Really? It looks a little awkward. Why don't they just put it on the sleeve of the jeresy?

Ok, had the chance to see Yanks Spring Training vs. Team USA and Team Canada the past week.

Joba is coming out of the gate very, very, very slow from a production standpoint. Not sure what the problem is if anything other than its just a bad spring so far, but vs. Canada he faced 5 batters....4 walks and 1 hit - no outs and 5 ERs later he was out of the game - that my friends is a brutal Game Line!

Seriously, he has great stuff, just a horrible game was all.

Maybe, just maybe, Hughes or another steps up to send Joba back to 7th/8th inning bullpen duty.

Also, a positive series of games for Kei Igawa (I know, crazy right). But he is pitching (not throwing) really well right now. Lets hope he continues this positive trend to staying productive and in the pen, etc.

All in all, Arod going for surgery is not the news I wanted, but coming back and ready by June is fine by me.

Time for others to step up and be ready out of the gate.....hint, hint, Mr. Teixeira are you listening (and I know thats not your M.O. but please let this year be different).

Matsui will not see the OF until Interleague play, as per Girardi yesterday.

Yanks put the 1st under their collective belts today (yes, I was at the game). AJ was solid, and the bench bats really delivered. Hopefully a trip to KC then opening the NEW Stadium (yes, I saw it last Saturday vs. Cubs = AMAZING) will get all the guys back on track including CC's opening of the new stadium.

All in all, 1 out of 3 is not expected, but its only 3 games....as the weather continues to warm, the bats and arms will even out and I still like what I am seeing, even in the two losses...no quit in the team. It comes down to execution.

Woohoo, for getting the 1st W of 2009.!!!!!!!!!!

So is Swisher...he is getting his at bats and making the most of them....nice to see some depth so far and nice OF/INIF rotation giving folks rest, etc.

Posada is swinging the stick too.....he and Matsui's return return this lineup to the thunderous - pitch taking - work the count type order I have loved over the years.

So here is to the health of the order and the 5 outfield rotation along with infield rotation giving everyone a breather often.

As the pitching rotation finds its groove......we will click!

Swisher is playing great - as is Cano.

I think they are a much improved team with the pitching they have. It will be solid for the long haul, imo.

Our only glitch until things shake out will be the "Getting to Mo" situation....its the easiest issue to see and getting a consistent production - a "known" result is the hardest part right now.

Its interesting it reared its ugly head opening day, and now with Joba's start.....irony would be that all season long that on days Joba starts, the bullpen flames up for his days.....sad, but possible.

Hopefully all roles and patterns will be found that we can have a reliable outcome with the 6-8 to get to Mo for closing out the game.

Roy H will most likely be traded by the deadline........

Two Playoff spots will come out of the East once again this year....the Yanks will have one.....the other is up for grabs between Sox and Rays (once they bring Price up).

Not happy but keeping it in perspective.....things have a way of correcting themselves, so not closing the book on Wang's start of this season.....as for Sox, Rays, and Yanks, each seems to be inconistent right now. That more than anything tells the story of the first two trips through the rotation...

One of the rays announcers talked about this, if i were the Yankees i would be worried about Wang. he looked very uncomfortable from the first pitch, his body language suggested he didnt feel right, like he may be injured....

regarding tonights game, Burnett always has killed us. i expect a low scoring game tonight.

Yeah, Wang has to figure something out....and I expect him to. But being up in the zone, in the Mid 80s is not what he was in the past...he was a hard sink, low in the zone, low to mid 90s....that a big difference....its 2 starts, we can be concerned, but its not panic time.

I dont know if the arm or shoulder is hurting, but being that his DL stint was foot related, unless its changing his delivery (which I dont see) then I have to believe he will figure it out and correct it....mechanical tweaks can solve it - things like getting his wrist on top of the ball - etc.

Its why we pay money to a Pitching Coach, so its time to earn that pay.

Not pretty, but this is what we would do on a regular basis if Tex and Arod are not part of the balance of the season....fortunately, they both will be.

Taking it with a grain of salt and waiting for Tex to get his wrist healthy and we get Arod to return then I will measure a 15-5 blowout in a different way.....the other reality, is the 15 is pitching not hitting so I understand that.

Woohooo......lets open this NEW Stadium with a positive......surviving the 9 game road start turned out alright (especially after dropping the 1st two)....taking the next two series (5 out of the last 7) was huge.

Here we go boys and girls....Welcome to Yankee Stadium!!!!

    (P.S. its a sweet place)

Yanks open their 7th Stadium today (4-2 past openings):

Odds favor the Yankees today, as they are 4-2 in new stadium openings since the inception of the franchise, with losses in their first games at Hilltop Park in 1903 and the Polo Grounds in 1913, and wins in their debuts in Oriole Park (as the original Baltimore Orioles) in 1901, The House that Ruth built in 1923, in Shea stadium, which was their home during the 1974-75 remodel, and in renovated Yankee Stadium -- which truly was a different park than the original model -- in 1976.

Our bullpen has issues....Bruney DL is not a positive sign.....Joba gets W and goes 7 (could have easily gone 8) and until Wang comes back, no changes, but Hughes between now and then can write his ticket to stay in the rotation. He can also write his express back to Minors...the balls in his hands.

Ok, baby steps, but bullpen can be the difference. Coke is finding his comfort level it seems (knock on wood).

Hope this continues but the East is where its at, and to start the year we have the short end of the stick in the division. Things have to continue to change...get Arod back and go from their, but make no mistake, its arms, arms, arms...and 6-8 are a circus right now.

Now that was a nice comeback and a huge step for the youngsters delivering...what ever has gotten into Melky I like it......

......I know we have bullpen issues, and our Starters arent all in a groove yet.....but....and its a big BUT.....I sure hope the chemistry of the Offense isnt destroyed with Arod's return.

Ugh, this pitching staff is painful to watch.

Plus no consistency at the top of the lineup makes it near impossible to have a good offense.
