Carey really had a awesome year as a 1st time NFL LT allow only 3 sack last season . I also remember every time Green or Beck/Lemon was sack the TE (martin) was the guy alway missing his block!!! Originally i start out try to warm up to the ideal of drafting JAKE LONG but Carey has play the best LT since R.WEEB and Mark Dixon Career Offensive Line Stats Year Team ------G GS Pen Yds False/Start Holding Sacks/Allwd Yds 2004 Mia --------14 2 ----0--- 0 -------0 -------0------- 0.00---- 0.00 2005 Mia --------16 14 ---3--- 20 ------2 ------1-------- 3.00 --14.00 2006 Mia --------16 16 ---2--- 15 ------1 ------1-------- 5.50-- 48.50 2007 Mia -------16 16-- 8--- 42 ------7 -----0-------- 3.00--- 21.00 Totals ------------62 48 --13-- 77----- 10 -----2-------- 11.50-- 83.50 2 career holding penalty we may have found our future LT
That is a bit misleading because Carey allowed many a passrusher to get heat on the QB which forced the QB to throw it early and have the play blow up on us. Carey either needs to drop weight so he is quicker and has more stamina or he needs to move to right tackle or guard permanently.
wow I'm surprise you do not feel VC had a very good year last season yes these stat don't include QB pressure but still, if pressure was coming from the left side most of the time it was the TE/FB who miss or was not effective on stopping the on coming pass rusher/ check the tape
Flozell Adams-----------340 Walter Jones------------325 Matt Light----------------305 Jason Peters-------------340 Jonathan Ogden---------345 Vernon Carey------------335
exactly. finally someone that can analyze a game. ppl think b/c we have given up few sacks tha tmeans our o line is good. our o line SUCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS HORRIBLY especially in PASS PROT. guys, b/c we run it down the throats of the horrible D's in the league while RB was playing doesnt mean its a good line. good lines run for almost 200 yards against those crappy teams while they run for 120 or so against hte top D's of hte league.
bro why are getting your panties in a bunch jk VC was not the weak point on the line last season .......maybe at LG as we went for street FA to street FA ........maybe at Rt as Sheldon allow 8 sack ........are late in the season at C, as SS started to give ground VC is our best OL at LT which tell me why would we draft Jake LONG
i dont like long but if we were to use our 2a pick for best OT avail. like Otah, richardson... and moved carey back to RT, that would make our line stronger. because VC is a good RT but only a decent LT. see how that would help our team out?? but i do hate the jake long pick in the first. stay away from that
who said im getting my panties in a bunch? I nevre said he wasn't our best so clearly u have some sort of selective hearing disorder.
move down to the 5 spot, get Clady for LT, u got Carey at RT, and Lilja for LG in FA. not bad i think although our new REGIME loves big guys so that kinda takes us back to last year i guess...slow and fat.
Team RB Carries LEFTEND, LEFT TACKLE, MID/GUARD, RIGHT TACKLE. RIGHT END 30 MIA 335 9% 16% 61% 9% 5% Apparently, we run away from our "best" OL. http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stats/ol.php
The numbers have already been laid out before. Carey has been solid as a run blocker for two straight years and has protected the quarterback's blind side well for two straight years. In just his first full year at LT, he was well above average, and being that it's much harder to find an above-average left tackle than an above-average right tackle, I think Carey's just fine where he is. Give him another season or two and he could become a Pro Bowler at left tackle.
Uh that is Carey's listed weight. He reported to training camp at around 360 in 2007. Don't buy the 335 stuff. He's around 350 at least
