament bid this year. Too many blown opportunities and a a couple bad non conference losses. NIT here we come..(maybe)

Have some faith Bro, no one expected us to beat Wake at home and NO ONE expected us to play Duke so tough and take the game to overtime. The refs are almost always biased toward the Dookies at home. You can't blame Haith for Rios being a selfish SOB which takes away your only true PG, he has done a heck of a job recruiting and they will get better and better as long as he keeps it up with recruiting.

Anyone want to go back to the days before Darius Rice? No thank you!!!!!

The only names I have heard as a possible new DC is more than likely the same as you. Georgia's Willie Martinez, TCU's Dick Bumpas and Cincinnati's Joe Tresey.

One new name I have seen come up is John Lovett, former DC at Clemson under Tommy Tubberville.

Just a few guys on defense to keep your eye on for next year and some of the top talent in South Florida at their respective positions.

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8QbgXsB0hA"]YouTube - Corey Lemonier #55 Jr[/ame]

As of last season the top DE coming out next year and a must have.

The best CB in the state next year, maybe even top 5 on the country. Even at 5'9" the kid really likes to hit.

Already committed to the U baby.

Another smaller corner, but again, the kid likes to come up and hit.

A few other top recruits I can not find highlight reals for just yet. Will post them as soon as they are available. Man I live recruiting and the draft.

Fellow diehards, the Lovett hiring appears imminent.

While this is not the homerun Whipple was or people were expecting, I think it signals the return to running Randy's defense. The less aggressive base 4-3 that bends but does not break. With the right personnel on the DL that can apply pressure, there's no need to do a lot of blitzing like Bill Young likes to do. We got burned time and time again last year by QB scrambles and people being out of position. Young's scheme is not an easy one to learn and I believe had he stayed, we would have seen a lot more success in year 2. That being said, going back to Randy's style of defense is just fine by me. The idiots on Ferman's board can continue disagreeing over this hiring and calling each other names but no one can dispute the fact that going back to what has worked in the past isn't a bad thing.

Agreed, the situations have been switched now with the Coordinators, the big bucks going to Whipple to get that area sorted out and help manage game day decisions. Bring in Lovett who is not as big a name as Bill Young and will not require the same size contract and let Randy help with the Defense and go back to his style.

Much better this way IMO, the whole Bill Young big money, Nix low ball OC always made me scratch my head and I definitely hated Nix's offense. I want to go back to the days of old, be aggressive and sling the ball back down the field, dictate to the Defense, not the other way around.

BINGO!! No more bubble screens and maybe we'll see the TE used in this offense as well as the middle of the field with the WR's. An area we have ignored since Werner took his turn at OC.

 You have no idea how many times I have been pissed off the last few years with very little passing to the TEs and the WRs almost being just decoys. The few times we did throw to Epp's last year he came up with solid gains and we have the big wideouts now to fight for balls in their area. Laron Byrd and AJ, not to mention Tommy Streeter comes back next season and he is what? 6'5" or 6'6"?

I am really looking forward to Whipple ball and seeing if he can get us back to the days of blowing teams out 65 - 7.

The middle of the field is so underutilized in college football. That's why we were so deadly when we had Shockey and then Winslow. We need to get back to that and I think we got a guy in Whipple that can get us there. I hope Epps has a speedy recovery because he has the goods.

A guy I just can't figure out is Richard Gordon - built like Tarzan but plays like Jane. He's a physical freak that should dominate as a TE. He's the Khalil Jones of the TE's.

I believe the talent is there to win an ACC Championship next season. The motto needs to be "No Excuses."

    BB Sets Announcement Date

    Rivals

The report also says that reports of Bryce being interested in the CFL are completely false.

I'm not holding my breath for this kid. Yes he looked amazing in the Army All-Star game and he's considered a 5 Star recruit but that's all relative. Put him against the same level of competition Miller saw each week playing in Dade County and does Bryce still put up the same numbers and garner the same hoopla??

And if he hasn't decommitted - why set a date to announce what we already know??

Something is fishy with the Bryce Brown/Brian Butler deal. I think they are playing the schools involved for extra incentives from boosters. The situation screams for a future recruiting investigation when one of the jilted schools can't let it go.

I fear the same. USC was already guilty of this with Reggie Bush and the NCAA did nothing. Being that it's Miami - you can expect the Death Penalty and perhaps another one of these:

This article was obviously printed before Butler broke the news that Bryce would be announcing on March 12.

