http://www.nfl.com/videos?videoId=09000d5d80f7a8cc He is working out in Ft. Lauderdale, and it is reported that he hopes to have it resolved by draft day per Steve Wyche.
i heard that he's been seen in South Florida on 2 or 3 occasions but i didn't post anything b/c i had no concrete evidence. It sounds like there's a good workout facility in Ft. Lauderdale b/c Jets RB Thomas Jones is there as well. In other words, Boldin being in Ft. Lauderdale has nothing to do with the Dolphins being interested in him or vice versa.
Boldin may be interested in the Dolphins but I am not sure the feeling is mutual as he would come at a very high price draftwise and contractwise.I can guesstimate that we are not willing to give two day one picks for him .Thats two starters .We still have a lot of roster spots to fill .
I posted this after watching the video, and wondering if Parcells, and Ireland are not floored by the kids coming out of college would they look at Boldin?
I would love to get him. He has the veteran leadership without the diva crap that TO brings, but I have a feeling the cost (both contracts and picks) would be just way too high.
I can really see this happening. Here is the scenario I can't get out of my head. Pick 25 comes along, Maualuga, Matthews and Nicks are off the board. Parcells makes a call to the Cards and offers our 1st for Boldin they say yes and Boldin is coming home to Miami.
I don't see the trifecta as the types to mortgage everything to get one player. Az isn't going to let Boldin away cheap and our front office doesn't pay that much for one player. They are much more likely to try to draft their own Boldin clone.
I would rather see what the trifecta can do with our draft picks rather than spend a lot of cap room on Boldin. Why can't we develope our own talent instead of wishing for players from other teams? This team has been talent poor for so long we almost feel like we have to pick up talent elsewhere to make us competitive. Boldin is a really good receiver but will cost a bunch to sign. Miami wouldn't have exclusive rights to Boldin and I am pretty sure some other teams would like to get in on the opportunity to get him.
i feel what your sayin, I want our own players to form the identity of the team as well..I said from day one in the offseason that Boldin would be the only player i would comprimise my strategy for..# 1 reason is he wants to be a miami dolphin, which gives him the chance to become a true dolphin, #2 the toughness for which he plays the game. Chris Chambers was never the same after denver, anquan boldin didnt blink an eye. #3 its a need.
If there's no cap next year, then hopefully not! Depending on how deep We want our pockets to go. Posted via Mobile Device
on a 5 year contract you could be looking at a $30 million difference, without trying to be exact. Posted via Mobile Device
I'm in favor of Boldin but the salary difference would be huge. I expect the yearly cap # on #25 to be under $2 million /yr. For comparison sake, Fitzgerald's cap # was about $7.65 million in 2008.
or, if Parcells isn't happy with the Cards asking price, he does something very uncharacteristic and travels to Nicks' proday... hmmm something is afoot!
Yeah, the salary impact of Boldin is always forgotten in the discussion. I assume he'll want closer to $9mil per year on a renegotiated contract. Maybe we draft a WR after all. If we do trade for Boldin, I think it only happens once the draft gets to our pick and there is no one worthwhile whom we want on the board, AND we can;t find a partner to trade down. That would make Boldin the best remaining option.
