The Roy Williams deal will be the jumping off point I'd imagine. I'd give them our first for him though.
No offense, but that link sounds like a story being made for the sake of hits. The part about a Cardinal's blogger stating that a deal will be done by the end of the week sounds like bunk. The writer of the article said that the Card's blogger left him a message on facebook that the Card's blogger said was only a bold prediction. The author goes on to say that the Card's blogger didn't even put that part in his blog. Yeeea. Boldin would cost a ****load. I'd rather keep our 1st day picks.
I would send Arizona our 25th pick for Boldin in a heart beat. He is a proven vet. I would rather have him than Maualuga, Vontae Davis, Nicks, Bay or any other guy that we could pick up with our 25th pick. I would not spend a 1st round pick on an unproven rookie WR but for Boldin it is a sure thing.
Stintim and Johnson I like, but in the 2nd round. I'm hoping for Clint to still be there when we pick in the 2nd.
i personally know the guy that wrote that and he's an honest person. He was upfront about where he got his info from. If he wasn't honest he wouldn't have said that the guy hasn't even put it on his own blog. He's just stated the facts about hearing the same thing from a few different places and that where there is smoke there is fire. The guys been known for hearing things before anyone hears about it when it comes to dolphins moves.
I think we all need to give RNI the benefit of the doubt. He's a new poster and has posted some information. Will it come true? Who knows? I'm of the camp that believes this FO knows what they're doing. I have tremendous respect for Bill Parcells and his ability to get teams to turn in the right direction. For those saying that "Bill Parcells Isn't Our GM" you have to remember he hand picked our GM. If we get boldin for -any pick- I'll have to admit that I trust what this FO does until they prove to me they can't make our team improve. Do I think we'll get him? No. Do I think it's possible that we've asked the price for him? Sure. Any team that knows Boldin and what he could bring to a team that is hurting in WR would be dumb not to at least ASK what the price would be. If the FO finds it too high they won't bite. If they find it acceptable; boldin might be in aqua and orange. What's there to dispute? Whether Boldin is a good enough player to give up multiple picks or whether or not we need other positions filled with those picks? For the record I think that we will not be drafting a WR with the 25 overall and maybe not even in the second round only because we have Brandon London. Is he proven? No. But he is a young man who has the numbers and size to prove that he -can- be a #1 WR in the NFL. Anyway, thanks for posting RNI.
Not trying to bash you at all, bro. I'm just always cautious with any info like this. This way, nobody gets their hopes up. *cough* Laverneus Coles *cough*
right. i mean i'm not RNI, but I definitely understand where you're coming from. It's a rumor, which is why I really don't like jumping all over conclusions when it comes to the off-season and would rather hear them from reputable sources (miamidolphins.com, etc). until we hear this being confirmed (as usual) i'm hesitant to jump for joy. i'd sure as hell be excited if it went down though.
I also personally know the guy that writes that blog. He's a good guy who's really passionate about the Phins. He wouldn't intentionally lead anyone astray. Here's the final paragraph of that entry.
I would love to have Boldin here. If we all agree WR is one of our biggest needs, and we can agree that Boldin is great WR, I don't see why sending a first round pick for him is a bad idea. But all this depends on whether or not the FO considers WR one of our biggest needs. If they do, I wouldn't doubt they are giving Boldin some consideration.
I've seen it said here or there that if you want a player like Boldin, simply draft Hakeem Nicks. He's the next Boldin.
Where there's smoke on the Fins front, it's because the Tuna is fanning his blanket.... The problem is, "Is it real or is it Memorex ??"
Theres still an issue of a contract EVEN IF we give the picks to acquire him. Don't forget Rosenhaus is his agent.
Boldin is an awesome player but draft picks are more valuable. no way would I give up our number 25th pick. Maybe our number 44 and a later pick. each pick you trade away is part of your future.
I'm a big Boldin fan, but the most I would give is our 1st and maybe a player or our later 2nd and another pick next season.
Good point FinFan.... 1st round pick doesn't guarantee anything in the NFL. I'd take a guarantee with a late 1st pick any day of the week. I prefer to deal in absolutes if I can, especially regarding a position that can take years to develop. CB being the other position that I'd rather suck it up and pay for an absolute in FA etc.
