Question Blu-Rayers: Has anyone else had problems with Starship Troopers? I bought it yesterday, put it in, and nothing-black screen, wouldn't load. So I tried the other 2 I bought (Boondock Saints, The Midnight Meat Train) to see if it was a problem with my player, but they were fine. So, I returned/exchanged ST, got the new one home, same thing. Anyone else? Any suggestions? Bueller?
Like, more than 10 minutes? Because that's about how long I let it go before I said eff it and watched something else. Seems excessive.
Well, I put it back in after I asked my 2nd question, and it still hasn't loaded anything. Black screen-not even the load status bar. This is weird. I mean, it's a brand new Sony player-I've had it just over a month. All my others work great. I'll let it go awhile, but this just doesn't seem right.
Try one other BD disc with Java-enabled BD-Live because it's sounding to me like a bad BD-Live Java issue with the player. Maybe connect it to the internet as well if it already isn't.
Would disabling BD live help, you think? I don't use it, I don't have the BR player connected to the internet. I mean, I'm not even getting the startup menu-but only with this particular disc. All others work perfectly.
Thanks for trying, guys. I'm just going to return it and say screw it. I'm thinking they got a bad batch of discs. Of course, I have now bought and returned the only 2 copies they had except for the trilogy packs and I don't want the other two. I'll have to find something else.
Hey guys, now that the BlueRay and HDDVD fight is over, can you recommend any BlueRay players or any to stay away from? I'm looking at the Samsung 1500 model for $229. Any tips would be great. Thanks in advance!
I second that. It's the best bang for the buck. Much more future proof as well. But the Samsung BD-P1500 is a good option if price is a factor.
Price is somewhat... Though I don't want to purchase one and have it not perform. I've read that some firm ware can screw things up sometims. Thanks for your help guys.
Well I asked because if you have a receiver that decodes the HD codecs you don't need a blu-ray player that does it (which the ps3 does). Then again a receiver that can handle pcm is a must IMO (maybe just my opinion because I have a ps3).
Okay, back to me. Mememe. I just updated the firmware in my player to the most recent version and put the ST disc back in. Still nothing. Anything else I can do outside of return this thing and quit worrying about it? And thanks for the help-I am full ****** when it comes to this stuff.
This is something I don not know. I'll have to look at my Bose Lifestyle box to see if it does what you mentioned above. It's one of the older styles, I think the 12 series or something like that. Thanks.

The $5-10 deal club!!!!!!!!!! I love having Amazon Prime, though. I get so many $25 GC in the mail, free 2-day shipping, no tax... it's wonderful! Not to mention they have the best Blu-Ray prices. I'd highly recommend.
What I'm looking forward to in March: - Pinocchio (lock for day one purchase) - Batman Anthology (lock for eventual purchase w/ price drop OR I might import the first two films alone) - Bolt (hmmm, probable eventual purchase... I'm a Disney fanboy) - The Fast & The Furious Trilogy (to use w/ Best Buy GC) - The Matrix (lock for day one purchase) - Quantum of Solace (probable day one purchase) - Seven Pounds (possible eventual purchase - I haven't seen it yet, but it's Will Smith) I uaully wait on deals at Amazon or the Blu-Ray.com trade forums, but some of these titles can't wait.

Wish they'd toss in Vol 3 in that. Just got QoS on the way back from lab. No doubt there's going to be a double-dip just like CR...
Well at least I haven't got QoS yet. We better get the unrated version of Taken at 1st release. The British version is different than what we got in theaters.
Just wathced QoS and has possibly the best sound I have heard on a Blu-Ray. The movie itself was ok but the sound is top notch.
Watched The Dark Knight in Blu-Ray on a 52 inch plasma with surround sound and it was incredible. That was at least the 10th time I've seen it and it hasn't gotten old.
FYIs: 1. LOTR Trilogy is available for pre-order on Amazon, though it is the theatrical release. Also up is Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children (Complete) and the X-Men Trilogy (box set). 2. http://red2blu.com/ - Warner Bros is offering to replace any of your (warner) HD-DVDs with brand new blu-ray versions for a small fee. Best part of the deal is that you get to keep your HD-DVD disks themselves. So you could actually turnaround and sell either the blu-ray or hd-dvd version if you chose to. I have enough players to not need to replace my HD-DVDs at the cost they are asking, but for many people with only like an HD-A1, A3, or A30 (etc) it might not be a bad deal.
300: The Complete Experience' Set for July Blu-ray Double Dip Wondering how that Director's Cut is going to look like for Watchmen. I guess I'd probably swing for the 300 special edition as well provided the extras are good. Terminator:Salvation Blu-ray to Get 30_Minutes of Deleted Scenes http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/new...-ray_to_Get_30_Minutes_of_Deleted_Scenes/2786 Shame they can't include Bale's little rant. Family Guy spoofed it best IMO. I'll probably end up waiting till they double-dip and put the extended versions on Blu.
Unless 300 has extra movie footage I will pass for a while. I am ok with the HD-DVD version. Watchmen looks like a good one, but they are going to double dip on that one too from what I have read. Just sell me T4 right now please. And I think I'm going to get the LOTR trilogy, and just get the EE when it comes out. The EE won't come out until the Hobbit makes it to theaters. That's too long from now.