Dub...we should hold our breath for this kid...he is an absolute program changer...check out some of his You tubes and replay the AA game...un freakin believable.

with that said Lamar Miller is a damn good back also. I doubt we land Brown if I had to lay money right now...but who knows.......I am 45....been watching HS football and college since before I played it......Bryce Brown is the top player I have EVER seen.....he is off the chart good at everything he does, and every tool he brings to the position and it does not matter what level of competition he plays...if UT get him they are instantly SEC contenders, Oregon ditto Pac 10...and the U becomes the favorite for ACC Championship...IMHO

IMHO there is nothing more than a kid wanting his fame and trying to make the best decision he can....what does it hurt to wait...I think he probably knows where he is going right now and is making sure that nothing blows him away...hopefully he chooses UM but if not I am going to enjoy watching BB for a couple years before he is the first pick in the NFL draft...............this kid is just fun to watch no matter where he plays...but I sure hope it is the U.

If you go back and read some of my earliers posts you'll see that I too was sipping the Kool Aid on this kid - especially after seeing him in the Army game. I still am because I think he's good as you described. I just fear the baggage he may bring that's all. I want him badly and still think in the end he will sign with us.

He and Butler have let these fears perpetuate and will ultimately be the ones too blame should the school he goes to get nabbed for something. This delay raises flags and being that we're Miami - it scares me a little.

Is he worth it after two years when he bolts to the NFL and the U is on probation the next 5 years? The Butler guy is a huge red flag IMHO.

Could be Dub...but this kid has "it"...instincts and has that desire/cockiness/arrogance in his play. He is also fairly humble when you listen to his interviews and the family is definitely religious...In the end ... and it is just my opinion I think this kid is cocky enough that he wants all eyes on him so wait a bit and signing day becomes a memory, and Butler has stated he wants this "mentoring" type role to expand into something more...so Bryce is helping that. He is committed to the U and we had no OC, so I commend him for looking at options. I am sure Randy Shannon knows what is going on...we would love to see him sign with the U, but I understand his reasons for delaying and IMHO they are legit good reasons. As much as I am a Cane fan he has good reason to evaluate elsewhere. At the end of the day though the best situation is either Clemson or the IMHO...but i think AB being at the U keeps him...but who knows....I do know that he is just an off the chart player....he reminds me of Eric Dickerson is how easy he makes everything look.....but without the straight up running style.

I also think this is just too high profile to be a $lanted playing field......maybe Butler gets some kickback$ but again the NCAA will be all over that....plus Shannon is so ultra conservative about doing it the right way that I think he would rather lose a kid than have his friends at the NCAA living in his arse.....

    **** Bryce Brown

That's it. I'm done. Randy needs to pull the offer and send this kid as well as all the other wannabe street agents a lesson.

He just did an interview with Rivals and did not say one single good thing about us.

    I'm posting the link here.

A really good read from Manny and confirms again just how loaded South Florida is for talent next year. There are always skill players, but the OL recruits is pretty impressive as well.

Jamal Reid was all Gator and they never offered him or he would be a Gator right now. Same things with Jeff Demps and Florida State tho. Hurricanes will have there hands full keeping Urban Meyer off some of the recruits in South Florida next year. Gators will have a ton of schollys and playing time to offer. Recruiting wars in South Florida will be extreme next year. Both the Gators and Canes are off to hot starts!

(Basketball) ESPN's newest bracketology doesn't even have Miami as a true bubble team. They've got us with a 10th seed and a team on the rise. That would be interesting if we finish strong and wind up as a 5-8 seed...I believe we were a 7 last year.

Next years schedule has been released, 1st 4 games are a killer. Hope Whipple gets a fast start, we are going to need it.

Sept. 7 at Florida State (ESPN)
    Sept. 17 Georgia Tech (ESPN)
    Sept. 26 at Virginia Tech
    Oct. 3 Oklahoma
    Oct. 10 Florida A&M
    Oct. 17 at Central Florida
    Oct. 24 Clemson
    Oct. 31 at Wake Forest
    Nov. 7 Virginia
    Nov. 14 at North Carolina
    Nov. 21 Duke
    Nov. 28 at South Florida

BTW, thats 3 teams in the first 4 games ranked within the top 15 pre season polls.

As do I, in years past it almost effectively removed one team from NC contention in the 1st game of the year. I would prefer to play FSU midway through the season.

But on a brighter note, at least FSU will still play us every year and in the slim chance we start out 4 and 0 next year if we are not top 10 ranked something is really wrong.

Wow - who did we piss off to get this? That 4 game stretch at the start is brutal. Randy and Co. should not have a hard time getting these kids attention during spring practice. A 2-2 start would be solid but still a major letdown for me. So I'm predicting 4-0 and a top 10 ranking on October 4th.