I have heard this as well And quite frankly, if it costs us our 25th pick over all, I say we do it. Bolden couple with Ginn, Cam and Bess, with our TEs, we immediately have our WR corp in place for many years to come. This is a no brainer. Bill shouldn't get cheap here. This move counters the Bills signing of TO, as well as all the moves the Pats have made building up their secondary and defense. We can then focus on LBs and Corners in the draft, we still have 2 second round picks. You don't pass up an opportunity to get a true proven #1 WR with a first round pick. Make the investment.
They are an even less absolute than drafting Nicks. English and Johnson have never played OLB, so they're not guaranteed to make an impact the first year or there after. IMO a 1st round pick needs to have a very short LTI to truly benefit the team and be worth the money we're paying him. If most of you don't want Brandon Marshall here, then I don't think we want Johnson either. He's a ticking-time-bomb of a head case waiting to happen. LOL. There is a ? if English can play with his fingers out of the dirt..... and I'm in ACC country and really like Sintim, but he's still not a guarantee to be an every down OLB. Like English, he's a great pass rusher and will probably be a strong special teamer, but I really only see him as a north-south type player who has some trouble changing direction and playing side to side.
I honestly feel that Nicks is a cross between Boldin, Steve Smith, and Hines Ward. Is there still a chance for us to trade for Miles Austin from our brothers from another mother in Dallas?
I think if he is available, and our FO wanted him, that deal would have been done already, the fact nothing has happened to me means one of two things. 1. Negotiations between the two teams is not progressing on what miami will ahve to send to zona. 2. Were not interested. I find it hard to believe if they were negotiating that no one anywhere would know somethign for sure. It would somehow be a top rumor on a lot of sites. Sure it is possible it still might happen, but our FO likes to move fast when they have made up their mind, since we don't have boldin already i dont' think were going after him. If zona wants someone who's left on the board at the 25th pick and a quick deal could be made i could see that as more plausible. Right now i personally would be shocked if we got him, Ireland and parcells are not interested in him imo.
With TO being released, I think they plan to use Miles interegrally in their offense, don't see him being traded. Plus i think they just gave him a new deal, could be wrong about that, either way, don't think there's a big chance of that happening anymore.
thanks. i highly doubt that we'll get Boldin as well but i hope we do. My intention is to let everyone know that we are some what interested in him. like you said, all we've probably done is ask how much he costs. Then we probably said yeah right, you can keep him. LOL.
i love building through the draft, but you draft people in hopes that they will become a player like Boldin. If all it takes is one pick, why wouldn't we pull the trigger? He's well worth a 1st, but i hope we can get him for a 2nd and a player. I would rather use a draft pick on a young proven player than someone who might be a bust.
As long as they don't give up to much for him I would be stocked......Maybe then Ginn could excell????????????
coming from that site and probably knowing the writer, it would n't surprise me it was written for hits
I would have given up the first overall pick last year to nab Larry Fitzgerald. For some reason, I think giving up anything more than a third rounder would be overpaying for Boldin, who seems to be a bit more fragile these days. He is a great player though.
I had a lot of respect for the author of that article until recently. It is unfortunate that has occurred. However, I believe his intentions are genuine and he means to lead no one astray.
sorry about the music. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXPHFkFMjTM"]YouTube - Anquan Boldin: the Beast[/ame]
I'm a big Anquan Boldin fan. Dude is a beast, no doubt (6'1" 217lbs., and some serious guns to boot). And, the way he came back from that hit last season in NY, in what...less than a month? Don't remember how many plates and screws they put in his face, but whatever it was, that's some serious *stuff.* And, he didn't skip a beat. 9 for 63 and two scores his first game back! Safe to say he's tough as nails, as well as being a playmaker. What I don't like about Q is the way he started whining for a new deal as soon as Larry Fitz scored his new contract. That, to me, is a red flag. I also didn't like the way he blew up on his OC on the sideline during a game late this past season. May have been heat of the moment, but it looked an awful lot like another prima-donna WR that was recently released and has since been added to another AFC east team. I won't mention any names, but his initials are Terrell Owens. But, for me the bottom line is what is he gonna cost? And, I think the simple answer is probably more than we are willing to spend. Now, if we can get him on the cheap, well...than I'm all for it. I'd love to see Q in aqua and orange! But, I not willing to give up what I think it's gonna cost to get him. As much as I hate to say it, I'd have to say pass.
